Bunnyconnellen Olive Grove & Vineyard is nestled in the High Country north of Toowoomba, located a stones throw from the quaint township of Crows Nest. The Machinery Shed Cellar Door is open weekends for olive and wine tastings, serving seasonal platters
We drove here from Toowoomba for lunch after reading glowing reports but on this occasion I would have to say we were underwhelmed! The menu only provided 3 choices namely beef lasagna, soup or chicken pasta - no platters only in summer. As I donât eat meat the only option was soup. We waited around 50 minutes for it to be served with only 7 people in the cafe ...not that hard to heat up soup and lasagna. Also my soup only came with a small dinner roll which is the kind you buy frozen from Coles and it cost $14. My husband had the lasagna with snow peas which he enjoyed. We had to ask about the lunch after around 40 minutes and the gentleman did apologise but no real explanation only that the lasagna took longer to heat. We would have stayed for coffee and cake however after the length of time it took for lunch we decided to pass. Not sure if this was just a one off or not but it wasnât what we were expecting! Thank you for the feedback Coleen. I apologise you were disappointed with your visit to our venue and had to wait longer than expected for your meal. Our menu is small, however we do not claim to operate as a restaurant or cafe, namely a Cellar Door experience offering tastings and a few homely, hearty meals. We encourage bookings and our menu does change weekly. Itâs an unfortunate coincidence that our only vegetarian option that day was soup, as you had mentioned you had eaten soup all week. We take feedback very seriously as a small, family-run operation. If you would like to contact us I would love to discuss this with you personally and rectify the situation.
I've been three times now and each time the food is great and the service is so friendly. My favourites so far: Braised lamb shanks - the meat was so tender, sauce was rich and flavoursome with a pleasant amount of heat, so good!Beef flank - again rich and flavoursome!Cheese and spinach empanada - yummy, the lime aioli they come with was delicious.Chicken burrito - my friend got this and said it's the best burrito he's ever had.

We were able to reserve a table for 6 plus baby on a 2 for 1, Wednesday night regular special. My fish was poor; others had the rib fillet and the children had vast servings of deep fried chicken. Steak was well received; wine list had nothing local, a missed opportunity for all, alas. Visit if you like big servings of average , old fashioned pub food without any pretension.

We had heard good things about Emeraude and werenât disappointed. Arrived for a late lunch and were warmly welcomed . Attentive staff who were able to help us with food and wine recommendations. There were six of us and the selection starter platter was just fine - the tempura cauliflower and marinated olives were delightful. I went for the rabbit pie with peas and garlic beans which was a winner. A few of the others went for chicken fritters with Asian salad and gave it the big thumbs up. Well worth the visit and all done using local ingredients.
