The town is on the south bank of the River Tees and is historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire. The bridge at Yarm marked the furthest reach of tidal flow up the River Tees until the opening, in 1995, of the Tees Barrage, which now regulates river flow above Stockton. As the last bridge on the river before the sea, it was superseded by a new toll bridge opened in Stockton in 1771. The oldest part of the town, around the High Street, is situated in a loop of the river, and the newer parts of the town extend to the point where the River Leven meets the River Tees.

Table Talk Indian Restaurant is situated in the village of Middleton St George, between Darlington town centre and Teeside Airport and well worth the short journey from either. Classic and modern style, come together in Table Talks spacious dining room
Visited a few times for a takeaway. Staff always friendly, food always of a high standard and prepared promptly. Very welcoming place and the staff always take time to talk whilst waiting. Will continue to use and would thoroughly recommend.
The Purple Peacock offers a truly unique dining experience. Relax in plush furnishings, enjoy our signature cocktail at the funky bar, and discover the brand-new menu we've been waiting to unveil. You'll find plenty of delicious summer dishes that will ha
The restaurant has only been open since this last weekend, literally 4 days. We booked because it was our 25th wedding anniversary and we had our reception at the Parkmore Hotel. I have to admit we were a little apprehensive looking the menu online as we are probably a little old-fashioned but we thought we should give it a go. On entry I loved the golden peacock! Pleasant seating area and we had time to drink and peruse the menus. The food was absolutely delicious. Being honest, the service was a bit slow (but we weren't in any hurry) and my vegetables - although delicious - were not quite hot enough. My guess is that it was a 'timing' issue, getting both meals out at the same time, and I am sure when we go again (which we will) it will be fine. The staff we great. Everybody was attentive, personable and professional. They were obviously all new and still nervous and trying very hard. Despite any slight teething problems, and our apprehensiveness, we enjoyed some gorgeous food and will definitely go back again.

Visited this superb Indian restaurant on a Saturday night with a friend. Have been there probably a dozen times before. The restaurant is quite small once inside & even if you've booked (advisable...) eg. a window seat, you sometimes still have a wait until you get your table. The food - and drinks are exquisite. This place never disappoints, even due to its rural location. The staff work extremely hard & are always courteous, thanking you for coming & seeing you out after your visit. This restaurant will still be there in 100 years time simply because of the excellent name & goodwill that beholds it. Pay it a visit - you won't be left disappointed.

Had a takeaway delivered from what I considered to be a good curry house. Ordered 2 chopped onion for popadoms and only 1 arrived. All 3 different curries all tasted very similar. Chapaties were not home made and came from a packet. Doubt I will use them again.

My wife and I had a friend visiting from York who is a big Indian Food fan and has sampled a large selection iof what York has to offer, we decided to take him to Vadah as a treat. This restaurant never fails to impress, from the courteous welcome, the friendly chatter whilst ordering and the reasonable time to prepare the food which incidentally is a treat for both the eye and the stomach!.We started with the obligatory popadoms and pickle tray which was delightful and then we had a selection of lemon and cashew rice, Afraan Chicken, Naga Shatkara Chicken and Korma Chicken with Chpatti's Garlic Chilli Cheese Naan and drinks. This meal was as ever - perfect. Can't wait for our next visit!!
