We had a lettuce wrap, which was okay, and a chicken penang curry, which was so mild it was not identifiable as Thai food. The wonderful thing about Thai food is its wonderful, bright seasonings. This element was totally missing from our meal. The service was fine, the decor okay.

I had dinner last night before a concert at the Blue Frog Studio around the corner. My friend and I ordered two rolls, one with Mango, and the Godzilla with prawns. Both were excellent and plenty for a light dinner. Presentation was superb, as was the service. The bill including two generous glasses of white wine, came to just over $42. I realize that I only tried a small portion of the menu, so my review may be of limited value. But given the quality of food I sampled and courteous service, plus ambiance and price, I cannot possibly see how anyone would give it less than 5 stars. Well, maybe the 'glass is half full' type of customers might.

I am not actually reviewing the Sapporo Kitchen in Surrey. They have just opened another one in Ladner Village. I went in to check it out. It was excellent. They served their own blend of tea in a pot (so I didn't have to trip up the servers for refills). They make their own low sodium soya sauce. I had the appetizer sashimi and the agedashi tofu. The sashimi was excellent. Very good quality fish. The agedashi tofu was good as well. Slightly different batter which had sesame seeds and was nice and crispy.

After 30 years in existence, to consistently produce food of such reliable quality and freshness is no mean feat. Only open for dinner, and then only a few nights in the week, no wonder they do a lot of take out as well as dine in for this small restaurant in this outdated building. You can get many of the same menu items in "pseudo" Japanese restaurants that have proliferated in the Semiahmoo peninsula but if you want the freshest and choicest items, don't hesitate : come here. Even a simple Gyoza is perfect with delicately thin, perfectly fried wrapping, reminding you of all the others you have tolerated elsewhere. Serving sizes are not big but the freshness makes up for it. The nigiri Toro is a case in point. We are not regulars, but are regularly surprised to remember such good sushi whenever we revisit.

Penang Szechuan Cuisine is a family owned restaurant since 1998 with a well established name within the White Rock and South Surrey area. Our restaurant serve spicy Malaysian and Chinese dishes. In addition our bargain lunch special (over 30 items to choo
Not a meal to write home about. Our lunch experience yesterday in White Rock BC @ Penang Szechuan was weak.Tired staff.Limp tasteless cuisine, the hot n sour soup was NEITHER hot or sour, but slimy sickly sweet and worst I've ever tasted.Curry chicken carelessly stir fried ? raw cold white onion unbalanced curry spices over tired rice, barely edible as were hungry (but hardly enjoyable.)Going through the motions staff was in 'gotta catcha plane' mode trying to get outta there. No one inquired whether food was okay....a dead give away when it ISN'T in our experience.I spent 5 months in Penang Malaysia in the 1990's.THIs restaurant with the NAME of that world class foodie destination, PENANG, was a poor attempt at humour in our opinions.Lacking PASSION. lacking flavour. weak performance.Going through the motions...hurry up and eat and leave attitude rates 1.5 generously rounded up to 2 circles, as we did consume more than half of the tired offering.

this is a local White Rock and South Surrey staple which always has lots of customers. New places come and go fast in the area but the great taste and low prices keep them coming back. Huge menu and hard to recommend any item over others.

What a nice kept secret away from the maddening crowd. Nestled in a tiny mall off King George Blvd in the same mall where T&T is located. Went there for my nephew's birthday celebration. There were about 15 of us and the staff provided us with great service and delicious food. No wonder my nephew enjoys going there for his birthday treat!

We were sitting around in Vancouver and thought, hey, let's go try that sushi place in White Rock that people talk about. So we drove down and stood outside waiting for the 5 PM opening. The restaurant has about 5 four-tops and ten seats along a sushi bar. One of the four-tops and two bar seats were taken by the two groups ahead of us. We ordered a couple minutes later so that they'd have an initial order for us.30 minutes later, we have seen the restaurant fill up, people order, have their food delivered, then have their second plates arrive, meanwhile no sushi for us. At 5:35, the people who filled the final four-top, who arrived at 5:25 get food. Nope... we've had enough.Over the last 40 years, I can count on one hand the restaurants that I've walked out of after ordering. Yes, orders can get lost. kitchens can get confused, orders can go to others, but when you are sitting there three feet from the person making your food, see them make what you ordered, and see it sent to people who came in twenty minutes after you did, something is wrong. A good front-of-house person should notice the delay and at least talk to you about it... nope... didn't happen. It is a pity as Taka's has a good reputation for good food. I have no reason to doubt it is the best sushi in White Rock. The service aspect, for us, gave us no food and a hangry trip back to the city.
