Sunrise Restaurant has the dirtiest kitchen, toilets, tablecloths, seats, floor of all restaurants in Varkala cliff. It may give you an idea of the management hygiene concern and food quality served here. It might not be a problem for short term tourists but it is a major one for long term and locals who know something's wrong here. But, there is another major issue... Water.Sometimes, customers are being sold refilled bottled water... Refilled with what ? Guess... Tap water coming from a filthy tank located above the restaurant !I checked it out asking a glass of water after my meal and follow the waiter to witness him filling a glass with tap water... Shocking. I let you imagine how fruit juices are made...How come ? Why ? Just basic greed.I have been travelling India for more than 30 years and seen things evolving for the good, especially water concern. Except for the most remote areas, customers are now being given either boiled water, purified water using a pink antiseptic. Some restaurants owners even use water fountain. It is the case on Varkala Cliff were all restaurants provide regular drinking water to customers, some of them free of charge. So be careful and stay away from Sunrise Restaurant except if your health is not important.

We inform our regular customers we have only changed the name of the restaurant but management, staff, location, food and hospitality are the same. We hope to see you soon...
I had dinner at this place on Feb 13th, overpriced and not a lot of items on menu that we could order. We ordered paneer and chapati. Just wanted to say that we didn't need spoon or knife, Chapati done all the job.

The Theeram was our favourite restaurant when we were here a few years ago. It was full of buzz and atmosphere. We dined here twice during our recent holiday in Varkala. The food was good ,the service was very good, however the Tandoor oven was not operating and no fresh fish on display. The fish kebabs cooked in the Tandoor oven with fresh paratha bread being our favourite on our last holiday and we think helped to bring customers into the restaurant. Customers were few so sadly no atmosphere. We will try again on our next holiday.

The Sea Sun Cafe was on the beach and convenient to our hotel. we sat upstairs and enjoyed watching the local people on the holy beach and generally enjoying themselves. We tried most of their local dishes and all were served promptly and were delicious. I enjoyed the aloo and mushroom curry and the keralan fish curry and my wife enjoyed the chicken momos always with butter roti. There were always plenty of customers so the atmosphere was lively and enjoyable.

Great place to eat. Every day you can choose from a larger selection of freshly caught fish. Try the grilled whole shrimp or a grilled red snapper. The prices are absolutely reasonable. You sit downstairs or upstairs so you can enjoy the view and sunset. The wifi seems excellent.

This was next to our accommodation (same company). A good restaurant with reasonable prices and friendly staff. Nice views from the upstairs terrace restaurant. The food is imaginative and decent quality. Breakfasts are good too. Great cocktails and I don't usually drink cocktails! Freshly caught seafood.

Totally recommended healthy breakfast and smoothie bowls. A meal is going to fill your heart with happiness and satisfaction. Darjeeling Cafe is my favourite places on main cliff, there could be waiting for this place, it is always crowded. One of the finest in the area. Great vibe.

I tried this restaurant because they had quite many options for the seafood . Each evening there fresh seafood and fish placed in front of the restaurant. I went twice here, one lunch and one dinner. Lunch I ordered buttered fish snapper, portion is big however tasted not so fresh, seems the fish was from last night, and dinner order the vegetable platter and it was ok , not so impressive. However the staffs here are really welcoming and warm hospitality , and i enjoying the view as well.

The Bait & Hook, our multi-cuisine restaurant at B'Canti Boutique Beach Resort in Varkala, Kerala. Our restaurant focuses on traditional Kerala elements with it's architecture and South Indian cuisine. The Bait & Hook also offers sea-food, North Indian, T
I was super imperfect by the ambience of this place because of the sea facing view. I love how they have put so much efforts into the interiors of the place. Now coming to the mouth watering mood menu we begin with chowder prawn soup which was gooey and creamy and it was everything i was looking to start my meal. Fish fingers was uttery savoury and one of my favourite. Chiken tikka masala was luscious and rich with spices and the celebrity dish was kerala fish curry with marinated, succulent Fish and literally finger linking!! A special kudos goes to the chefs as all the food they prepared was delicious and appealing! Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to leave valuable feedback! We are grateful you enjoyed the atmosphere & food!We look forward to welcoming you back to The Bait & Hook: Seaside Restaurant in Varkala, Kerala.Regards,Guest Relations Manager
