I love dumplings of all forms and shapes, and its really hard (if not to say impossible) to get good dumplings in Switzerland. So coming to Taiwan, one of the things I was most looking for was eating dumplings (and especially Xialongbao, which are my favorites). In Taipei we went to Din Tai Fung, but waiting time was at least 80 minutes, so we passed. On our first night in Tainan, our hotel recommended the soup dumpling restaurant and we had a great meal and will definitely be back ! The Xiaolongbao are great, and we also enjoyed the Wontons in chili oil and the shrimp dumplings (the shrimp tempura was fine but not outstanding, and we didnt like the taste of the vegetarian dumplings). Service is very fast and efficient. This is a very busy place, so not the place to go for a romantic date ;-). But for a very tasty and local experience.

Def one of my two best meals Iâve had in Taiwan. First time I had pig heart which is not prepared by my mother. Though slightly different, it was excellent. The heart is slightly chewy. The aroma of the sesame oil and the ginger- mind blowing. Other superb dishes include braised pork knuckle and duck feet. Both dishes are extremely well braised and comes off the bones very easily. Special mention is the bone marrow....smooth texture akin to beancurd. I hate to queue but this is definitely a place which I will make an exception.

The noodles of this restaurant blow me away. It tastes full flavor. I'd ordered two different types of noodle which are seafood noodle and dry noodle. In my opinion, the dry noodle tastes better than the seafood one since the seafood noodle is quite popular and the same elsewhere. I've problem while ordering since it doesnt have english menu. This restaurant has taiwanese and japanese menu. This is a plus, but i would recommend they to add english as well.

Best Taiwanese food we've had in 2 weeks time - even though I don't even really like Chinese / taiwanese food!Had the regular and vegetarian danzai noodles, fried oysters, milk fish and braised vegetables. All lovely!

My Tainan friends told me not to miss Fu Sheng Hao fish meat ball soup and rice cake. So after breakfast, they dragged me there, and then OMG, I confirm I had my best fish meat ball soup. The portions are small, and you I have no excuse not to go. The place is nice and everyone super friendly. GO.

The price is a little bit expensive but the beef hot pot is definitely the best in Tainan city. They offer four different kinds of beef and each of them provides very different flavor. The owner of the restaurant would stand by your desk and watch if you cook the beef properly. Sometimes it's annoying. There is a free parking lot nearby the restaurant. We will come here again. The beef hot pot here is very good. You may have to wait for 30-60 mins during dinner time.

They have a large variety of food. The food is decent quality and is fresh. It is hard to find parking so take a taxi over there.

This popular and contemporary open-kitchen restaurant presents an extensive buffet selection, ranging from the local cuisines to delicious international fare.
Came here one morning for breakfast. I believe their hours are 6:30-10am. There's a map at each seat at your table which tells you where the food is. Not all the "Taiwanese small dishes" are available all the time. Food was pretty good. Combination of eastern and western dishes. Tables were cleared extremely quickly. To be honest, I was hoping for more of a selection of Taiwanese dishes. Price is a bit steep for a breakfast buffet. I paid over $22 USD. Not sure if it would have been cheaper or not if I had included it with the price of my room.

It's a Buddhist temple in the countryside close to good hiking trails. The temple have a small but very well maintained garden with some statues of saints and animals. It's a peacefull place and was not crowded on a weekday. You can stop by if you are in the area but no need to go out of your way to visit.

Exceptional experience. Old house with modern taste of Shabu Shabu. The food ingredient is fresh. The pork, beef and seafood is best selected. Especially the atmosphere of dinning brings you to the old days.
