Thanks to other TripAdvisor reviewers, I knew where to go for Chinese food for lunch. After an appointment at nearby Saundarya Salon in Sanford, I got to the Green Tea Restaurant about 1:15 PM. It was moderately busy then.Entering the restaurant, the first thing I noticed were the decorations. There were two red Chinese lanterns hanging from the rafters. There were two paintings of women in traditional oriental dress on the back wall. There was a wall hanging with Chinese characters. That was very striking. There were some tables and several booths. The bar area was separate. I got a booth in the dining room. Soon after ordering my beverage, I placed my food order for the Luncheon Special No. 1 â Chicken Chow Mein, Chicken Fingers, and Pork Fried Rice at $6.50. With 52 cents Maine Meals Tax, the total was $7.02.It was about a 15-minute wait for my food. It was served on a large platter-type tray with several divided compartments. The presentation was very nice. The little iceberg lettuce salad was fresh, cool, and crisp. All the cooked foods were fresh and arrived at the table hot. The Chicken Chow Mein was excellent. It was very well-prepared. It was loaded with small chunks of tender white meat chicken. All ingredients were fresh. The noodles were lightly fried. They were not greasy. The chow mein was delicious. The Pork Fried Rice was classic. The only criticism is that I would have like to see more little pieces of the roast pork in that dish. But, the rice was properly prepared and tasty without being salty. The Chicken Fingers were good. The only criticism there was that the batter had some excess oil, and the inside of the batter was slightly pasty. Otherwise, those were good. The white meat chicken was fresh and tender. Portions were quite generous. There was so much food that I was able to eat less than half. There was enough food for three servings of the rice and two king-sized servings of the chow mein.Service from Kayla was great. The place was clean.I enjoyed my meal very much and will definitely eat there again.I rate the Green Tea Restaurant at 4.50 and can recommend it to others. Food is great!! My only criticism is the location. But then again you might want to walk after your meal. The wait staff were exceptional in their courtesy behavior to all that walk through their doors. Now Sanford has more then Chinese food to offer for Asian cuisine.

Until tonight it was our favorite place for weekly Chinese takeout. Last week when we called to order there was a message saying closed for vacation. Tonight we called to place an order. The first time the phone rang 15 times with no answer. The second time someone answered and took our order but didn't ask for our name. When I asked if they wanted she said they didn't need it and it would be 30 minutes. 30 minutes later they do not have the order ready and seem confused. They apparently lost it requiring another 30 minute wait. When we get home and open the boxes the chicken fingers were soggy looking, the chicken fried rice contained more onions than it did chicken or rice. The beef teriyaki was as dry as beef jerky and everything including the duck sauce tasted different. $31 for an un-edible meal. We fed most of it to the dogs. I don't know if the "vacation" was a change of ownership or the loss of a cook, but whatever it was something has changed and we doubt we will ever go back after this unless we hear from others they have returned to the Yummy House we knew and loved.

Just got back from South Carolina where good Chinese food is nonexistent. Went to Egg Roll Cafe last night for the first time. Delicious!!!! Shades of our favorite restaurant, Fi Wood, that closed. Spare ribs on the bone excellent. Rice was good, though I don't care for peas in it - waitress told me just to request they be left out next time. I think the prices are good and so are the quantities. I'd highly recommend it. Very friendly waitstaff. It's under new ownership. It's not fi wood food anymore.
My husband and I recently visited for the first time. I ordered sushi, including mackeral, salmon, and tuna - all of which were fresh and delicious. I also enjoyed the Lucky Charm roll, which was a different combination that I've had before (as I recall it was yellow tail, avocado, cream cheese, and possibly other ingredients). My husband really enjoyed the Korean seafood soup, which had just enough heat, along with mussels, squid, and shrimp. The atmosphere was quite nice; the staff was attentive and friendly; and our food was served quickly. We're delighted to find this quality of Asian cuisine so close to home. We'll be back soon.
