Things to do in San Pa Tong
I very often go here to get the khao mok gai, a sort of Biryani rice with chicken, which is a dish you see often at restaurants around Chiang Mai. The way they do it here I like best also the the sateh and spring rolls are very nice. It's busy most of the time with local people which is a good sign IMO.

Thanks to the recommendation of a Thai friend we had a very enjoyable Thai dinner in this lovely Terrace overlooking a beautiful flower field watching the gorgeous sunset. The owner had kindly reserved the table with the best view for us. The fried northern mushrooms strongly recommended by her was surprisingly good. Despite the lovely setting and tasteful decor the price is very reasonable. Highly recommended to anyone coming over to Chiangmai
The rural setting for this eatery is beautiful - a series of intimate tables under the tropical trees. The name Lhongkhao Tummuan can be translated as Grandad's rice barn. However my wife's Thai dishes were very average and my fish and chips tasteless (the chips were not properly made but oven chips). Although the food was disappointing it is a wonderful place to share an intimate glass of beer or a coffee.

We spent 5 weeks in the Hang Dong area and fell in love with place. The surrounding is stunning: mountain views, greenery and plants all around and a peaceful setting. We particularly liked sitting in the front veranda by the fish pond. The owner, Peter, is a very friendly person, he likes to interact with his customers and he is very proud of his restaurant and their very talented chef, his wife! The food is delicious. Over our two visits we tried different Thai dishes and they were all spot on. Cherry on top of the cake, their eclectic selection of international beers and specialty crafted beers from Thailand and neighbouring countries. If you are looking for an evening out with food to remember, give The Village a try. You won't regret it.

Highly regarded restaurant but don't expect your favourite traditional Thai dishes to be served here.

We stopped here for lunch after walking around the shops in the heat. The service is friendly and accommodating to suit vegetarians. We ordered the noodle salad, pad see ew and a fresh lime drink all for 135 baht. All of them were very good with the noodle salad being especially refreshing on a hot afternoon. The prices are very reasonable and the ingredients are fresh. The cheeriest locals we encountered in Baan Tawai.

A absolutely beautiful location for a meal. Dine in a tropical rain forest complete with waterfalls, streams, ponds, and gardens. Even the restrooms place you in a tropical rain forest. Food is priced reasonably given the location and setting. What we ordered was very tasty. Service was great.

If you're in the area, this is a fun place to stop into. Situated on a hill, you can see out into the valley and relax on lounge chairs or sit beneath fans with water misters. Lots of cakes and frothy drinks for those with sweet teeth.

In a charming garden, sits a playground made of natural bamboo built around a magnificent tree; a place where kids can explore and find new friends. Meanwhile, adults can have a taste of Mediterranean or Thai food, cooked with mainly organic ingredients.
It's so nice to go and spend money in a place where the staff seem happy and genuinely appreciate the business you are bringing.Having visited twice in the last couple of weeks, the play area is very good for the kids and although when we visited last Saturday daytime it was busy and I guess could be seen as noisy for people without kids the place has a large aircon inside area which is quiet. Although a big garden the owner has not been greedy putting too many tables outside. The food is reasonably priced and good quality. We will return again soon..Thank you for your review, we'll do our best to stay in your favorites!

My expectations of an upmarket fast food joint were totally wiped away by the standard of food in this restaurant. The chef clearly knows his business and the dishes chosen by our group of four were all good. This is an informal semi-rural restaurant with views over the Grand Canyon Water park. Service was prompt and friendly without being obtrusive. Portions are just right and the prices represent excellent value for money - We paid 850 Baht for four with beer and mineral water and five main dishes. The wifi works well. Parking is easy and the hours are 7 days a week from 08.00 to 20,00.On our list for some return visits I think.
