Have just tried their new online service which I can only say is brilliant. Chose to pay on delivery as we usually do so no problems with them getting the money. The food, as usual, is outstanding. Canât fault the delivery and it made a perfect New Years Eve night in. Well done Thai Bowl. If you like Asian food this is definitely the best takeaway it Retford.

New to area and first time we tired Everest, Iâm afraid after spending £27 I was quite disappointed. The staff were absolutely great, it was the food that didnât live up to my expectations. The garlic naan had no flavour. Take away bag was dripping in oil and the bag split as I got home. Boxes of food were not labelled and the worst thing was the chicken. It was the cheapest looking undercooked chicken Iâve seen in a long time. I hate to think what sort of meat this restaurant is buying but Iâm afraid based on the above we will be looking for other Indian restaurants in the area....

RETFORD CHINESE RESTAURANT âFREDâSâ IS A TOWN FAVOURITEYou can always guarantee that the Chinese Restaurant in Grove St, Retford is consistently cooking Chinese food. There is a constant flow of people into the takeaway every evening-but nobody asks for Fred. It is owned by Chinese and staffed by Chinese. They are canny enough to know that a lot of English people are totally put off by anything which is foreign, and that applies to Chinese restaurant names as well. So, if you tell people to go to Fredâs they feel comfortable. It is easy access at the doorway and there is a good counter-just at the right height-with the usual huge menu that you find in Chinese restaurants laid out on it in front of you. I always find it fascinating to see that virtually all Chinese restaurants serve exactly the same food. They do it in exactly the same way and probably all use the same wholesalers. So the beef is never like English or Scottish beef at all but slices of some other beef! There are always prawns and monkfish and spring onions and ginger and black bean sauce and yellow bean sauce. They are just put together under armies of chefs able to cope with hundreds of dishes. But still I like Chinese food! Down the side of the takeaway is a long narrow restaurant, which is fully carpeted with striped comfortable carpet. It is lit largely by hidden up- lighters, blue and green coloured-along the tops of the walls. This contrasts with the maroon tablecloths and their crisp white overlays. When you sit down you are immediately handed a pile of packaged hot hand towels. This enables one to clean oneâs hands before using them to eat some spareribs. And the spare-ribs here are very good. The meat is succulent because only small bones seem to be used.I went with my oldest son and his wife. To start with we shared a big platter. Everything was hot, in that it had come freshly from the oven. The inevitable crinkly green seaweed came with a pastry package of tender shrimps. For my main dish I had some pieces of monkfish dressed in a sweet chili sauce which I found to be extremely tasty. My son had the beef and black bean sauce and my daughter-in-law prawns done in garlic and Peking sauce. They complained about nothing-until they got the bill and found that one of the items-the beef-had been done in the wrong bean sauce. The bottle of red Isla Negra From Chile was rich and palatable. Perhaps drinking this made us all feel that one mistake on the order didnât matter. The service was polite and helpful. I finished the evening with a bowl of ice cream and lychees. I said leechees-although the Chinese man who owns the place said they were called light- cheese. Well he should know!Unfortunately more attention needs to be given to the male toilets. There were no disabled toilets as far as I could see nor were any bars put in any of the others that could have been used as a disabled toilet. There was not a baby change in sight. I expect very few babies go into Fredâs. However, I do feel that every so often during the evening the black-and-white tiles in the Gents do need checking as some of their customers have not found out yet the correct way to aim!Still, I had enough of the packaged tissues to wipe my hands. And Fredâs provides cloth serviettes which I always appreciate.Fredâs restaurant tends to be a little pricey but the food is consistently of good standard-and all of the staff are polite and friendly

Lovely Cantonese restaurant situated on the outskirts of Retford A1 motorway. New ownership from 7/10/2019 and the owner n staff welcome new and regular customers to the new refurbished restaurant. Exciting dishes will be added to the current menu soon. C
Stopped here again when returning from holiday for the Sunday buffet, itâs brilliant value for money and the staff are very attentive,we arrived just after 1pm and it was quite busy, got sat quickly and our drinks and starters arrived very quickly, over 200 dishes to choose from ,all food is cooked to order and you can ask for small dishes if you want so you can try as many as you can, defiantly recommend this place and look forward to our next visitThank you Bovlincoln, we just taken over from the previous owner and always looking to maintain the standard of food quality/services already set at this place but we want to make it more special than before with new dishes coming out soon and few referb on the building to let customers feel more relax while dinning at the restaurant.

A quite wet Tuesday evening, gave the Gurkha a try. Both our dishes were well flavoured , one bursting with mint, the other with coriander Hariyali & Sagarmatha and the roti was the second best after the one I had in Jaipur (India).Pleasant relaxed Indian background music, just right. The lighting was a tad dated in this modern LED era.Overall a good mealGoing to go for the Thali evening they hold.

Visited Yash with small group of friends (6) on Thursday evening restaurant was half full.Firstly I have to say the food was good, everything was tasty and exactly as ordered. Unfortunately the service wasnât great, most of staff were quite miserable barely speaking and actually tutted when we asked for 5 more mins to peruse the menu before placing order (we had only been there 5 mins!) We waited nearly an hour for food. When we left we had to step over buckets of cutlery near the door ? no-one said thank you or goodbye, all very odd, it was almost like we were an inconvenience. A real shame and I hope that this review is taken constructively
