The Best Chinese Buffet in The Valley. Catering for all Parties (up to 100 people). Plenty of Free Parking Behind our Restaurant. Free Delivery with Food Orders Over $30 (in Town Only).
We arrived at 1PM on a drizzly weekday and found the place pretty empty. We were seated promptly and drinks arrived in good time. The server was polite and friendly, checking back once for a coffee refill and not otherwise needed. The food selection was quite good. The quantities were a little sparse (but adequate) due to us being an hour off their usual lunch schedule. The main problem that dropped them from 'Very Good' down to 'Poor' was that virtually all of the food was either too cool or downright cold. Nothing was hot, so dishes were greasy or limp. This might not be a problem at their main seating time. Nice selection, pleasant staff - but cold food will leave us looking elsewhere in the future.

This is a small cosy place and you have to look carefully not to miss it. It is very nice inside and has a good selection of Thai dishes, some of which have photos in the menu. Also does take out. Nice touches in the decor.
Thai Gardens is located right in the center of downtown Pembroke, is much decorated with all sorts of Thai memorabilia, photographs and paintings and the proprietress is a most friendly person who also does all the cooking. This small and clean restaurant is not a fancy place but the Thai food it makes is the best. In short, this is a memorable restaurant that is sure to please. We had the seafood special for two and a sizeable bowl of Tum Yum soup for each of us. Both entrees were excellent with sizeable portions. The Tum Yum soup, (about $7 US), had a very distinct taste; a bit different from most Tum Yum I've had. I would say it was better than the usual soup in that it was slightly on the sweet side, lacking the slightly bitter vinegary taste that one often gets with Tum Yum soup. The seafood entrée,(about $10 US), was really a stew with plenty of fish content. The restaurant did not skimp on the ingredients provided for both the stew and Tum Yum soup. Parking is readily available on the street in this quiet town situated on the Ottawa River.

This is one of our favourite Chinese restaurants. We have enjoyed several visits over this summer, with excellent food selection and all the service you really need for a buffet. The selection is quite good, with a bit of variation on the weekend. Their honey garlic spare ribs are a real treat. There is something for everybody in this selection.

The food is all freshly made with care, and the presentation and taste are always on par. Upon entering, there are numerous, large signs stating that all food is made to order, so depending on what you choose, the wait can be anywhere from 20-40 minutes, but it's well worth it. The Vietnamese peanut sauce is absolutely delicious.

You will see mixed reviews for this place....the two main positive comment types are about the female owner of how funny or unique she was...well, I didn't see anything unique about her..I found her inattentive, a bit rude but no big deal...however, she was making food with her bare hands, then to delivering and taking orders...so not the most sterile situation. The husband - I gather was friendlier but I could see him working on maintenance stuff in back kitchen then coming and dealing with food...not the neatest couple. The second common positive comment I have seen is how great the sushi is...better than anything elsewhere...to those folks I can only wonder what their experiences have been to make such an outlandish statement. Some of the sushi was okay..I will admit that it is a sushi place and the sushi was...well, okay. Anything cooked was an oil tasting, overcooked, greasy mess. The shrimp tempura...I don't think they know what that is. Breaded shrimp...correction, breaded small shrimp, would be disappointing at a low price chain family restaurant like Denny's or something...let alone here. Salad...some iceberg lettuce that was browning due to age with a couple of matchsticks of carrot and cucumber..and I mean only a couple...was their version of a salad. . The hot food...total grease made me feel sick actually. Ambiance...NONE...a greasy spoon diner motif with a few asian decorations thrown up. Our ot ~20 sushi places I have been two, this was second worst.
