Just by coincidence, I wound up here on two separate occasions in the past two weeks. Once was for dinner hibachi - and the other for take-away maki roll craving. The hibachi was entertaining - food was amazingly fresh and delicious. The take away maki rolls satisfied a week long craving. Ready so fast my head was spinning.

Take out order consisted of Tom Yum soup, cashew chicken, sticky rice, and pad Thai. The soup had a nice flavorful broth but the addition of tomatoes was unwelcome and there was very little substance to it (mostly broth). Cashew chicken appeared to be mostly an assembly of ingredients with very little actual preparation ... NO "sauce" just a thin broth with very little flavor. Chicken was tough from being over cooked (boiled in the thin liquid) and carrots were nearly raw. Hardly any pineapple. And a piece of a shell from a mussel was found in this dish (we ordered nothing with mussels and even told them one in our party had a shellfish allergy). Sticky rice was good and plentiful for the price. Pad Thai (sans shrimp) was dry, mostly noodles, very few ground peanuts and did not come with the traditional sauce on the side. Again, tough chicken. Possibly cooked ahead/separately from the texture. We tried Lotus because it's much closer than the other Thai restaurants we like but next time I'll pay the extra delivery fee to have Thai Cafe dashed to us. This was not a repeat for me. Notably, the service was pleasant on the phone and at pickup. That's the only reason this was not a 1 star review.

So I have been to maybe 30-40 hibachi restaurants... I am picky but honest about everything. Service â Walking in the âhostâ was, well young and inexperienced. When she told me it would be 20 minute wait, I said âno problem can we have a drink at the barâ⦠This apparently was a strange request as she was very confused⦠any way no big deal. Bartender was good. Sat for dinner, waitress was AWFUL, attitude like she acted like she HATED her job, asked me what I wanted from about 8-10 feet away (no joke) then proceeds to say âI canât hear youâ, I was like âWell can you come closer so I donât have to yellâ! Cook/chef (I consider this to be separate from service as truly they make or break a âGreatâ night at a hibachi place, and understand its all hit or miss who you get). This guy was no more than âokâ not saying he was awful just had MUCH better before. Atmosphere- Well its strange, to be blunt itâs not for me, itâs an old garage of some type, yes they have done a good job renovating it but itâs still well certainly NOT upscale.. It maybe for Woonsocket but VERY basic compared to most other Hibachiâs I have been to. Food- Surprisingly the food was great. May not be the best I have ever had but considering all the previous negatives I was VERY presently surprised. If you can get over the first part go try them for the food oh WAIT very, very importantâ¦. GO ON MONDAY OR TUESDAY ONLY! Donât forget the âValueâ well these two days just about all is âhalf priceâ, as it was hall price I went all out and got the âdeluxeâ (Filet, Lobster, Scallops, Shrimp)⦠would I have said it was worth $40⦠umm no but best $20 I have spent at these places⦠if you just want say Chicken or steak etc your meal is only $10 and GREAT value! Summary, service sucks (or at least for me) the Atmosphere, as I said not for me, food great, value EXCELANT provided you go on Monday/Tuesday. Would I go again? Maybe if I was in the area and friends wanted to goâ¦

Amazing Thai food. Perfectly cooked, always hot. Wednesday - Friday, there is a buffet featuring pad thai, house rice, crab rangoons, cashew chicken, curry, and more. Ridiculously affordable (provided you have the opportunity to go to the buffet) and gives you the opportunity to sample an array of items. Always a great experience.

Have been going to Chan's in Woonsocket for years to attend various national music acts ranging from Blues, to Texas honky tonk. Owner brings in high caliber talent, ticket prices fair, seating is a little scrunched during a full house, but the food has consistently gone downhill. Have tried ordering off the menu, have tried the buffet, have attempted just the appetizers, nothing seems to work. Have tried to just order coffee and dessert and multiple times, their dessert menu is "unavailable". Recent order of vegetable tempura, was down right awful and worth a large laugh at the same time. Chan's version of vegetable tempura was french fries, one string bean, one thing that was either a mushroom or a piece of squash, and one other unidentifiable tempura(d) something! This choice should be taken off the menu! My husband's meal was sent back as it was delivered cold, and then the boneless ribs and chicken pieces were so hard, they could not be chewed, but they could be bounced off the plate in time to the drummer. We will continue to go to Chan's because it is a great small venue for terrific acts, but we have vowed to never TRY to eat there again.
