A group of seven of us came here for lunch after enjoying the beauty, culture and small scale industries at My Tho villages. The restaurant is in a nice setting by the banks of the Mekong (Tien) River. The grounds are beautiful inviting visitors to wander around enjoying its beauty and well maintained ponds and grounds. There are benches too in the gardens and you feel like sitting there to enjoy the environment. The restaurant is very large and can probably seat more than 500 guests. Our food had been pre-ordered by the tourist company. The food served of course will depend on the order. We enjoyed our meal of fried fish with sautéed fish sauce, spring rolls, shrimps prepared in a variety of ways, tasty veggies, fried rice and a variety of other food. The food was delicious.

After doing a bit of island hopping and enjoying what each had to offer, the magnificent setting and gardens of this restaurant was a really pleasant surprise. And apparently so were the mens' toilets with some interesting artwork... The ladies' bathrooms were spacious and clean. Although geared to accommodate big groups every day, the attention and service our small group got was very good and unhurried. The shrimp balls in particular are very good. It was a pity we were on a tight schedule, as it would have been great to just spend some time in that tranquil environment. Well worth a visit, although it is quite pricey.

We stopped at Mekong Tram Dung - Mekong Rest Stop for lunch during a day in the Mekong Delta. It is an open air restaurant comprising of a main building including souvenir shop, numerous covered dining areas, rest rooms, beautifully manicured gardens and pond. The pond was full of lotus flowers albeit not in their peak flowering season.Although a very busy place the impact is managed well by visitors being scattered among the numerous dining areas.First sight of the table revealed deep friend Elephant-ear fish. The idea is to put the fish in a rice paper wrap and eat it along with salad and dips. The fish was crispy on the outside but nice and tender on the inside. Our full menu was;- Young coconut body salad with shrimps & pork.- Fresh salad with shrimps & pork spring rolls.- Fried sticky ball rice (it was huge!).- Crispy fried âElephant Earâ fish.- Mekong pancake stuffed with shrimps & pork.- Cantonese fried rice.- Ba ba sweet. It was a very hot day so chosen drink was cold Saigon Beer. The restaurant was very helpful in providing alternatives for those who didnât eat e.g. shrimp. We had a great time at Mekong Tram Dung.
