Our litmus test for any Thai restaurant is green curry. Too many Thai restaurants use prepared/pre-fab curry paste which tend to be thick and gummy. This restaurant makes their green curry from scratch. Hence, the 5 stars on this visit. We had the $10 lunch special which includes soup, a choice of appetizer (chicken sate and egg roll), salad, and main dish. We ordered cashew chicken and green curry pork, with the request that the green curry be extra spicy. The green curry pleased and passed the test. We want to return for dinner to try other dishes.
During their grand opening, I went to this restaurant several times. Each time, the service was slow (too long for lunch time) and I had to basically ask for everything, water, tea, check, etc. The servers are very disorganized and I felt like I need to get up and help them (being a former waitress during my teen years). The food however, was tasty but took a long time to get. Sorry for this review but it is my honest truth. Perhaps there has been some changes to servers???
After getting lost and ending up in the wrong town, stopped in here for lunch. Wife and I had the wonton soup and spring rolls. Broth was flavorful and loaded with wontons, and they were tasty.Spring rolls and dipping sauce were also good. Thai tea was good. As noted, there are places to sit, but is mainly a takeout place.

I went in for lunch for the lunch special with my friend and it took a good 20 minutes before our dishes came out. Its a small place. They seemed to cook the to-go orders before serving the people that are here sitting in the chairs. I think it should be the other way around. Average flavor, decent price but priority was mishandled by management.

Located in downtown Martinez, Sunflower Garden is family owned and operated. It is comfortable and inviting and has a very extensive menu. There are a number of special lunch items as the restaurant is near a number of government office buildings and the court house. There is also a full bar. The restaurant is comfortable and welcoming with a refined décor. The servers are very gracious and efficient. There is metered street parking and a small lot across the street. The very busy Martinez Amtrak depot is two blocks away so this is a convenient place to dine before or after the train trip.

Food was good to very good, but the guy who took our order was not heavy on people skills. The young lady who followed, was both pleasant and courteous. May poor English skills was the culprit, for the first guy. This place has a nice decor, good and authentic, food selections, and is worth a try.

All kinds of little Asian knick-knacks and art on walls and shelves around this fairly small dining room. Staff are very friendly and greet you promptly. The extensive menu included all of the usual Thai dishes, as well as some less common ones such as Grapow chicken, Pra Pam and Mussamun Curry, and larb or papaya salad. Everything that we ordered was wonderfully aromatic and full of complex flavors. We ordered our food "Thai spicy", and as much as we love heat will probably have them tone it down just a little the next time. The Tom Kha Gai, Mussamun and Lemongrass Chicken were exceptional. The servings are generous, but not huge like can be typical in many Asian restaurants, so definitely order a dish per person. Also, they will serve the food as individual entrees, not "family style", unless you specify otherwise. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just so you know.Service is friendly but can get disorganized. Last time we were in they brought some of our order, then served another table, then some more of our order, then another table, then finished with us, which resulted in some of our party having our food long before others in our party. Something for them to work on...

We had heard that Hanabi was excellent, but never made it there, partly because until just recently they opened an hour later on weekends than what was posted on their website. That is fixed now, yay.Absolutely delighted. The atmosphere is pleasing and calm, without being overly fancy. Service was quite efficient and courteous. Outside seating if you wish, but the view is just a big parking lot, so...Excellent food. I had a sushi combo which included California Roll, teka-maki, and 6 peices of assorted nigiri, as well as a cup of miso and a salad. The salad was crisp and fresh, a standard Asian dressing. I thought the dressing was perhaps a bit sweet, but my companions liked it. The miso was good, not as deeply flavored as some I've had, but prefectly good. The teka maki and nigiri were outstanding, The fish was absolutely fresh, flavorful and sweet, cut perfectly without a bit of sinew, which can really detract from lower quality sushi. I trylu enjoyed every bite. One of my companions had barbecued beef, which was tendcer and tasty, while my wife had ton katsu that she thought was wonderful. Both of their meal also came with salad and miso,We finished up with Green Tea ice cream, one serving of which was plenty for 3.. The whipped cream and drizzle of chocolate syrup actually detracted from the clean, light taste of the ice cream, if I order it again I will ask them to leave that stuff off.Prices are very moderate- 3 meals and the ice cream were under $45, including tax.

I don't often eat Chinese food, but when I do, I want something special and Sunflower is something special. First the staff are wonderful. Second the flavorings on the food are unique and everything doesn't taste the same. Third, they will accommodate special requests. This trip we had the walnut shrimp, general chicken, Hunan chicken and schezwan chicken. Each of the flavors were profoundly different and the dishes cooked perfectly.

The food was spotty. The yellow curry was good, the pork dish was okay and the garlic noodles with shrimp(I replaced the shrimp for chicken) was awful. Totally overcooked. On the upside, the sampler platter and the tempera fried banana were delicious.
