Find out what Asian restaurants to try in Kollam. Kollam (IPA: [koɭɭəm]) or Quilon (Coulão), formerly Desinganadu, is an old seaport and city on the Laccadive Sea coast of the Indian state of Kerala. The city is on the banks Ashtamudi Lake. Kollam has had a strong commercial reputation since the days of the Phoenicians and Romans. Fed by the Chinese trade, it was mentioned by Ibn Battuta in the 14th century as one of the five Indian ports he had seen during the course of his twenty-four year travels. Desinganadu's rajas exchanged embassies with Chinese rulers while there was a flourishing Chinese settlement at Kollam. In the 9th Century, on his way to Canton, China, Persian merchant Sulaiman al-Tajir found Kollam to be the only port in India visited by huge Chinese junks. Marco Polo, the Venetian traveller, who was in Chinese service under Kublai Khan in 1275, visited Kollam and other towns on the west coast, in his capacity as a Chinese mandarin.

The Foodys at Kollam serves tasty and authentic Chicken, Mutton, North Indian Veg dishes and other items like starters, desserts, salads, roti's, fried rice, noodles, biriyani's, Arabic food etc. Last time we visited the restaurant the seats were almost fully occupied but the staff immediately arranged seats for us. The restaurant which is upstairs is well maintained and furnished properly and the service is excellent. Chinese & Russian salads, Arabic Mixed Grill platter, Mutton platter, Achari Chicken, Chicken 65, Chicken Beroti Kebab, kadai ghost, matka mutton, fish Goan curry, fish Amrithsari, finger fish, crispy paneer, chilli paneer, prawn noodles, rumali roti, Kashmiri naan, butter naan, cream caramel,gulab jamun...the selections are many. Most of the items served are really good and authentic and both Non Vegetarians and vegans have dishes to select. Nice restaurant to dine with family and friends

I had read about these being setup many years ago by the Kerala Coffee Growers Coop.....I was walking after dinner and saw sign by RP Mall so I popped in for coffee. Wow - what a throwback - like old style dinner - basic but what appeared to be good food - lots of families enjoying themselves and pricing that canât be beat as well as good service. Give it a go for a unique experience.

Sri Ayyappa Restaurant at Chinnakkada serves Punjabi Food like tandoori roti, naan, kulcha, porotta etc with variety of aloo, paneer, daal side dishes and they have Andhra Meals, Bombay meals, pulav, biriyani, rice items etc - all prepared in the traditional style. The vegetarian restaurant is almost like a dhaba and seems to be popular there from the number of customers coming. The restaurant has just normal seating and they give takeaways too. Service is prompt and the rates are reasonable. Nice outlet to have some veg food, especially Punjabi special.

All Spice Restaurant is a professionally managed restaurant, part of Supreme group of establishments and with that expectation we went to the restaurant. Must say that we were not disappointed, the food, service and ambience - all are good. They serve traditional Kerala food apart from Chinese, Continental, Arabic items etc. Soups, Salads, Sandwiches, Sizzlers, Tandoori dishes, Malabar style biriyani's, Arabic dishes, milkshakes, fresh juices... they have a variety of had picked items. The staff are very polite and extend excellent service. The restaurant is perfect to dine with family or on special occasions with guests.

Keraleeyam is the in-house restaurant of The Raviz Resort & Spa, Kollam and dining here was an experience. Went to the restaurant for dinner after completing a project with the promoters and the Raviz Resorts & Spa itself is a feast to the eyes. The restaurant is well designed with good decor and furniture and has the provision to sit outdoor too. The view of the tranquil Asthamudi Lake from the restaurant is breathtaking and we really enjoyed our dinner taking time. The food was exceptional, Karimeen special and fish curry are to be mentioned specially. Variety of sea foods, Non Veg & North Indian Style Veg dishes (Though named Keraleeyam - they serve Chinese, Continental, Mediterranean, European delicacies too), the food is prepared and served by experienced professionals. The warm hospitality extended by the staff are to be mentioned specially. Be it with family or on special occasions, Keraleeyam will give a great dining experience.

We had stayed you club mahindra ashtamudi. As the food at resort was very costly we regularly ordered food from this restaurant. Even including transport {for delivery}, bill was 1/4th of resort cost and quality and quantity of food was equally as good as resort

Ramees Restaurant is the right place to have authentic Dum Biriyani in Kollam. Their Malabar style dishes like chicken and mutton dishes are very popular and I really like their "Kozhi Pottitherichathu" shredded chicken marinated with masala and fried in oil. Crowded most of the times the restaurant have proper seating and the service is excellent. Parking is a problem at times and they give takeaway too. Nice restaurant for Lunch or dinner with family or friends.

Have been to Wok & Grill while on a business visit to Kollam and must say that they are real professionals serving authentic Thai, Chinese and North Indian food. The Chicken tandoori, Honey Chilli Chicken and Chicken sizzler etc are really good. The service was excellent, the staff very polite and customer friendly. The restaurant is with good decor and seating and overall the ambience is great. Nice restaurant to dine with family or guests.
