Stumbled upon this restaurant while walking down an arcade. Quickly looked up the restaurant and saw it had great reviews, so we went in. It was only a short wait as there was another party ahead of us. As other reviewers have described the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and I loved that they made our food in front of us. I ordered the mini special okonomiyaki and it was very tasty and filling; I would recommend! This restaurant was one of the highlights of my visit to Nara. Cash only.

Date of visit: 21/02/2018This restaurant was famous for the traditional Japanese rice cooked in an iron pot - Kamameshi. They do not accept reservation, so everyone must queue up for a placement. The waitress will give out a waiting card every now and then and they will take your order as the rice takes time to cook.On the day we waited for at least 2 hours before we got two seats at a bench table. The rice we ordered were prawn kamameshi and Eel kamameshi. Taste and quality of food: average. As the seafood was overcooked. They lost their sweetness and was a bit rubbery.Price for two pots of kamameshi for lunch was close to A$65.00. We think that was a bit over-priced.As there were lines and lines of guests waiting outside the restaurant, so the waitress will clear your table once they see you done with your food. It was not a pleasant way to enjoy a meal. So, a well-known restaurant may not be good after all.

It was published in the Michelin Guide 2017 Nara Edition. Our shop is fully homemade noodles. Every morning, freshly cut noodles are boiled and you can enjoy it with fried tempura. Please enjoy Sanuki and the new udon of Nara that weaves with Kansai style
The restaurant is located in a small street, a few minutes walking distance from Nara station. We ordered two different menus to share. Nice thick udon noodles served with tempura and the other menu with a tasty beef broth. The restaurant closes a few hours between lunch and dinner time. Friendly staff and fair prices.

To find the shop, as you exit Kintetsu Nara Station, just walk a little south along Mochiidono-center-gai shopping arcade. Flavorful curry and curry bun made with plenty of vegetables and tasty spices. The varied menu runs from non spicy much items loned
Went here on a cold day after sightseeing. Their menu is amazing, with a lot of different styled curries (spinach, lamb, chicken, beef - and also vegetarian options!) and different levels of spiciness, ranging from sweeter, Japanese style curry to spicier ones. Their lunch set is quite good, paid 880 yen for a vegetarian curry cheese gratin, salad and some baguette. Portion size was perfect for me. For those who can't decide on one curry, they also offered a plate featuring four different kind of curries! Definitely coming back here soon!

It’s a Japanese style teppanyaki place. Duck salad had the right acidity. Leaves were fresh and crispy. Japanese beef was juicy, tender and cooked to perfection. The rice with pickles and soup after main course were lovely and satisfying as well. The only shortage might be a little bit pricy.

Ganko is a reliably good, not great Tonkatsu chain offering good value. They have always- good tonkatsu, a tasty sauce and nice touches like pink rock salt in grinders, seven- spice mix in shakers, and so on. As in most of western Japan, you get a bowl with ridges on the bottom with a little wooden implement and sesame seeds, which you grind down and to which you add the sauce. Ganko is not fancy but quick, friendly and dependable. Sometimes it’s just the thing if you are late into town and it’s too late to do a good check on the local eats.In that vein, I went in and of course was neither thrilled nor disappointed. My tonkatsu was hot, good and reasonably priced. My server was nice, and after I joked a bit with her, also a bit cheeky – she clearly knew how to conduct herself with a wide variety of customer types. Respect! This outlet is in the covered shopping alley of Shinsaibashi suji. Even though the area is full of places to eat, Ganko had a lot of customers – always a good sign.

My friend suggested this family operated restaurant. Never judge a book by its cover because they offered me the absolute best tuna i have tasted in Japan. I am returning tomorrow to eat again and i might double on my order. Prices are surprisingly low for what you get, i would honestly pay 1.5 times more for this level of freshness. Thanks form having me!

We have been there because we found this restaurant on trip advisor. What can we say... We were absolutely fascinated about the food which was so good. We are both vegetarians and it was absolutely no problem to get the vegetarian version of the Okonomiyakiya (we had it with noodles - you can also get other dishes in a vegetarian version). The prices are unbeatable low.Thank you so much for this excellent food! The chef/waitress was so nice and cared a lot about her customers. We hope we can come back some day, it was the best food we had so far in Japan.ご来店とレビューをありがとうございます。大変光栄なレビューを嬉しく思います。いつか又お会いできることを楽しみに致します。 from Kazumi
