Came in to order take out for my family. I ordered before anyone in an almost full restaurant. Everyone got served as I waited 45 min. I asked if my order was coming up. 10 minutes that say. They could care less that I was waiting . They cared even less when I cancelled my order and walked out. Dissapointing. Iâm local and I wonât be back!

There are 28 lunch specials offered; allserved with fried rice and an egg roll. Many hot & spicy dished are available also. IF YOU DON't opt for one of the specials, many other options are available--appetizers, soups, egg foo young, chow mein,lo mein, beef, seafood, low cal, etc. Etc. Chef's Specialties are also shown on the menu. Most of their business appears to be carryout but there are tables if you elect to eat in.Overall, a very good option to get tasty Chinese food fast.

As we went off season one must consider that this affects timeliness of service. We ordered at the take out counter and had our food freshly prepared in 20 minutes. The quality was great and there were a few twists in the ingredients that were new to us. So this was a pleasant adventure in dining. I would recommend it for take out. There is very limited seating so this is not really a sit in place and that is why it only gets 4 stars. Highly recommend giving it a try.

With all the glowing reviews we had to try this place since we greatly love oriental cuisine and the choices are limited for us locals in the Outer Banks. First, we probably should have had a sushi appetizer because of the many great reviews sushi gets from other visitors. Instead, wife ordered the Pad Thai with softshell crab and I had the mixed vegetables with shrimp (both ordered on the mild hotness option). The Pad Thai was done well but could have had more fish sauce ingredient for better flavor; also next time we would order the medium spicy option and suggest that for others as a better choice (no fish, hot or soy sauces available on the table to adjust your own flavor choice). The mixed vegetable dish was disappointing for two main reasons: the vegetables were mainly onions, regular cabbage pieces and bell pepper with a few mushrooms and broccoli florets. Totally bummed out that there were no bean sprouts or any other of the usual chinese vegetables or chinese mushrooms/black fungus. Use of regular cabbage instead of Bok Choi and the bell pepper could were not what I think of as "oriental" cuisine. Finally, the "sauce" on my dish consisted of a watery beef broth with a hint of oriental flavors..........not bad, just not typical or something I would want again. We will definitely go back to this restaurant and try the sushi and perhaps a ramped up spiciness for the Pad Thai.Servings are small for the price and don't expect leftovers to take home.

We had dined here when we were on vacation a few years ago and it was relatively good, so we decided to stop in again for dinner. When we walked in the hostess was very nice. Small wait but no biggie. When we were seated the waiter was like a tyrant. He rushed us to get our drink order. He was extremely rude the entire time. The grills are dirty and need to be cleaned. Dried food crumbs in the crevices that have clearly been in there awhile. Our chef came and he was friendly but he burned his arm while he was doing the volcano. After that he rushed to finish cooking the food and the vegetables werenât cooked all the way. Our waiter came back and gave us the checks and we were charged for extra chicken that we didnât receive. So, the waiter went over to the chef and cursed at him in front of us and another table. We couldnât believe how horrible the service was. The staff was not friendly other than the hostess. We will not return.

Just had lunch there, appitizer platter and chicken Pad Tai. Apps were OK, small lumpia, spring rolls, not much in them, like eating fried wraps. Wings were good, and the won ton. Not much chicken in the Pad Tai, mostly noodles, and not spicy enough for us, I guess we are spoiled from eating at our favorite Rama Garden in Norfolk. They were very busy for lunch, full house, service was good, even with all the orders. Probably would not eat there again, just too average. I think if you like Sushi, you would like theirs. No sushi I.

During a recent family vacation to the Outer Banks (Kitty Hawk) North Carolina, we had the opportunity to sample exceptional local Thai cuisine. I use the word exceptional because of the flavors, aromas, fresh ingredients, and the presentation (also the great service). As anyone who has visited the Outer Banks (aka: OBX) can tell you, there are a significant number of dining choices along âThe Bypassâ (also known as Croatan Highway and U.S. Highway 158, the Bypass is the longest road on the Outer Banks). Options range from national burger and taco franchises to pancake houses, to local and national pizza options, and mid to fine dining choices. What you donât always see or know of is there are smaller local family owned restaurants that donât have the budgets for massive advertisement and therefore rely on word of mouth. The Thai Room restaurant is definitely off the beaten path and is a fine example of a no frills, authentic Asian cooking style, offering both Thai and Chinese cuisine. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall and can easily be overlooked while driving down Beach Road. The exterior reminds one that these ocean shops and restaurants have endured ocean storm surges, hurricanes, and all manner of adverse weather and yet continue to persevere.Entering the restaurant you are immediately facing a bar (10 feet from the door) with all manner of spirits, beers and wine. The atmosphere is eclectic with all manner Thai and Chinese decorations adorning the walls, hallways, and anywhere else you might image. Some might call it âkitschâ however it felt authentic in the sense the family had decorated the area, much like you and I would in our personal spaces at home. Our server was courteous, attentive, and informative in answering our questions. Our daughter and son are a bit picky eaters as are the grandkids; however our daughterâs husband was open to try most anything. My wife and I always enjoy the Thai soups and never miss the opportunity to try new versions of them. Our server went over the appetizers, soups, entrees (chicken, shrimp, vegetarian, friend rice, Thai style noodles, chef specials, combination dinners, and childrenâs menu). He was very thorough and emphasized the heat factor (no spice, mild spice, medium spice, on fire spice) food options. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and entrees (everything was timed just right so there was no feeling of being rushed). The appetizers were great and when the entrees arrived the aromas were amazing. My wife ordered the Dom Kah Gai (chicken, coconut milk and Thai spices) and I ordered the Dom Yam Gai (chicken, lemon grass, mushroom and spices). We could not have been more pleased and delighted. Our family had a great Thai culinary experience that was authentic and satisfying.I highly recommend giving this family restaurant a try while on OBX as a reminder that there are still quality eating venues that donât require big budgets to convince potential customers to try great local foods.
