It's only a small space and although it was packed to the rafters, it still managed to feel cosy and intimate. We ordered a selection of dishes .... Benjamin's 'Crap' Bun, Thai Fish Cakes,Sam Choi Bao, Malaysian Laksa with Rockling, Chilli Honey Pepper Beef, and Coconut Black Tiger Prawn, all very tasty but the stand out favourites were the Laksa and Prawns. The only downside was they could all have done with a lot more chilli! Service was great, wine servings generous, we will be back for sure!

It was decent, honest, humble, but not wildly delicious. We had the vegetable dumplings, eggplant, rice, tofu, teriyaki salmon. All just passable, but not wonderful. Price for two of us was $60 including one sake. The decor was modest and the service ok. I'm not heading back in a hurry.

Staying across the street at the Quest Apartments and had a meal out and decided on Chinese. A big crowd for the takeaway is always a good sign that the food was great and I was not disappointed. Had the basic banquet between 3 of us and the selection was balanced. Chicken and corn soup was a little life less, needed something to boost the flavour, rest was great. Vey noisy from a very large family with loads of kids spoilt it for us.Service was terrific .

A group of us went there for dinner one evening. It was set dinner with choices in each course. There was Japanese, Chinese and Western influences in the meals. Very small serves but beautifully presented. Tasty. Great table service.Reasonable prices.

We have lived in Ivanhoe for 4 years and never been to this restaurant. It is upstairs on the first floor of a 'not fancy' building. The entranceway looks a little shabby. From the street it looks like a massive restaurant with very few people in it. But looks can be deceiving. After reading our Osteopaths recommendation we decided to try it and was very pleasantly surprised. The inside presentation is nice, clean and does have excellent views. The menu is quite extensive and just a little bit different to your 'usual' local Thai restaurant. We started with the share platter which was delicious followed by a chicken stir fry and seafood dish. Both were very refreshing on the palate. Simple but flavoursome. Full of fresh veggies and seafood. And such great value for money. the average main is $17-$18. All in all it was great service with perfectly cooked flavoursome food at a great price. Will definitely be going back. Our team are greatly appreciate for your time writing us review and looking forward to see again. We do also have a plan to renovate the entranceway. Thank You
I like in Ivanhoe 15 years ago and Popula was a "local" favourite back then. The small premises with Husband and Wife operation only does takeaway. Always fresh and in the best traditional style made and served in full view. Keenly priced and they have not compromised quality to price match with any nearby "chain/franchise" offerings. Although no longer an Ivanhoe resident I know that when passing through I try to make it lunchtime with a stop at Popula.

Thai Lantern has been here a long time and we were here a couple of years ago when it was a lot better. This time the food was below par, service just OK, ambiance less so.It gives the impression of just going through the motions and lacks any real enthusiasm as a restaurant - still in it for the money.

We've been long time customers of Toyama, including through ownership changes. Its always been strong on food quality and not taking itself too seriously. After visiting last night, I was disappointed with its drop off. Firstly, its quite expensive - expect to pay approximately $30 for a main. When you're eating off old pine tables, that seems a lot.Secondly, the economics of experienced staff make hospitality challenging, but hiring youngsters with no experience and no guidance makes for a frustrating dining experience.Thirdly, its clear the portion sizes have dropped, turning a steak dish into a salad/frozen vegies dish with a side of meat. Its the first time I've had a vegetable/salad combo.Toyama have been great but without some changes we wont be heading back.

We hadn't been here for a while so looked forward to our night out with friends.Parking is very easy and we got a spot just outside. The food was excellent though portion sizes were quite modest. Unfortunately all the wait staff seemed very new and inexperienced. In their endeavours to serve they continually tried to clear some of our dishes/glasses mid meal. Also knowleldge of wine was non existent.Perhaps a bit of training would be well placed.Maybe just an off night.
