Hove /hoʊv/ is a town in East Sussex, England, immediately west of its larger neighbour Brighton, with which it forms the unitary authority Brighton and Hove. It forms a single conurbation with Brighton and some smaller towns and villages running along the coast. This has been on my to do list for some time and Iâm glad Iâve finally been. The food was brilliant and sitting at the bar added to the ambience of the quirky setting. The menu is extensive but not overwhelming with every dish delicious. We particularly liked the Korean fried chicken and the cauliflower but it was all great. Iâm giving this five stars, but there was one minor issue. The front of house chap is pretty rude. Dismissive and a little aloof doesnât give the best first impression but this was a minor blot on an otherwise exemplary meal.

Goemen is an absolutely fantastic little Ramen Cafe. It felt very authentic, with a simple menu suggesting that they have confidence in the relatively narrow range of dishes on offer, & a cafe style dining experience. No frills, just great Japanese food. Choose your meat, or veggie or vegan alternative, and they come in a miso or stock based soup. Our 3 year old daughter LOVED it, & enjoyed slurping her way through a big bowl of noodles.

Very busy on a Friday night, so glad we booked. Set price per person for anything on the menu is such great value and the food is really good. We especially liked the BBQ ribs, chicken satay and duck with pancakes, but everything was tasty and freshly cooked.

A great local independent restaurant serving affordable, tasty and authentic Sri Lankan freshly cooked food. At £25 per head including a shared starter, two mains and a glass of wine each it also offers value.I can't fault it really, it was busy there were plenty of staff and the food was served promptly.Excellent all round.

Tropical Sushi proved to be a success as a POPUP Kitchen appearing around Brighton for the past year. Now you can finds us in our own permanent location. Our menu is a mix of traditional sushi blended with outside the box sushi with a Latin flair. At Trop
Spending an evening in Brighton we needed somewhere to eat. We chose Tropical Sushi largely because of the excellent reviews. We were made to feel very welcome. It took us a while to get our heads around the menu simply because weâre not used to sushi but we were excited by what we saw. We decided to go for the vegetarian gyozas, Wakame, Amazonas platter plus a couple of other dishes and were delighted by each of these tasty morsels of food. Also wonderful were the matcha, tropical and apple coolers we had to drink. We left feeling full and pleased to have tried something new. Iâm giving 4 rather than 5 stars because we felt that the decor and general ambience was somewhat lacking. I would have loved a more Japanese vibe, with tropical overtones. This is something that needs work. The toilet was clean and spacious. All in all, a great place to eat - delicious food!

Best and oldest Malay/Indonesian restaurant in Brighton
My husband, my brother-in-law, our baby niece and I attended this restaurant this previous Sunday (2 days ago), and had an incredible experience. We were seated promptly and the food service was very timely and swift, without being rushed. The taste was incredible and the servers took care to ask us regarding the spice level we preferred. They also permitted us to make alterations to some of the dishes - I dislike prawns and so, they created nasi goreng with chicken, without prawn, at no extra cost. They were friendly and regarding the dishes, we all loved the nasi goreng and cannot compliment it enough. Their egg fried rice was also outstanding. My personal favourite dish was Ayam Kari (a Malaysian style chicken curry) whilst my brother-in-law loved Ayam Daun Jeruk (chicken curry with coconut sauce and lemongrass). My husband loved all of it. The chicken satay and the somai goreng (steamed, fried dumplings) both merit mention for how mouth-watering they were. The portions were very reasonably sized too - 2 currys with nasi goreng and egg fried rice suited 3 adults well. What was a true standout moment was that when my baby niece got distressed and my brother-in-law stood up and walked her around to calm her down, the owner took her, without hesitation, to allow my brother-in-law the opportunity to eat his lunch. This kindness was greatly appreciated by us and was clearly far beyond what we expected. If it were possible, I would give this restaurant 6*s rather than 5*. The food and service were all outstanding.

We are a friendly neighbourhood family-oriented cafe-restaurant serving various British and Asian fusion cuisine. The menu is always changing according to the season and customer feedback. Customers are welcome to bring their own wine and beer at any time
Cafe Asia opened a couple of months ago, replacing a previously excellent asian takeaway. The owner(s) spent significant time refurbishing the building, with a nice lick of green paint and turning it into a breakfast and lunch cafe, as well as a takeaway. We met the owner a few times who is lovely and very friendly. The menu was initially confusing; they started serving english breakfast and sandwiches, with a more asian fusion themed menu apparently to follow. We decided to visit after it had been open for a good month or so, as more asian dishes had been added to the menu.I'll start with a few positives, as I feel you need to give people their fair due:-the cafe is quite nice, with good coffee and a friendly atmosphere.-there is seating outside-free wifi-they have some interesting chinese/asian drinks that you might not get in other cafes, including cans of coconut water, various juices with jelly, almond milk etc.-the waitress was lovely and really did her best to make us feel welcomeWe wanted to get some dinner/light snack - we opted for some dumplings and a 'hong kong style pork chop with home made tomato sauce, egg fried rice and veg'.The dumplings were quite nice, albeit very salty, and a tad pricey (£4 for 4; quite a lot considering I get 8 for a fiver at Itsu)The Hong Kong style pork chop was, I'm sad to say, so awful I momentarily thought I'd landed myself in an episode of Kitchen Nightmares.Other than the fried egg rice, I could not figure out what was asian about it; the thick tomato sauce had cheese(?) on it, tasted like it should've been on a pasta dish, the broccoli that came with it inexplicably tasted fishy, and the less said about the poor chewy pig that died for this dish, the better. The waitress explained that this dish is a big hit in Hong Kong - I'm afraid there's no chance of that here. So, the bad:-the menu is confused; is it British? Is it Asian? It also doesn't help that new dishes appear as hastily printed photocopies on the window, making it look like a cheap takeaway.-Though we should try more dishes to get a full picture, the ones we tried don't instill confidence.-Drinks wise it's nice to have asian options, but sometimes you just want a simple soda, like a coke or a sprite.-no clear distinction between the lunch and dinner menus - I've walked past a few times, pondering if I'll get something, but it is unclear whether some of these dishes are 'portable'. It also tries to impress with 'different' dishes, like said Hong Kong Pork and 'egg noodle wrapped fried chicken', yet lacks some of the basic favourites. Where is the satay? Where are the duck rolls? It's a real shame, as the owner is lovely and as I live near, want them to do well. But they really need to sort their menu out, and up the cooking a level.
