Reviews on Asian food in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. One of the best preserved and most architecturally demonstrative, Himeji's 400-year-old castle is so exquisite that it alone is worth a trip to the city. The castle is close to the train station, so it makes an ideal short stop on a day trip to several sights.

No English is spoken here. The chef is actually locally famous for his ramen dishes. We had wonderful service. One in our party spoke some Japanese and that helped. I had the best Tonkatsu ramen of my lifetime. A wonderfully flavorful broth. A little greenery. Everything is locally sourced including the pork and noodles. Absolutely amazing experience. Don't be afraid of the place if you don't speak Japanese. They are VERY friendly. A little out of the way however.

When I was looking for an eatery late at night, I happened to meet this Yakiniku (grill) restaurant, and it was a pleasant surprise. Their food was delicious, but quite affordable. Like many other restaurants of this kind they serve Korean style Japanese BBQ.

We decided to eat here since it always had customers whenever I passed by. Great decision. Lots of veggies & thick noodles in their tanmen. I ordered the half size which was plenty for me and is a great size to choose if you want to order any of their side dishes. Prices are very reasonable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would eat here again if I'm in Himeji.

Sushi-ichi is SUSHI and SAKE and TATAMI-ROOM. There is a traditional sushi and Himeji sake. It is Himeji of sushi different is flavored with the Tokyo and Kyoto. Cash (yen) or payment by credit card is possible. A 15-minute walk from Himeji Castle or Hime
This place is unbelievably expensive. JPY1,500 for edamame and JPY 2,800 for a tuna roll. JPY 3,000 for 4 types of sashimi!Designed for the unsuspecting tourist. We left after having only sakeThank you for the review.Edamame uses things produced in Japan.Sashimi etc. use special things caught in Japan. Many customers come from local people, corporate dinners and Japanese people.A lot of sakes are prepared by Himeji.Have a nice holiday.(* ^ _ ^ *) /

After a rain soaked visit to HImeji castle, we were famished. Searching for a good restaurant we came across this one. I ordered Grilled Beef cheese baked curry. It was awesome and so was the service. I was intrigued with one experience in some of the Japanese restaurants. The waiters always keep saying something in Japanese - of course I never understood - but to no one in particular, even as they clean the tables. I even turned on my Google Translate to figure it out. It seemed to me they were announcing the daily specials as they continue to walk around and clean clean tables. Can someone confirm this to me, please?

We had lunch here twice on our stay in Himeji and both times the food was tasty and reasonably priced. They have an English menu and the lady who served us went out of her way to be helpful even though she was super busy serving over two levels. Looking for a warm, tasty and filling lunch in Himeji, this is the place for you.Thank you for coming. I am pleased that you praise me, please visit again.

I am traveling in Himeji and checking the reviews on TripAdvisor and other Japanese local food reviews site. Totoro seems to be recommended on various places. It took me a while to find it as the google map has not been reliable. I walked almost 2 loops near the station area before I located it.I finally arrived around 6:15 tonight and the wait was about 20 minutes. Not as bad as I thought it would be.The staff are efficient, they will take your order as soon as you sit at the waiting area. Thereâs English menu and I would say the selection is not huge but sufficient for a lot of people. I was asking for ç½å, however they donât have it. They also ran out of æµ·è½ Uni too. Slightly disappointed but still happy with my order. I had yellowtail, toro, crab roe, flounder, crab, Congo eel. I love them all but I would highly recommend the toro (fatty tuna) for sure! Price is reasonable, itâs a must try if you are in Himeji! I finished the whole meal (9 pieces of sushi) within 15 minute. I will definitely come here again!

Gassai is not going to win any Michelin stars. I've rated it excellent because it executes what it is aiming for very well. Good Izakaya style food and drink at reasonable prices. Unlike a lot of similar places in Japan, it has an English menu. They cater to tourists without wrecking the local atmosphere. Perhaps the reason it keeps its atmosphere is because it is on the "wrong" side of the tracks - the far side of the rails station from the castle - and has no external ignage in English.Cut through the train station. Gassai is only a minute or two past the Nikko Hotel. Look for the lanterns outside. (Check the TA photos or look at Google street view.)

We walked less than 5 minutes from the Daiwa Roynet Hotel, to enjoy our evening at Koba&More.Turning left from the front door of the hotel, and then immediately turning left, you will find Koba&More also on the left. The front entrance is very distinct, you wonât miss it.Sliding the door open, you will find 6 chairs up, at a long wood bar. The food is prepared right across from you in the kitchen while you sit and enjoy your beverage. We had a beer and sake. Food was great, we enjoyed Japanese salad, wontons, and Gyoza. . Very fun, friendly, and owner very personable. Restaurant was open from 6pm until 9pm on a Sunday when we went. It was a special experience and it really made our time in Himeji memorable.
