I've been going to Mandarin Bistro for years, and have yet to have a bad meal. Service is friendly, menu is expansive, and they offer a full bar. The restaurant is cozy and nicely decorated. I'm a big fan of their Kung Pao Chicken, Hot/Sour Soup, and Chicken with Black Bean Sauce. On a recent trip I tried Moo Shu Chicken which was very nice. My son gets the same thing on every visit: won ton soup, pan fried potstickers, and an egg roll. At this point they know his name and his order! They also deliver, which is an option I take advantage of regularly.
Despite the name, The Bakehouse is a Filipino restaurant specializing buffet style. On the Sunday we were there, there were probably about 20 dishes, including dessert. They range from the standard fare of pancit, lumpia, kare kare, dinuguan, etc. to less common ones like small squid cooked in its own ink. Dessert included leche flan, bibingka and puto. This would be a good place to sample Filipino fare, but being a buffet, food is prepared ahead of time and sits on the steam table. Vegetables get mushy and meat falls apart. But if you are hungry and not too discriminating, this is a bonanza. Except for a few non Filipino spouses, patrons were all Filiipino. If you are interested in trying out a number of dishes in one setting, this is the place. But for a few freshly cooked entrees, there are other places. This place started out as a bakery and take out place, expanding to table service a few months ago. There are lots of baked good to try (we didn't), but they look good.
After eating one of the best tasting Filipino cuisine in a long while, I commented to my family that only a restaurant in Vancouver BC Canada called PinPin came up close in flavor and quality. Then, we met the owner whose sister used to own Hong Ning and now runs PinPin in Canada! Here lies the reason for why this place is so MASARAP (delicious). Sure there's Seafood City but this is more "cafeteria" style cuisine or Jolibee which is far from freshly made. Both good but if I am to introduce my American friends to true Pinoy food, this is the place. Everything in the menu will remind you of Lola's homestyle cooking and will bring tears to your eyes. The only negative is I wish they played Pinoy music for the full ambience. You will keep coming back until you've tasted all specialties in the menu. Btw they also have the Kamayan grilled meat and fish basket special. The halo-halo is refreshingly sumptuous. You will leave BUSOG na BUSOG.

Well hadn't been here in a long while and had a pleasant dining experience the other night. For the value of under $11.00 it beats going to any fast food restaurant where you will almost pay that for a mystery burger, fries and a drink! They had the most delicious frog legs when I went there and some of the best "slow roasted" beef I have had in a long time! Yes "frog legs" roasted in a garlic butter! And the variety of oriental chicken combinations were very good also.P.S IWedid not like the oysters at all!

My wife and I are pho-coholics. As non-Vietnamese, we have pho for lunch or dinner couple times a month. Although we live in Naperville, no good pho joint within Naperville area. Years ago, we used to drive to Argyle IndoChinaTown for the pho dining and Asian grocery shopping, but high gas price and H-Mart put the Argyle outings to RIP.Within half-hour drive from Naperville, Pho Ha in Glendale Hts is by far the best pho in DuPage County, mainly because G.H. has a critical mass of Vietnamese population. Pho Ha's Banh Mi sandwich is pretty decent too. Couple other pho joints around G.H. are also not bad either.

The fish is very fresh. Things taste great. Service is always good. The staff is willing to make modifications to orders to accommodate tastes (I hate cucumber and avocado). The place is packed during lunch, so show up early. Dinner depends on the day.The veggie roll is REALLY good. You won't miss the meat at all. It always tastes fresh even in the middle of winter. The staff makes sure they only have fresh ingredients.

Wonderful restaurant on the north side of Wheaton. Never having tasted Burmese food before, owner recommended several dishes. All were delicious. Great, friendly service, very reasonably priced. BYOB, no corking fee. If you forget your booze, don't fear, there's a Jewel in the same plaza.
