Find out what Asian restaurants to try in Essen. Essen began in the mid-9th century as home to a women's abbey, then during the Renaissance became an important coal mining town and later a major steel production center. The famed metal-working Krupp family opened their first foundry here in 1810. One of Essen's most interesting places is the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex, once the largest colliery in the world. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it attracts 800,000 visitors a year, often hosting art exhibitions and performances.

We are not sushi experts but we are getting into it, mainly because it's healthy and you don't feel too guilty about it. We found Noori an interesting concept: instead of the usual sushi belt, you order on a tablet, a max of 5 dishes pp for a max of 10 rounds + drinks. Most of the dishes are included in the buffet price (25,90 Euro on weekends), a couple of specials and the drinks are not. We managed 3 rounds (not all of them with 5 dishes), and I think that was quite average. Again, we are not specialists, but we found the food very fresh and tasty, service super-quick and friendly, and we had a very good night. Do not hesitate ordering the rolls which say 'waiting time 10-20min', as they still come very quickly and they are the best. Prawns sticks and pak choi are also delicious. The spicy tuna temaki are properly spicy! It's not a cheap treat but we would definitely come back.

Not the best I have ever had, but still a good curry. Staff were extremely friendly, service was spot on and not rushed. If you're nearby and want a curry, then I would definitely recommend Taste India. Look out for the fennel elephant.....

I was here with a friend on a lunch, and we had a beer, a glass of wine light cola, chicken masala and another main course. We paid 45 euro and were completely full and satisfied. The food was excellent and very well served. Our only sorrow is that they had no cheese nuan bread.Very recommended

Excellent authentic Korean food. Rather small menu, but something for everyone anyways. All the dishes seem to be freshly cooked, some of them even directly at your table :-).Dishes that are marked "hot" really are hot, but don't worry if you have a low chili tolerance - all the dishes that aren't explicitly marked otherwise are safe for anyone. And there are plenty of those. Vegetarians will find something nice as well. My personal recommendation is the Kimchi Bokum - that is pork with Kimchi (fermented spicy seasoned chinese cabbage). Very spicy, but incredibly tasty :-).Will return here when I'm in Essen next time.Pretty full at our visit - Reservation strongly recommended!

Had a very good meal in CoCoLa tonight. Vietnamese rolls (ie not fried) followed by a warm prawn salad with noodles, beanshoots and vegetables in a sweet chilli sauce. Saigon beer to drink and a ginger tea to finish all for under â¬30.Highly recommended

It's a bit tucked away, but worth the trip, offering delicious food and friendly, polite service.People who have no German may struggle a little, but the staff try very hard to work around it and let's be honest, you're in Germany, make an effort!

You would probably not expect to find a really good sushi place in Germany in general, and in the Ruhrgebiet in particular, but give Sushihaus a chance. This is not a place for a cheap meal, but I think the prices are fair considering the high quality of the food. Everything we tried was fresh and well made.

I really like the restaurant's concept of selecting the food materials and then giving them to the chef to cook them with selecting the sauce.. its really nice and of course freshly cooked. The service however is not that great, the staff are talking to each other, ignoring the customers at times. But good food and nice experience in general

There are not many restaurants, that serve such a delicious food. Porcions are BIG, tofu is perfect, duck is soft and crispy at the same time. I don't know what spices they use, but I never tried such a good vietnamese cuisine. I recommend Mr.nam with all my hart and wish them well! My great esteem for the Chef!

Very good authentic food, cosy restaurant not far from our hotel. We ordered per person summer rolls for starter, a soup and a main course. The food came right away, also our main quickly after starters were finished. That's the only thing, don't go there for a full evening romantic dining, but for a good and quick Vietnamese meal it's the place to be.
