In a tiny little red building on a long pedestrian street in a sleepy fishing village, on the Portuguese Surf Coast, steps away from Fishermans beach, precariously sits, Pearl Oyster & Wine Bar. We live by the great Atlantic Ocean. Itâs raw untamed nature
The restaurant has a menu cashing in on the idea of a surf town, with dishes themed "thai" "Malaysian" and "Peruvian" the concept is there but the food was awful, peanut butter shrimp?! The portions are tiny and the prices are of a swanky new york bar. 15â¬-18⬠a dish you have to order seveal. The wine menu by the glass is not what they advertise, but only what bottle they have open. Our wine order was denied two times, and of the small 4 option wines by the glass only 1 was available that had been opened. This restaurant is taking advantage of the boom of tourism in Ericiera and is a shame. We are sure they will close soon at these prices and portions. Try the thai prawns or ceviche and tell me, im wrong!Dear Holbimarcas, thanks for trying out Pearl and sharing your feedback. We are sad to hear your experience didnât match your expectations. Weâre having trouble relating your comment to our menu though. Our most expensive dish is priced at 11,50â¬. As you can see on our website none of our dishes is between 15⬠to 18â¬. We do serve a Prawn Satay dish with a Malaysian peanut sauce which is in fact native to the Malaysian cuisine, it is not peanut butter though. In regards to the wine; the selection available by glass changes on a daily basis and does not entail the complete wine list that is available by bottle. We assume thatâs common practice in restaurants but weâre sorry if that wasnât explained to you in detail.Â

Tried this place once as an aternative to the excellent Hyaci at the other end of town. It's fair to say we won't be going there again. The staff wasn't very helpful and seemed out of place pretentious for a place like this.More importantly the food was unpleasant. You only got a limited option from the all you could eat menu and many things were charged separately.Almost all of the sushi we ordered came with a rich helping of mayonaise on top which we were later told was Philadelphia.Unsure about that but in any case it didn't belong on sushi and it was such an amount that it was not really possible to remove with tge sticks and everything became a mayonaisy mess. But not everything had mayonaise on top, some had sweet chili sauce on top. Also a first ...To be fair the advertising at the place doesn't say sushi, it says sush|, never imagined the difference would be that big.Strangely enough the place seemed really busy.If you like good regular sushi try the excellent Hyaci at the other side of town.
Best sushi in ericeria.
This restaurant is a little bit hidden from the main road. Itâs clean furnished not too cosy. The service friendly and attentive. The prices for lunch 10,90⬠and for dinner 14,90⬠all you can eat. For those prices you canât expect the most highend Sushiâs so what we got was good some with too much rice, but still tasty. A 1/2 liter wine for 4,50⬠and a pop for 1,70⬠itâs all fair. The high amount of choices of dishes makes you find easily a couple of favourite dishes. For lunch just perfect.

Exotic Meats: Kangaroo, Picanha, Frog legs, Crocodile, Black Pig, Cow, Cooked and baked snails, and many other snacks and specialties. Sea food, many qualities. Vegetarian: Sauteed mushrooms, vegetables in the wok
Interesting place with exotic options (zebra, frogs, kangaroo) on the menu. Meats were pretty good, but the french fries were nothing special and the veggies were too salty but otherwise tasteless. Interior design was all over the place with buddha statues, a sword, and pictures of Venice. The service was friendly but slow. Most other guests were drunk. Two stars.
If you have one evening in Ericeira, do not hesitate and go to this restaurant. The quality of the fish and the surprising combo in the menu took our breath away. Try their special sushi (not on the menu) you will not regret it!

We have eaten sushi all over the world including west coast US, Japan and the UK and this was without doubt some of the best sushi we have had. We had the tempura prawn and gyoza's to start which were perfectly cooked and then opted for the combi III (only suggest was they could have called it something a bit more romantic!) sushi platter. When it arrived it was beautifully presented with a range of nigiri, sushimi and other delights. The fish was ultra fresh and the flavours perfectly balanced. The staff were friendly and helpful and the ambience cosy.. together it topped off a perfect week away!
