Find out what Asian restaurants to try in Dunedin. Rare yellow-eyed penguins, fur seals and the world's only mainland albatross colony share residence in Dunedin, New Zealand's oldest city. When you're not watching wildlife, this South Island Otago Coast town also boasts impressive historic architecture from its days as a gold-rush mecca. Visit the 1906 Flemish Renaissance railway station or the country's largest center of higher learning, which resembles Glasgow University, thanks to the area's early Scottish settlers.

The service was alright but the food was horrible. My friend had the Malaysian curry which he thought was obviously microwaved. The seafood dishes smelled super fishy which is sign of old fish. I had the wonton soup which was absolutely bland. There was no flavor in the soup at all. The roast duck was tough and not easy to chew. One of my friends is mildly allergic to peanuts and had an allergic reaction the food. This place is the cheap because it serves the restaurant equivalent of dollar noddles. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.

Authentic Malaysian, Sri Lankan and multi cuisine. Serving quality and tasty meals for your appetite. Not just rice, curry or naans. See the menu for other delicious varieties of foods which you will never feel like missing it.
We came by to try their cheese rolls since they were supposed to be the worlds best. They were out. That didn't bode well so we just ordered and waited. The main dining area is underground, just go down the stairs from the street. There were quite a few tables available.I wasn't expecting much but when I had the laksa the flavours were perfect. The char kwei tiew also tasted just right. Not many places do this well but KL Aroma does. Although they didn't have the cheese rolls they do have really tasty Malaysian food.

Reluctantly I ate here being invited for a birthday dinner. Last time they had no tuna or avocado. One of the guest had visited recently and had said they had no avocado or tuna on his visit. So he asked if they had any only to be told they did not. He complained and funnily enough, tuna arrived. My meal arrived, no avocado no apologies, no explanation, no care. If the market price for avocado and tuna is too high, do not put it on the menu. Or at least compensate your diners for not putting everything on the meal that your menu claims. The squid rings were not terrible. A bit inconsistent in their cooking, but acceptable considering. When they brought our food out, they had no idea who ordered what and if they had even brought all our dishes out. They might have the latest fancy software for eating out, but it doesnât help them at all. Do not eat here.

Very good selection of authentic, Vietnamese dishes at very affordable prices. The meals are large, true to style and served appropriately. This is the only Vietnamese restaurant in Dunedin I am told and they do it very well.We cook Vietnamese food at home and we are critical of restaurants of this type if they are not true to style. Saigon Van cannot be faulted. They have a small but adequate wine list, with some by the glass.

We had a recommendation to check this restaurant out so off we trotted. Upon arrival we had a look at the menu and it looked good, the place was clean, staff friendly and quite busy. Then the food....it was just stunning. Fresh, tasty and diverse. All we both had was top notch but the Shanghai dumplings with Panang Curry Sauce was out of this world. I would go back just for these beauties. All in all a great experience and weâre certain to return.

We gathered here for Sunday night birthday celebrations for a dear friend on a very cold and wintery night. This Japanese restaurant was very busy with many people and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We could order a drink if so desired and water was bought to our tables. You could order a vegan or gluten free meal if so required. All our meals came out and everyone enjoyed them. A great night out was had by us.

Excellent friendly service as well. I have to say that it is the best Chinese food I have eaten in 20 years! Wish we lived closer would eat there all the time!
