Reviews on Asian food in Coburg, Bavaria, Germany. At the top of Bavaria and dating back to at least the 11th century, Coburg sat undiscovered by many late 20th century tourists, surrounded as it was on three sides by the former East Germany. The town’s main attraction, impossible to miss since it overlooks the town, is the 13th century Veste Coburg Castle, one of Germany’s largest and most beautiful. Sometimes called the Franconian Crown, today it’s home to three museums. Reformer Martin Luther, then an outlaw, spent five months here in 1530.

I've been here twice recently with various people. The main attraction is the huge buffet although you can order from the menu and they do take-always. The buffet is very varied and offers something for everyone, although vegetarians might be a bit limited. Unfortunately but I suppose inevitably the food in the buffet is not particularly hot. You can choose between various meats (including kangaroo which I think is unnecessary) and seafood and have it freshly prepared with the sauce of your choice. The service is ok, although the first time I was here we had a rather aggressive waiter who barked at us when we did not react fast enough. The place is huge, although it doesn't give that impression when you are sitting as it is partitioned up into different areas. The tables are very close to each other and together with the noise level when it is packed you can't really avoid the 'canteen' flair.I found it interesting that although there were no Christmas decorations at all, which is fair enough, they were using Christmas serviettes. On the whole it was ok but I probably won't be in a hurry to go back.
I've ordered lunch here a few times as a take away and have eaten in the restaurant once. The food is good and freshly made, my personal favourite is the crispy sweet and sour duck. I also personally prefer the take away to the restaurant. Service is fast and friendly but the restaurant has a cafeteria flair.
Good, freshly cooked food and friendly service. Menu and ambiance much like in Asia Inn in Coburg which is run by the same people.
Hello! Coburg seems to have it all now â especially, since this amazing Sushi Restaurant opened! The owner and sushi chefs made this restaurant very special and show the uncompromised and pure sushi making at its best. The SushiBar is nicely renovated with a freshened up, clean interior. The visual impression invites to have lunch or dinner in the small but beautiful arranged dining room on the upper floor. On the first floor is the small kitchen and sushi bar where usually two chefs prepare sushi very fresh. Here you can also wait for your take-out. There is no seating on the first floor/entrance. The interior is kept in darker colors with inviting, comfortable lighting. The sound level is pleasantly quiet with just a bit of music in the background. The restaurant offers sake, wine and beer and a small selection of soft drinks and rice tea. I like that the main focus of the restaurant is the food and nothing distracts the attention from it. One feels like eating in a somewhat peaceful sanctuary and eat in a pure and clean environment. Pictures below is the entrance area. You will find not too many fancy rolls which I loved. These chefs to not play around with too much seasoning and adding too much in addition. You will also enjoy classic japanese-style portions and be served pickled ginger and wasabi with your choice of sushi. You have the opportunity to order pre-set combinations or à la carte. If you order the pre-set combination, the chef chooses: however, as a sushi lover, you will not be disappointed. The sushi tastes very fresh and has rich flavor. I loved the texture of the chewy squid and of course the salmon and tuna sashimi. The sashimi felt like it is melting in my mouth. I closed my eyes several times as I ate, simply concentrating on this exquisite flavor sensations. I concentrated solely on the experience of eating. The MenuYou will find different choices of Nigiri, Maki and Ura Maki. Also, a variety of appetizers, salads (I highly recommend their seaweed salad with soy), soups (from the rational Miso-soup to Ramen!), Bento Box (just for lunch) and desserts. I did not try a dessert but they are kept pretty light. From rice cake to green-tea ice-cream â you will find the perfect choice to round up the meal. SushiBar also offers Take-out: Only Sushi and salads! The only items I missed were sea urchin and edamame. SushiBar is definitely a place I will visit again. Maybe the next time for lunch to try a Bento Box. The personnel is very friendly and make your stay at the restaurant special. The chef is able to transform simple ingredients into an extraordinary meal at this warm and friendly place. Credit Cards: All major credit cards accepted.Price Range: $ It is recommended to make reservations for dinner.SUSHI BARBadergasse 396450 CoburgTel: 09561.427399-8Open from Monday â Saturday, 11am-10pm. The kitchen is run by Thais, so we expected some authentic Thai cooking. The menu has a wide range of Thai dishes and Thai beer is also available too.We ordered the somtum papaya salad, seafood wunsen noodles, tom yum soup and chicken satay for appetizers. As for the main course, we ordered the massaman chicken curry, fried duck red curry, fried fish with sauce and basil chicken. With the limitations of the fresh Thai ingredients in Germany, the kitchen did very well in reproducing taste similar to the original ones in Thailand. The food was very flavoful and spicy too.Lastly, we had the fried banana as our dessert. It was excellent too.The service was very good overall too. We had an enjoyable meal and would come back again.

This is a small hole in a wall eatery, which is owned and operated by a Thai family. The eatery is very cosy and has a relaxing atmosphere. The menu offered many authentic Thai dishes. We ordered Thai salad, tom yum soup, chicken curry, basil chicken and stir fired vegetables. They used many fresh ingredients and spices in their cooking. The food was delicious and the service was very fast.

A little difficult to find if you are not familiar with the outskirts of Coburg. Ran by a Thai lady (who speaks German), you feel welcome from the very beginning. She does remember all her regular customers. It is a take out and sit in place. Though the place is tiny (majority is for take out), the small team is excellent. Inside has about 10 seats, while outside is a small garden. They have a nice selection of dishes, drinks of the fridge, deserts and appetizers as well. The food is superb, especially the spicy ones!Finding this place in lil Coburg is truly a nice add on!
