Reviews on Asian food in Chiayi, Taiwan. Chiayi, officially known as Chiayi City (Chinese: 嘉義市; pinyin: Jiāyì Shì; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Ka-gī-chhī) and sometimes as Chia-I, is a provincial city located in the plains of southwestern Taiwan. Formerly called Kagee during the late Qing dynasty and Kagi during the Japanese era (Chinese and Japanese: 嘉義), its historical name is Tirosen.
Things to do in Chiayi
Owner had made great food with Vietnamese style food. Personally prefer dry pho with soup. Clean environment with good food. Itâs location in Chia Yi is close to a famous local temple, worth to take a walk at night, you shall find itâs night scenery pretty. My parents live near by visit this restaurant so often, that even them feel good to chew and eat. As elders teeth may not bite very chewy beef, their food offer them good noodle.è¶åèå¾ç¨ç¹ï¼èéå¨å®¶éèçå³éå¾æ£ãå人åæ¡ä¹¾çæ²³ç²é ä¸é湯å¾å°å³ãé£å®¶è£¡å ©èé½åæ¡ä¾é裡ç¨é¤ï¼éè¿çå°èçå»å¤æ¯ä¹æ¯å¾å¼å¾å¤éè§è³ç好å»è

We went to a branch of this store which actually has a sign that says "Spraying Water Chicken Rice" in English on No. 289, Beigang Rd, West District, Chiayi City which looks much bigger and cleaner than the main store. This was our second time here and totally enjoyed the food. Yes, a bit greasy but flavorful. Parking lot right next to the restaurant and plenty of tables available when we were there in the evening. Service can be improved and prices a little on the expensive side taking into consideration of the small servings. It was OK though for the 'once-in-a-while' experience.

Decided to try out the food at this restaurant as it was recommended on a Taiwanese food show, and I must say the fried rice is pretty good. We ordered a Shrimp Fried Rice (è¦ä»ç飯) and a Beef Fried Noodles (çèç麵) and they costed about 80NTD each I believe. I would say the fried rice was better and would also recommending trying out the other fried rice dishes that they have. The restaurant is just a stoneâs throw away from the Chiayi TRA train station (not the HSR station). Definitely worth a try!

This place was not too dissimilar to other restaurants in the area, sure it might have some history but the food was just so-so and the environment not to an international standard. Interestingly, they do not serve drinks here, you would have to bring your own.

Kuo's rice with chicken slices is the eatery with the longest queque. If you're a foreigner new to Taiwan's food, you have to give it a try - steamy rice with redolent sauced chicken slices, stick rice rolls and pig-blood soup...(drooling). Be patient with the lone line, though. It's worth the wait. A eatery hard to miss and easy to please the mouth.

We reached the restaurant after 8pm, the restaurant was still crowded through it was over the peak period for dinner. The restaurant is situated next to the Chiayi Night Market. The staff was extremely friendly and efficient, one of the waiter quickly arranged for a room to seat 14 of us then recommended and helped us to order our dishes. We have to pay at the cashier counter in front of the shop before the food been served; the cashier was friendly and helpful too, and she even joked with us.The stewed clay pot fish head was delicious and we ended up ordered another two pots. The turkey rice and other side dishes are good too. The place is clean. The service was fast and efficient, even for the additional orders. Price was reasonable too, definitely value for money.
