Had a takeaway from the new Asian takeaway here. It was ready quickly but really disappointing. The chili chicken starter was straight from the local supplier, Scallans. We can have it anytime. It was just deep fried chicken strips bought in. The mains were very small. We had Prawn Singapore Noodles - hardly any veg at all except lots of onion. Chicken fried rice was lukewarm, with lumps of congealed rice and way too many peas. Sweet and sour beef came in the same container as a small portion of overdone rice. Beef was really tough. It came in cardboard cartons and even though we ate it within two minutes of collection, it was not hot enough.

My OH loves Chinese food and has experienced lots of restaurants in his working travels. He thought this was the best he has ever tasted. We had an old favourite of both his and mine - chicken chow mein and Yung chow fried rice. We even manager a little pudding. I do like banana fritters and he had banoffee cheesecake. Definitely worth a visit. It is a little expensive, but Chinese meals tend to be and Ireland isn't particularly cheap. We didn't see much of Wexford, only walking up the main Street and back, fleeting visit before catching the ferry early the next day, but it seemed a pretty little town.

Located in Irishtown, New Ross, The Holy Grail Restaurant offers World Cuisines specializing in Indian, Asian and European dishes. Gluten free options, Dairy free options & vegetarian friendly.
I had a lamb madras, it was tasty enough, but there was this niggling feeling i was eating a Hungarian goulash, that particular type of creamy consistency and flavour, it had its merits and certainly better than many other Indian restaurants, not madras hot either. Now I really know my curries so I may be being a bit fussy, apparently the chef is in fact from Pakistan, but did he live in Germany or middle Europe for a while? I asked and they said no.Dear 468henryt,Thank you for reviewing our food and i would like to take this opportunity to clear some of your thoughts.Firstly, our chefs are NOT from Pakistan which you state it as a fact; in-fact they are from South India from which Madras dishes originate. Both our chefs were trained & worked in the renowned Five star hotel- The Taj Group of hotels for 10 years. The chefs haven't lived anywhere else in Europe other than Ireland. The Madras dishes cooked in our restaurant are exactly how we cook at home- finished in coconut milk with roasted spices and hint of acidity (either lemon juice or tamarind) and medium spiced . there is this notion that all madras dishes are exceptionally hot with a lot of chillies and paprika and we beg to differ! Unless requested by the customer, all our dishes are medium spiced to allow the flavors to work through rather than the overpowering spice.we are glad that you enjoyed the dish nevertheless.kind regardsParvathi & Shijo

There is a great set menu deal here. Midweek 14.95 for main course & starter.Weekend 18.95 for main course, starter & a drink (wine, beer or soft drink)There are very few exceptions on the deal. Duck, prawns etc are all included. The food is great & it would be a shame to single out any particular dish.Staff are particularly helpful & friendly. The decor is fairly typical of Asian restaurants generally.Location is within walking distance of town & beside Amber Springs Hotel. However, it is located in a car park which doesn't add much atmosphere.Overall though, this is a great place to eat & I hope to be back often.

We ate here one evening while visiting Wexford. The restaurant is situated in a lovely room, the food was tasty (if a little salty) but it was way overpriced. I've eaten better quality Thai food for half the price and cannot see how they can justify the price. The staff are lovely though.

While in Wexford we were wandering around trying to decide where to eat when we spotted the Red Elephant. What a great find- absolutely delicious food served here. We shared a big bowl of very spicy chicken wings then had chicken and cashew nuts and pad se- lew for mains. Both dishes were amazing- so tasty and delicious. Hubby had two pints of Heineken and I had two glasses- the bill for it all came to 47â¬. Great value. Our waitress was lovely, she had the most beautiful smile and was so friendly and helpful. I would recommend this establishment and will return to Wexford just to visit here again.
