My partner really wasn't keen to go here partly 'cos of the look of the place from outside. But don't let that put you off. Place is clean and bright , staff polite and helpful. My partner had calamari egg fried rice as main and stated it was wonderful , the best in years. This sounds silly but the real stand out item was the egg fried rice it was fab , cooked to perfection and fluffy and tasty the best rice I've eaten. I would happily recommend this place . I do have one niggle and that is there is no separate smoking area , non smokers have to put up with other dinners smoking at the next table after they finish their meal. Thankfully it was quiet and we were able to move away from smokers to eat.

We visited the Green Mamba restaurant for Valentine's day and yet again had a lovely experience.the booth's where you can sit are very romantic, you choose the food and watch it being cooked in front of you. Make sure that you are very hungry when you go or leave plenty of time for your meal otherwise you will probably miss out on one of the visits to the kitchen that you allowed. Set meal consists of starters, 3 visits to the Kitchen for your main meals then a dessert. Enjoy a cocktail at the bar before your meal as part of the experience.Definitely one of the most pleasurable dining experiences that we have encountered while holidaying in the Gambia.

Here you will find African, Chinese and Indian food, however we were in Gambia so we took Gambian traditional dishes. Both our Domoda and Yassa dishes were good, (from here, Domoda became my favorite Gambian dish) the waiters were very kind and patient (we came here very late, sorry guys!) and they helped us to choose these dishes. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and was located very close to our hotel, and it is not too expensive.

We first visited this restaurant way back in February, 2012 when it was then known as VJ's. Prior to our second visit in 2013 the restaurant was refurbished and extended and re-named Tandoor. We have been patrons ever since.Reviewing restaurants in Gambia is not straight-forward by any means. You can dine out one night and the food and service deservedly warrants an excellent review. You can return to the same restaurant the very next day, order exactly the same meal, only to find it disappointing and the service so slow it spoils the dining experience. The Tandoor is the one exception. My wife and I have been to Kotu seven times now in the past eight years. The food and service at Tandoor has ALWAYS been excellent. The Julbrew is cheap at 65 dalassi and you are served with a complimentary poppadom and pickles. The food is relatively inexpensive and more importantly the dishes are consistent, not the norm in The Gambia I can assure you!I see that once again Tandoor is ranked as the number 1 restaurant in Kotu on TripAdvisor. Personally I wouldn't argue with that. Highly recommended!

The Clay Oven has been open for 24 years, established in 1991 by Vimal Shah. The restaurant has two menu's, a well established Indian menu and a recently well tried Chinese menu. The Clay Oven takes pride in quality and excellence. There is a large dining
Once again, we dined at the Clay Oven on sizzler night (Tuesday) and it was, as always in our opinion, delicious. We were staying at Kololi but we always think it is well worth a taxi trip to eat here, negotiate a good price for your taxi before setting off and pay on your return. The Clay Oven is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The owner is always there overseeing what is going on and ensures your dining experience is perfect. On sizzler night, all your food is brought freshly cooked to your table, donât fill up too much on the starters as the mains come in big portions and keep coming freshly cooked on a hot sizzling plater. For starters you are brought a selection of bhajis and pakoras, they appear different to what you are used to and are different to the A la Carte ones but they are very tasty. For your mains you are served with chicken, lamb, prawns, fish and vegetarian, we personally donât like lamb and arenât bothered about vegetarian so just ask for anything you donât want not to be served. As you finish the mains, the owner comes and asks what else you would like bringing. The chicken, prawns and fish are absolutely delicious. You also get a hot sauce, a buttery sauce, naan bread and rice.We would highly recommend this restaurant for excellent food, service and itâs beautiful setting. We have also visited this restaurant and ordered off the a la carte menu and all dishes were excellent, you can order from the a la carte menu on sizzler night too if you so wish.
