Visited Tuesday night and were alone but plenty of atmosphere with the lovely manager who was happy to chat. Great food sizzling in the kitchen with freshly rolled nan breads and one of my favourite korma's. The only criticism being picky was the small and supposedly lesser amount of rice sitting in than if taking away. More locals need to visit this gem!
We visited the restaurant on a Thursday evening. It was not too busy (we were the first table in) but it was steady after this. We were very welcomed when we arrived at the restaurant. The service throughout the meal was excellent. The menus had a good amount of choices and the food was delicious. As the curries were served on hot plates with the rice separate, we are thinking of ordering different dishes to share (buffet style!) next time. We ordered the mixed platter starter (recommended for 2) and had an extra satay chicken too. This was more than enough for three sharing, and was delicious! The curries and rice were all very fresh tasting and full of flavour. The complimentary prawn crackers were a lovely touch too! The restaueanr were also very accommodating with us having baby in our party. We look forward to our return to Royal Thai, and I would highly recommend this Arbroath restaurant!

It's hard to get overly enthusiastic about a buffet restaurant but I've been here half a dozen times now and never had anything other than an excellent experience. I've tended to stick to the starters and Indian food and the selection of dishes has always had something new each time. Unusually for a buffet, there's usually a dish on the very-hot scale which is great if you like hot dishes. Additionally, all the meat dishes have chunky pieces of meat in the curry rather than having to play the hunt-the-meat game that you get in some other restaurantsAnyhow, if you don't like buffet restaurants then this one isn't likely to convert you to the cause but I've been in lots of them over the years and never had any inclination to review one of them in a positive way since I expect them all to be a bit meh. This is an excellent one.
