10 Things to Do in Alhaurin el Grande That You Shouldn't Miss

Working our way through the cheaper menu, which is excellent value for money. We haven't been disappointed yet!!! Cheerful staff, who are always amused by our attempts at Spanish, but their English is good so we get by. There's another Chinese restaurant not too far away, but we prefer this one.

Alhaurin el Grande does not seem like the likeliest of places to find good Chinese food at first. The kebab and pizza places in the small town are below average, and the Indian restaurant only does a little better. However, my girlfriend and I completely did not expect the experience here to be as good as it was. The menu prices outside were good; way cheaper than Chinese food in the UK and also more affordable than some of the ones down on the coast. We were seated in the half-full restaurant, which seemed to be a lot bigger inside than warranted by the number of customers on a Friday night, and settled down to look at the menu. The selection is limited, and there isn't a great deal of variation from the usual Chinese takeout dishes in the UK. We settled on a portion of spring rolls to start, black bean sauce beef for me, and pineapple chicken for my girlfriend with a chow mein to share. We were brought the customary bowl of prawn crackers with our beers, and actually they were really tasty crackers; tasting and feeling freshly made. We noticed a plate of spring rolls sitting on the counter for a while, and began wondering if they were ours. They turned out to be; it was a bit off putting seeing them sitting on the counter for so long, but this was the only problem we had in the evening. They were tasty spring rolls, and the main courses arrived as we were finishing them. My black bean sauce was served on a metal hotplate usually reserved for sizzling dishes, which struck me as a bit weird, but kept the dish hot well as we waited for the noodles to come a bit later. The taste was great: full of flavour with nothing being too overpowering, as sometimes black bean sauce is. Good quality beef, with very little fat or chewiness on the meat. My girlfriend enjoyed her pineapple chicken, and when she couldn't finish it they happily boxed up the rest for us. The older Chinese lady who served us was friendly throughout the experience, despite speaking only a little bit of English. The cost for the whole meal was under â¬20 - which we thought more than worth it. It's worth going to Alhaurin el Grande to eat here if you're in the Malaga/Fuengirola area and want some good Chinese food.

Came here with a family group on a Friday evening, hadn't booked but got lucky as we were earlier than the typical local eating time, would recommend booking on a Friday or Saturday night. Really good attentive service that was also friendly. The food was really great, portion sizes are on the large size (rice etc) but excellent value for money and all cooked well with great flavours. All 6 of us were more than happy with our dishes. Overall a great time and excellent food!
