It's been years now that this has been my go-to Thai restaurant. Never disappoints- always fresh, attractive food served by wonderful staff. Love that one of my favorite staff members is now back in the kitchen cooking... And can she ever! Made to order- just the right amount of heat... and the Pineapple Fried Rice... that's the one you can't miss.

Went for lunch on the spur of the moment. We were surprised that it is not a fast food restaurant and they even have cloth napkins. I had one of the bento box type lunch specials with spicy grilled chicken and it was a huge amount of food and really tasty. I took home a large amount of leftovers. My companion had the short rib soup with was messy and hard to eat without a knife and fork but very tasty as well.

Rule #1: Know how to pronounce PHO!Phá» or pho[1] (pronounced variously as /ËfÉËr/, /ËfÊ/, or /ËfoÊ/;[2] Vietnamese: [fÉË˧˩˧]**FUH**Rule #2: When going to a Pho Restaurant, Order PHO !Iâve only eaten Pho in 4 different restaurants, but this one ranks at the very top for several reasons. One reason was the service we received. Our waitress was not only efficient, but she was delightful. The place was clean and fresh. And mainly, because the Pho was quite tasty. My daughter ordered the chicken pho and I ordered the filet mignon pho. Even though there werenât many pieces of filet in mine, it still tasted great. This was her first time to eat Pho, and there wasnât a drop left in her bowl. Unfortunately, they were out of the bottled beers we ordered, and since all the drafts were IPA which neither of us like, we ordered red zin. It went fairly well with our soups. We also ordered the Thai Tea. It was, of course, very sweet so we considered it our dessert. We would certainly go back.

Little Shin Shin on Piedmont Avenue routinely gets "Best of the East Bay" awards but, strictly from the point of view of food quality, I think that The Ark is far superior.First of all they make their hand-pulled noodles on the premises. It is great to watch if you are lucky enough to catch it but even of you don't see them made, the noodles are incredible -- very tender. The same can be said of their dumplings -- incredibly tender dough with a wonderfully flavored filling. The chow mien and chow fun dishes are also fantastic. The place is small, somewhat noisy, and parking can be tricky but it is definitely worth it.

They have the best crispy duck dish here! I order it every time. They also always provide pretty quick service, but they get really busy during dinner hours, so come early , especially if you are party of 4 or more. I love their coconut soup as well, and they have a killer pad thai!

I'll start by noting that I work and manage two top rated hotels in Oakland, I have been to this establishment many times and have graciously recommended it to our hotel clientele because the food is superb and the service is generally impressive. However, as a hospitality savant I was disappointed by this restaurant today. The establishment's reservation policies are absurd and not beneficial for their customers. Particularly when you are making a reservation for a group of 6 plus. The issue was that you can only make reservations for the patio which is fine but if it rains your reservation can be annulled without prior notice and their management will not move your table indoors. This is not acceptable and the public should be aware of this practice. I intended to reserve a table for 6 people to celebrate a special occasion with my loved ones and the gentleman I spoke with was carelessly unwilling to work with me to bring the business of a group on a typically slow day for the restaurant industry. I kindly mentioned it was a special occasion and that I graciously forward business to them because the restaurant deserves the recognition and the business. Unfortunately, the poorly trained individual was indifferent and became curt, sarcastically advised I could reserve at my own risk and did not offer to at least add me to a waitlist for this evening. In closing, I intend for the restaurant's executive management to read my review in effort to elucidate them on the importance of customer service which was lacking in this scenario. Regretfully, this unfortunate predicament will cost the restaurant my business moving forward. I would hope that the restaurants' leadership will consider reaching out to make amends with one displeased customer as opposed to losing business by word of mouth from a powerful vehicle such as a top rated hotel in the area that gladly forwards business in the spirit of hospitality and support. I love Yoshi's for their food, service, ambience, venue, what's not to like? Everything was perfect except for 2 things but I'll go into detail after I sing their praises. We came here to see Pride and Joy, a local group celebrating their 37th Anniversary and we have followed them over the years. And what a great intimate opportunity to see them! I made reservations by phone and indicated that we would be celebrating a birthday. We came with 2 other couples who bought Yoshi's gift cards at Costco in advance as you pay $80 for $100 gift cards. Then Before we bought tickets for the show, I saw the general admission tickets on Gold Star for half the price on Ticketfly so I bought 6 tickets! When we arrived it was a few minutes before we were seated but once seated, our server, Michael was very attentive and since he knew it was a birthday celebration as well as us attending the concert inside the showroom, he kept checking with the manager to find out when we would be getting our seat assignments. If you eat in the restaurant, they reserve the seats inside the showroom for your dinner party. Dinner was delish, we had the edamame (complimentary with Yelp check-in), beet salad, spinach salad, black cod, pork chop, and seabass. The only dish that was off was the Brussel sprouts as it was way too sour for our taste. Then we had dessert of sorbet duo, Caf brownie and trio of gelato! Michael remembered to light a candle on the brownie to wish our friend a Happy Birthday! The only other con was that once we finished our dessert and lined up for the show, there was a really long line and we all waited for at least 15 minutes past the showtime to be allowed inside the venue. I believe the reason for the delay was that Yoshi's scheduled another musician to perform at 6:30 pm and after that show, they had to clean up the theatre and let Pride and Joy set up the stage for their show.

East Ocean Seafood Restaurant open its doors 35 years ago on Webster St in Oakland, then moved to the present location in Alameda, also on Webster Street 24 years ago. Here you will find hand made dim sum made by seasoned dimsum masters every morning. In
In the greater Oakland area and surrounding suburbs/communities, this is the place to go for dim sum. The staff is friendly and helpful if you have questions. The har gow and sui mai are everything you would expect...very good flavor. The deep fried taro dumplings are also a favorite and very good. Baked BBQ pork buns are OK. I have had better in the China Towns on both sides of the Bay. Egg tarts are much better in the local bakeries. Shrimp-chive dumplings; black sesame mochi; and shrimp rice noodles are good. The seafood bean curd was just OK.We have visited this place many times over the past decades; but only when we visit family in the area. We have eaten many of the dim sum offerings over the years. This place has a small parking lot behind the restaurant; but street parking is available. We visited mid-week before the main lunch hour and luckily found street parking at the front door. Mid-week, sadly we missed the "carts" where you can get your dim sum choices as the carts 'float' by. We ordered from a menu and the dim sum was delivered via cart. In reality, there was one cart that roamed among the diners; but the selections were extremely limited though they did periodically change what was on the cart. Advantages of mid-week visit are less competition for parking and less ambient noise in the restaurant because there are fewer diners. However, by the time we were finished, many customers had entered for "lunch". It was plenty noisy then. By the way, forks are available should you desire.I expect we will continue to visit this restaurant in the coming years.

The tea leaf salad is a must-try. Interesting choice of drinks and overall excellent food. Somewhat pricey.
