I've eaten in a lot of hotel restaurants, and almost all of them are pretty bad.Not so Restaurante Calas. This is a hotel restaurant that I would visit EVEN IF I WEREN'T STAYING AT THE HOTEL!My wife and I were, in fact, staying in the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel, and so eating at the restaurant was a convenient choice. We weren't expecting much ... and so were very pleasantly surprised by both the first-rate food and the outstanding service. Everything we ordered came out very quickly (which can sometimes be a warning sign of reheated food, but in this case was not). The dishes we tried were excellent interpretations of regional favorites. Everything was prepared with attention to detail from fresh, well-chosen ingredients. I would even go so far as to say that the food was prepared with love -- it is obvious that the chefs really care about what they do. And the waitstaff provided the kind of service that you would expect to see in the very finest restaurants. (Having just been disappointed by the service at a so-called fine-dining establishment, I can say that I WISH that all waiters were as a professional as the ones at Restaurante Calas.)My only minor complaint is that the wine menu is a bit predictable and a bit limited in scope. There are some really surprising and interesting wines in the Jujuy region, but I didn't see them represented on the carta de vinos. All in all: An excellent experience!

I invited my sister who lives in Jujuy to dinner at Lola M. Nice restaurant and the food was very good. The service was good but a little impersonal. Prices adequate, we enjoyed the main dishes (trout/lomo de llama) but were dissapointed with the sides, quinoa/ risotto, rather bland. try the cassata for dessert. Nice touch to be offered a glass of champagne on the house on arrival. A pleasant visit.

Great place ... One if our favorites in 3 weeks in Argentina ... This is the place for meat eaters ... The asado comes in courses ... First course meat ... Second course meat ... Third course meat ... Fourth course ... You guessed it meat ... ! All perfectly grilled and served ... Amazing salad bar ... Trout and grilled breast of chicken for non meat eaters if such a thing exists in Argentinlandia! Located in the center of town near the Central Plaza. Come late, this place doesnt even get started till 10pm.

The pizza was really yummy, especially the crust, but it did get a bit soggy for my taste. Get there a bit early to get a seat because it gets packed - even on a Thursday! The empanadas (we had ours fried) are made with delicious dough. Yum!

Good place, good atention with friendly owners and waiters. The place is normal decorated, nothing fancy. They have an extensive menu with a lot of regional dishes. The wine menu is alright. Unfortunately, we did not pick the right dishes (not because they were not well elaborated), we just did not like it that much. I guess that we have a basic taste and we are not that up to try new choices, since we ordered some regional plates. Despite of this, I recommend this restaurant without a doubt.

After 10 days in Argentina we had the best dinner so far in this colorful place. Guajira Resto Bar is indeed a restaurant and bar with several connected rooms, some large and some smaller, with tables placed allowing you to enjoy your own space. There is a Mexican twang to the place and indeed it does serve fantastic tacos with various toppings (we had the pollo and the carne) including a vegetarian option. There are four main salads to choose from, the Guajira with chicken was outstanding - mildly sweetened, with avocado and chicken roasted with sesame. We chose a good red wine, the Don David Reserva, 2017. A family at the table next to us ordered pizzas - they looked very good! Although we don't speak a word Espanol we were treated friendly and with patience. We left the place promising ourselves to be back in a few days.

This restaurant has a nice atmosphere and an excellent service. The food variety will please whoever comes to this place and the best of all: it accepts credit cards (almost o restaurants in town accept).

went to this wonderful restaurant the last night of our stay in Jujuy and much preferred it to viracocha..this should be no.1! Christian our waiter was totally fantastic, and such good fun. (Despite us not speaking Spanish and him not speaking English!) the tamale was the best we have ever tried and the trout was delicious. The meal was great value and so was the wine. The aubergine dip and spicy tomato sauce was to die for too! We kept asking for more and more. Couldn't recommend this place more, lovely staff, delicious food and great ambience!
