We decided to go with a large group of friends (all of them Punta del Este residents), to try out this newly opened restaurant. We booked one day in advance a large table at 20:00, and most of us were there on time........much to our surprise, they started preparing the fire for the barbecue.......at 20:10..... No need to tell you that we ended up having the first piece of cooked meat at 21:15 !!! No planning, no preparation. To add insult to injury, we ordered three mixed appetizers to share while we waited for the main course. 40 minutes after we placed the order they realized that they had never told the cook about it. We ended up canceling it !! Folks, I think we can understand that mistakes are made, and particularly on a recently opened restaurant. What is inadmissible is that aside from a reluctant apology for the mix-up and the monstrous delay, there was no effort from the owner to redress the matter. She could have offered a free bottle of wine, or a couple of free meals on our next visit, or just a small token of appreciation to have us eventually return to the restaurant. Nothing, zilch. They don't´t have the foggiest idea of what is customer service. The result is that they now have 16 of us which will never return, and, even worse, we will be sure to spread the word. It's a pity because the place is nice, and the food is not too bad.Thank you for your review however you have reviewed us twice - once in Spanish and once in English - as this is not allowed on TripAdviser, I have asked TripAdvisor to take one of these down as it brings down our review ratings. Furthermore, I did try to approach your table (I being the owner of Nuestra Mesa) - I went with the waiter to try to resolve the fact that he did not enter your appetizer into the system. I was waved off without being given a chance to speak and told very clearly to forget it and bring your main course. This is what I instructed my staff to do. Sometimes there is no way to heal a problem if the client is not willing to allow you to do so. The waiter was on trial and did not make it to the Nuestra Mesa team and I am sorry to say that as much as I appreciate your comments you are clearly overstating what happened in a very unfair way. I hope our clients read this review and understand that every customer is important to Nuestra Mesa and this exeprience is definitely one that never happens at Nuestra Mesa.

In the heart of the old Pocitos neighborhood, reinventing itself in a classic corner of gastronomic proposals, Carbonada offers the right atmosphere for a cozy and unusual experience. It emphasizes a dedicated and warm service, together with a local propo
This is the second time I've been served a feedlot (i.e. grain fed) entrecote steak in Montevideo. A worrying sign, given how spectacular the grass-fed steaks are. More worrying is that the restaurant does not declare it on the menu. How to spot one? Take a look at the attached photo. Feedlot steaks usually look great. They are uniform. Grass-fed entrecote are irregular. The proof is in the texture and taste. Feedlot steaks are chewy and don't have the same delicious taste of grass-fed beef. In fact they are tasteless - the main reason why abroad you usually are served steak with a sauce that disguises the (lack of) flavour. The fat in them is also not easily digested so there's also the tell-tale feeling of the steak lying heavy in the stomach for hours after the meal, something which you don't get if the steak is from a grass-fed cow. Sitting here now, enjoying tje dessert, an apple pancake that is fabulous, knowibg that I'm going to have that heavy sensation all afternoon.A shame, because the place is great and my waiter wad ver friendly. That steak, though, means I can't give this place more than one star.

Anté is one of the managers here, speaks fluent English and was so welcoming we could not resist coming for lunch. The chevitos are great. I had the salmon one and my friend the meat one. The lemonade is excellent too. The best chevitos in la barra with a wonderful beach vibe. Must go here for lunch while you stroll along. Ask for Anté!

I ordered two caprese empanadas and a carbonated water. The empanadas were large and warm to the touch. This was a good start. I bite into the first of the two empanadas and encountered a great deal of cheese (too much in my opinion). The further along in eating the large empanada the less warm and pleasant is the experience. I think much less cheese would have been a plus along with thoroughly warm empanada inside as well as outside. Exceptional value though. I will give Las Cibeles another try.

We had been recommended this restaurant so our expectations were rather high, but even so it surprised us with its excellences.Everything was great - the service, the ambiance, the interior design etc.The food was cooked to perfection and the dishes really elevated all its ingredients. The wine list was also great and the staff were able to give some insightful help in choosing wine.Iâm very restricted when it comes to give spaces a 5 star review, but in this case there are no other options then 5 stars.

Restaurant specializing in traditional Uruguayan kitchen and grill
After our cruise excursion our tour guide brought us this restaurant for lunch. We started the cruise from Buenos Aires and we stayed 3 days there before the cruise and had some steaks in Argentina. The steaks I had in Garcia was better than the ones I had in Argentina. They are really good. The service was great as well. Highly recommended.

Place is very small, only 5 tables so better to book if possible. They offer some cocktails from which we tried two (mojito and gin citric) and they were nicely made. Then we had empanaditas de osobuco and a small pizza as starters; both of them nice although the empanaditas really rocked. They were really good.Pizza's dough was neutral, pre-cooked and standard;toppings were nice. For the main dishes we went for the "lasagna de carne" and "moussaka de cordero". Great options, felt like grandma's cuisine. The only down-side to the experience was their wine menu, which is terribly short and options are not the best. Their fanciest bottle goes for 460 pesos and its a pinot noir. Overall, we had a great dinner, the service was truly good and attentive. Will surely come back.

Wanted something light in the late afternoon, and this place fit the bill. Close to the Sheraton where we were staying. Had the dual of chirizo and the sweat morcilla (a kind of blood sausage. Both were very good and you would never have guessed that morcilla is a blood sausage (the sweet form has orange rinds, cinnamon, and other interesting ingredients). Service was great. Will be back this trip for sure!
