Find out what American restaurants to try in Wheeling. Wheeling is a city in Ohio and Marshall counties in the U.S. state of West Virginia. Located almost entirely in Ohio County, of which it is the county seat, it lies along the Ohio River in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Wheeling was originally a settlement in the British colony of Virginia and later an important city in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Wheeling was the first state capital of West Virginia. Due to its location along major transportation routes, including the Ohio River, National Road, and the B&O Railroad, Wheeling became a manufacturing center in the late nineteenth century. After experiencing the closing of factories and substantial population loss following World War II, Wheeling's major industries now include healthcare, education, law and legal services, entertainment and tourism, and energy.

Wheeling Brewing Company is a micro-brewpub located in Wheeling's historic Centre Market district in downtown Wheeling, WV.
The food and most of the beer sampled were good, one we finally got them. It was a busy Friday night but sitting at the bar I would have thought we would be hard not to see. Staff looked at us but decided washing a few items and placing them in bins was more important than getting our order. A couple next to us questioned about some of the beers and nary a sample was offered, the look on their face when tasting said it all a small sample would have been better for choosing what they hoped for.

The Ohio Valley's Original Sports Bar Restaurant. Full service. Steaks, Ribs, Wings, Pasta, Chicken, Seafood. A great place to watch all sports. The ONLY 28' Video Wall in the area. TV's at the booths and all around the restaurant. Pool tables, game area
Here for dinner on a Sunday night. Nice sports bar atmosphere, we watched the NBA finals game. Menu and prices are typical for this type of establishment. Food was quickly ordered and served. One note though, I ordered a beef dip sandwich which comes with a beef "au jus". This "au jus" is typically straight beef broth or bouillon. Theirs reeked and tasted very much of soy sauce, most unusual and debatable at best. Server was obviously having a bad night, with a very unenthusiastic attitude shall we say.

The Vagabond has become one of favorites here in Wheeling! Chef Matt and his team have put together a great combination of food, drink and atmosphere. Tonight was a great example the food was excellent, service was top notch and being that it was first Friday we were treated to the music of Gallowglass!

They were recommended by the people at the welcome center on west side of I-70. Not a fancy place, just a local great place. Very reasonably priced entrees and and sandwiches. We had the special, a hand cut 8oz rib steak dinner with two sides. It was thin but had a great flavor and was cooked perfect. The raspberry vinegarette was delicious and they serve a large amount of different beers including one from right there in Wheeling. Very pleasant dinnerThanks for the kind words. Next time through Wheeling on I-70, you will not have to ask where to go..LOL.

When staying at Oglebay I have always enjoyed the big Mountaineer Breakfast Buffet offered at the Ihlenfeld Dining Room. This time was no exception! I stayed with my friends for two nights and was pleasantly surprised about the change of dishes on the second day. There were items that I had never seen as part of a breakfast buffet - like Eggs Benedict, Blintzes and various Fritatas.I thought that the bacon could habe been crisper, but otherwise everything was close to perfect - including the coffee. We sat by the window on both mornings which made it a bit harder to get to the buffet, but the view of Schenk Lake was amazing. It doesn't get better than that!

read reviews about great fish sandwich, not so much. bland even with "extra' tarter sauce. . Ordered mine on a bun, and not the white bread that it is usually how it's served.. BE AWARE that you will only get 50 minutes for your HOUR on the parking meters. You will get a citation!!!

Ye Olde Alpha is a Wheeling restaurant institution, and celebrates its 85th year in 2017. We pride ourselves on fresh, quality food with impeccable service
My "local" husband wanted a trip down memory lane, so we went to Ye Olde Alpha. The decor is tired, the food is uninspired, drinks are boring & the service was very basic. However, the place was quite crowded on a Thursday night....though I'm certainly not sure why!Thank you for coming to dine with us and we apologize that your experience was not a favorable one. The Alpha is celebrating its 87th year so while we think we are doing some things right, we are not perfect. We appreciate you taking the time to review us regardless. If we can help in any other way, please contact us through our website

A must visit while in Wheeling or Center Market! Iâve never had a bad experience here... only long waits sometimes but thatâs due to its popularity! Fish sandwiches are the best...and the seasoned fries are delish!

Normally a New Englander, but came into Wheeling to visit family and we went here for lunch. It's small, clean, casual and unassuming. At home, something like this would probably be a chic overpriced hipster thing. Here there's no airs being put on, which is really refreshing. Food was excellent. Honestly I had expected "OK". The waitstaff was very pleasant (although I've been to Wheeling many times and never had bad or unfriendly service, nice people there). Really good beer list (like quality stuff, not Bud). Summary: This place is worth going to, not just "good for a small town", and certainly worth driving a mile off I-70 to get to.
