We eat here fairly often, mostly breakfast, and that's what we had this morning with our youngest grandson. He had never been here, so we decided to broaden his horizon. The food, as always, was good, but the service was a little off today. I had to ask for a coffee refill twice before I got one, not a usual occurrence. There is always plenty of food, and we took home a small box this time too.

Chain of Lakes is a bar( that's not what I would call clean) that serves typically bar food. I wouldn't rate their food as anything but typically or ordinary. It's the typical "Sysco" food service sort of stuff. The table and chairs we were sitting in in their outdoor seating area could've used a nice cleaning. However, the wait staff was nice. Still, there wasn't anything here that would entice me to recommend this bar/restaurant to others. My wife ordered a burger. I've seen better burgers lots of places. My shrimp dinner was ordinary. If you're seeking an bar that's a bit dumpy that serves ordinary food this is your place.

My family and I stumbled upon this place and couldnât have been more impressed. The staff was extremely friendly, the menu was very tantalizing, and the food was excellent! I definitely appreciate the locally/WI sourced ingredients as well! The decor was very welcoming and relevant and as a whole the restaurant was very clean; you canât beat the little patio out back either! Weâll definitely be back and maybe even make it a destination!

What a pleasure! The environment is lovely: relaxing, elegant, charming, intimate. The creative offerings combine healthy tasty choices, always from scratch, using the best of local ingredients, as well as artistically presented. Michael & Barbara are an unbeatable combination! Michael, the skilled & talented chef, creatively puts together combinations of herbs and spices to always tweak the tastebuds. Barbara, with her baking knack, continues to tempt with the luscious chocolate and creamy desserts. When we are in town with friends, we always come here Friday AND Saturday nights! You can't ever get tired of it, because this clever duo always have something new up their sleeve! I know they call this the secret garden, but word it out! What a joy to be met each year with our special friends. We are a group of 4 couples, and we have stopped going to dinner anywhere else because this is THE PLACE! We live in Waupaca and whenever we want to celebrate something...we go to Simpsons! Admittedly there are not a lot of "upper scale" restaurant's in our town but we could drive to Appleton or Stevens Point and we stay here instead.The Tuna is just excellent. Cooked to perfection every time and its my favorite dish there. My husband loves the prime rib. It cuts like butter and has wonderful flavor. It has a bit of a supper club feel to it and the inside could use some updating but all in all its always a nice dining experinece and the service is always excellent.

We had lunch outside on the patio which has a beautiful view of the water. We each had burgers which were very good. They have a good selection of beer and summer cocktails. On the way out we had ice cream which was very good also.We will definitely be stopping back.

The restaurant is located in a mall right along Waupacaâs main thoroughfare. This place is family oriented, specializes in breakfasts, and a host of other Entreeâs. I just cannot make enough positive remarks about their outstanding food and service. I ordered their sea food platter and it ended up being two platters filled with applesauce, a huge scrumptious baked potato, green beans, delectable dinner roll, broiled jumbo gulf shrimp, scallops, perch, and haddock â it was all so good. And a decadent fudge, peanut butter, silk cake arrived - just when I thought the meal could not get any better. Oh, how good it was. Why, I stuck my fork into the silk cake and the cake stuck to the fork when I turned it over. It was so moist, so rich, so good! The Waupaca Woodâs Restaurant should definitely be a place that you visit.

Hands down, the best pizza on the Chain. Classic thin crust that bakes up a little crispy on the edges, but stays soft and chewy in the middles. Sausage has a great taste to it and the pizza is seasoned perfectly. The cheese has the good, melty flavor that only real good cheeses can do. You can't stay on the Chain without stopping at Wheelhouse. Monday nights are all you can eat pizza buffet and if you're not their early, be prepared to wait. They have other specials throughout the week and it is just as crowded. My family avoids the crowds and orders take out. We always order a bit more than we can eat - great cold pizza the next morning!

The fish and the "chips" seemed like they were bought in the grocery store. I was served three small rectangles of fish with thick, hard batter breading. Very overcooked. Barely edible. The "chips" were not the English/Irish style that we refer to as steak fries. They were more like Ore-Ida waffle fries but only had ridges one direction. Just barely thicker than potato chips. The pile was enough for 3 people, way too much! The cole slaw was also not very good, only ate half of it. My dinner companion had Jambalaya and she said it was pretty good. Service was good and so was the atmosphere. Prices were a bit on the high side. $16 for Fish & Chips out of the frozen section of the grocery store.
