Today, we left the cool temperatures of Angel Fire, NM, and were melting in the TEXAS heat the second we crossed the state line. Braum's in Vernon was our only choice for some heat relief. We enjoyed their burgers and fries before we dove into our ice cream, milkshakes and banana splits. The place is clean, service is fast, and the folks at Braum's are always friendly. If you are traveling with your pet, be sure to save a little pinch of your burger and at least one spoon of ice cream for them. They get HOT too!

Small restaurant, very friendly staff. Stopped on the way through for tomato basil soup and Mac and cheese. Soup was good but the macaroni anf cheese was the best I've ever had. They don't have a large menu but they know how to cook what they offer! I would definitely stop here again.

Saw rating on trip advisor and was convenient to us passing thru for lunch stop. Had trailer and could park on side street.Don't know who's been writing these reviews Chips were stale. Our food was barely edible. Couldn't eat the guacamole it was so bad. Tasted like it had soured, didn't know that was possible. Were several locals and workers there when we left. Maybe they knew what to order. We obviously did not.

Ate at Rusty Spur steakhouse in Vernon on Wed 01/23/2019 at 5pm. Our cost before tip: $56.85 which we thought was reasonable for a steak house, but don't think this would qualify as fine dine in any way. Food, service and overall experience were good and we may try again when in Vernon.Details:DECOR: Looked like a place we'd get the car's oil changed, both inside and out. Corrogated metal on wall, paint on concrete floor fading fast. Nothing fancy about this place.SEATING: Self seating. Sat in booth but tables available. Dining area is separated from bar area which also has seating.MENU: Limited offerings on readable single sheet.SERVICE: Everyone else in restaurant were locals and known by server who greeted them warmly. For us, service was attentive, but impersonal and strictly businessPORTION SIZE: Good sizedFOOD QUALITY: My meal was very good. Wife's fillet appeared to be a different cut and tougher than a typical fillet.CLEANLINESS: Looks like a garage, but generally cleanNOISE: TypicalOUR EATS: We both liked the salad. My 8 oz Fillet ws tender and very good $22.95, also got a good loaded baked potato for $1 add. Sloshed it down with 3 happy hour beers 2.75/ea. Wife also had the 8 oz fillet, but hers was thin, looked like road kill and was tough. Fillet? I don't think so.

Three Hearts Steakhouse

Reviewed By Debby A

We stopped on our way home from Colorado, truly hungry, searching for good food mainly and weren't disappointed. Since on our vacation we'd had a 'No Chain Restaurants Rule" we purposefully wanted a local restaurant. The menu is the usual fare for a steakhouse-burgers, Chicken Fried Steak/CF Chicken, salads, etc. Because I'd read the reviews, I ordered the half CFSteak and it was plenty. In fact, brought half my meal home in a to go box. The large portion of mashed potatoes were super good with amazing texture and flavor-they screamed 'homemade'. We enjoyed fresh green beans cooked to perfection, as well as corn on the cob. It was a noisy atmosphere because it was the lunch hour-aren't all steakhouses?- and it is NOT fast food, so we waited a while for our food. But the initial service was quick when we were first seated, bringing drinks, taking our order , and attentive throughout the meal. Decor isn't why you go here- this place is about the food. It was clean enough. They were having trouble that day with the credit card machine, it was taking about 15-30 minutes to run it through, so luckily we had cash and were able to pay and get out quickly. Don't know if that's a one time thing or a common occurrence.
