I saw this amazing lady, Renee Boughman on U.N.C. TV. Our public broadcasting station here in NC. Talking about her F.A.R.M. cafe. Her concept of everyone can eat regardless of financial status & pay it forward is just lovely. You can volunteer at the cafe to eat if you don't have money. She is an amazing spirit & does business with local farms. I was determined to meet her while I was on vacation in the mountains around Boone, NC & check out the food as well. Let me tell you, she did not disappoint! The food was so fresh & so delicious, I wish I could eat there often, but we live 4 hours away at Ft. BRAGG, NC. If you are ever in Boone, NC. Please check out the F.A.R.M. Cafe! You won't regret it. The people that work there are very warm & inviting also.

I like fun and different sandwiches and my family likes basic. This place has both. Shaved ham and Brie with apples for me and basic turkey for them. Wait wasn't too long even on a busy day. Friendly staff. Potato salad was only ok. Recommend this place!

Upscale casual dining specializing in creative American cuisine focusing on local/regional cuisine and products. Extensive wine and specialty beer lists including mixed beverages.
While in town for the weekend (crazy, App State student move-in weekend), we decided to stop in here for brunch on a late Sunday morning, and we're so glad we did. The place wasn't super packed when we arrived, but it filled up quickly. The brunch menu is amazing, and deciding what to have was hard. Two of us had the Cap'n Crunch Pancakes, one had the Breakfast plate, and I had the Chicken Stack. The portions were massive, and everything was delicious! Super flavorful and fresh. We'll absolutely come back!

Meryle is an outstanding host. The food prepared by her husband Dominic exceeded our expectations for a restaurant in the mountains! The food is so fresh, homemade, different. We had homemade chicken soup with 4 different samdwiches which come on their homemade bread/rolls. Just delicious! We had 4 different desserts one better than the next. Not too sweet, just right. We even took home a chicken pot pie to bake. I wish they were in Greensboro! Well done! A must go visit!

A fun casual restaurant near the Hampton Inn. We had a drink at the bar while we waited for a table. Very reasonable, good food. My husband had the Baby Back Ribs & I had the Jerk Chicken tacos. Very enjoyable & attentive staff.

This was our best dinning experience in a while and definitely the best restaurant in the greater Banner Elk area. We started with salted beats and fresh greens salad appetizers. Plating was artistic and both dishes delivered explosion of flavors. We ended up ordered salmon and duck for entrees. Duck was unusually flavorful and crispy. Salmon had nice crisp on outside, yet was amazingly flaky and buttery. Food portions were moderate, enough to enjoy the food without belly aching. My wife had a nice glass of Pinot noir. The service was extremely professional, yet very friendly. Valet parking was a nice touch. This place is must experience for every âfoodyâ. We will be back.

The bar area was great fun! Bartenders extremely attentive and even gave us a sample of a drink weâd never had. Made reservations for 7 but was 7:20 before we were seated after I reminded hostess and bartender even checked for us. Unfortunately I wonder if it was because we were women and only 2 of us while several families and couples came after us and were seated first. Hope not! Food was good but with all the reviews over the years I was surprised that it wasnât more of a blown away type experience. And it was SO loud inside it was hard to carry on a conversation at the table we were placed. The next best part was the valet parking! Those young men were top notch!

My husband and I decided on Over Yonder for our 40th anniversary dinner while traveling through the Boone area. We were not disappointed! The restaurant was clean, the staff were efficient and friendly, the food was delicious and came to the table hot (a plus for me). He enjoyed the mountain rainbow trout and I ordered the tomato cobbler with blt salad. Both were absolutely divine! The small gift shop beside the restaurant is also nice to walk through after dinner. Reservations are recommended, but they will take call ahead seating on the covered porch if the weather permits. If you are just looking for a nice meal or a place to celebrate a special occasion, I certainly recommend you give Over Yonder a try if you are in the area.

Red Onion is a local restaurant that has been serving the High Country across from Appalachian State for over 30 years. Our menu ranges from lunch time favorites to local delicacies and exquisite entrees. With a wonderful waitstaff customer satisfaction i
Our server, Brie was excellent and super knowledgeable and friendly. My husband had the coffee rubbed filet and it was delicious. Our college student daughter had the champagne chicken florentine and she ate every bite. And I had the low country salmon which had a good flavor except that it was overly salty. We would definitely go back only I would change my order. I love that this is a local restaurant that has been here for 34 years(I think).
