Reminds me very much of Greek influence diners in Chicago with large portions and a family atmosphere. Food was decent and I recommend this place for any meal you'd like. Service was a little iffy and it wasn't busy at all, but may someone didn't show up to work.

First off, Troy Kitchen is a REALLY NEAT VENUE made up of about 1/2 dozen "order at the counter" restaurants, a common eating area, and then a performance space. While I LOVE TROY KITCHEN, I would NOT recommend one of the eateries located within Troy Kitchen, Halal Palace. A few weeks ago I placed a catering order with Halal Palace on a Sunday afternoon for a Monday delivery. The owner who took my order was very pleasant and said he'd throw in free beverages as well as giving me a discount. After placing the order, I repeated back to him everything we had spoken about (that I had written on paper), including the total cost and 20% tip I had tacked onto the order. We agreed on everything and hung up the phone. With the exception of the delivery being made on time the next day, everything else went down hill fast. I first noticed that plates had not come with the order as promised. I asked the delivery person if he could swing back to the restaurant to pick up the plates. He looked panicked, saying his boss (the owner) would not be happy with this. I realized why, when about 5 minutes later (as i was waiting for the plates and unpacking the food), I got a horribly unprofessional and nasty phone call from the owner, yelling at me from the other end of the phone line telling me to "stop monkeying around with [his] delivery person" and accusing me of never having asked for plates. The owner hung up on me several times during this phone encounter, also alleging me of lying and only giving a 20% tip when he "claims" I "promised" a 30% tip on the order. While waiting for the plates and unpacking the rest of the catering order, I realized there was also no salad dressing. I called back the restaurant requesting salad dressing be added to the plates that were needed. I reached the owner again who continued to scream at me and hang up the phone several times, saying i never ordered salad dressing and was lying and wasting his time and money after he had comped my beverages and given me a discount on the food. I tried to explain that while I was appreciative of the gesture he made with those discounts, that was not an excuse to not deliver what I had ordered and paid for. He called me some pretty nasty and sexist names i will not put here on this review and hung up the phone on me. In short, it was terrible customer service and I've never encountered such verbal abuse from a restaurant employee, let alone the owner. Taste-wise, the falafels and rice were completely bland and extremely dry. I love falafels and have had them at several other locations where they were moist and tasty. I had to drench the food in hot sauce, BBQ sauce, and Tzatziki sauce to get any kind of flavor out of them. I thought perhaps if I took some leftovers home and spritzed a bit of water on them before microwaving them, they'd be more moist and flavorful. Unfortunately, this didn't change anything. I will never order from this restaurant again. I will patron Troy Kitchen, but not Halal Palace.

Very much like most Sports Bars. Loud atmosphere, with hi-top tables. The food was good - the drinks were OK. Being somewhat of a chain, no over pours.

My friend and I stopped in for a Sunday breakfast. We found a table quickly. I splurged and ordered the pumpkin milkshake special. My friend saw how delicious mine was and immediately ordered a vanilla milkshake. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and my friend ordered the Bigger Breakfast. The food was tasty. The service was friendly. My only complaint is that she kept forgetting the spoons, the water, cream for the 2nd cup of coffee etc. I can forgive it but for that reason I am giving the review 4 stars. Because of the good food, friendly crowd, and great overall feel, I will definitely be back again in the future. Our total bill for 2 milkshakes, food, and coffee came to $48 with tip.

I came here with a co-worker for lunch this week and was blown away! I was a little skeptical about going to a tea house for lunch and canât wait to go back! We sat outside on a beautiful spring day and had a wonderful experience. The food menu is unexpectedly large and awesome! I had a really hard time deciding on what to have because there were so many great choices. I ultimately settled on the afternoon tea option which included a soup, sandwich and desert. It was a ton of food and we both had leftovers to take home. I tried the curry chicken club and it was the best curry chicken that I hav head in a long time!My only issue here at lunch, and it is not really an issue was the amount of time it took to get our food and finish lunch, but that was because we chose the afternoon tea option. Everyone around us did not and was done much sooner. I think that option is designed for you to be able to sit and visit. This is not ideal when you are taking a break from work, but would be great if you are there with friends.Thank you so much for allowing us to serve you, topher2076. Till next time!

We always enjoy a stop at Brown's as we remember it from a long time ago as Brown and Moran's and then it was Uncle Sam's, but now its back to just Brown's. Good friendly bar tenders, great drinks and dinner. Sausages are excellent and so is their steak but there is a full burger and sandwich menu with appetizers too.

located at the historic downtown Troy, right in the first floor of the Cannon Building, once was a jewelry store now converted in a beautiful bistro cafe with outside seating, you can definitely enjoy cocktails with your lunch or mimosas with our weekend
In Albany for a wedding, we went to Troy to visit our alma maters, Russell Sage College and RPI. After a chilly walk around town (my! how things have changed - so many interesting shops, craft and artisan stores and restaurants!) we were in search of a warm lunch. Illium is a wonderful spot! We were greeted warmly and had a nice corner table in the back. The decor is charming - old wooden glass cases that once housed jewelry, murals up above of the rivers and art work all around. We had two orders of the Reuben which was loaded with corned beef and grilled on marble bread. The cole slaw was declared delicious, too. Two of us opted for the soup and half sandwich - one vegetable soup and one delicious roasted red pepper puree. One of us had the turkey sandwich and I had the incredible steak and brie sandwich with horseradish sauce on ciabatta. I am normally not a big beef eater, but the description sounded yummy and it was available for the half sandwich option. Soups and sandwiches were all great choices. The servers were efficient, pleasant and accommodating. We will definitely be back on our next trip to the area. Thank you!

This Dinosaur Bar-B-Que location is part of a chain serving Southern-style smoked meats and draft brews (~25 options) in a dark wood, inviting, relaxing retro setting. They are located right along the Hudson River in the historic area of Troy and have seating (inside and outside) that overlooks the river. Otherwise, their interior is quiet huge, with seating on the bar side (at the bar, hightops, tables) or in the family area (tables, booths). They are appropriate for singles, couples, families or groups (two private rooms). If you cannot stay to eat, they also provide carryout options. They have their own lot, with plenty of off street parking. Inside they have TVs spread around for viewing current sporting events. Further, they have live music (Friday & Saturday evenings). Of course, they feature smoked meats which include wings, shrimp, pulled pork, brisket, sausage, salmon, chicken, and ribs. And of the latter are available meal options. For those that cannot choose just one - have a platter or two or three. They too offer burgers or their smoked meats in various sandwich options. Sides include BBQ beans, fries, BBQ fried rice, Mac & cheese, chili, greens, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, coleslaw or potato salad. We tried their Vegetarian Smoked Portobello sandwich, BBQ Ribs, smoked sausage, smoked chicken, pulled pork and brisket. We loved all of their smoked options. The sides too were excellent. Added to the nice food, the service was too superior. We look forward to our next visit.

High energy, casual fine dining in downtown Troy, featuring shareable plates of American food with global influences.
A friend suggested we dine here after he attended a wine tasting nearby. The food was excellent as was the service. The entire dining experience was enjoyable. The atmosphere is perfect to conduct casual conversation at out table. My wife's trout was prepared to perfection. My entree was the special pasta dish and was equally delicious. We will be returning for sure.

We prefer the bar area as itâs cozier than the dining room. This is the first time we had their wings and it was agreed they are the best weâve had in a very long time.We appreciate you coming in to dine with us and love to hear you enjoyed the wings. We'll keep them hot and fresh for your next visit.
