Do not stop here. We stopped for dinner at 7:00 and waited almost 30 minutes for chicken strips. The restaurant was not busy. I guess the locals know not to stop there.

When we visit Talladega, we've often gone to Huddle House for breakfast. The food is great, but the cooks are ridiculously slow. It's not the server's fault. They are go-getters. But they can't get the food out if it's not ready. 40 minutes is too long to wait for breakfast. Since there aren't a lot of choices for breakfast in Talladega, after having long waits the last several trips to Huddle House, I guess it will be McDonald's from now on.

The menu has a good selection of sandwiches and salads. A limited variety of daily meats, but oh those side items. I went for a vegetable plate with butter peas, Mac & cheese, with squash casserole, corn muffin and a rich slice of chocolate cream pie. I will be a regular customer because the food is fresh, homemade, in a nice clean environment and reasonably priced.

Let me start with, the wifey and I ARE NOT big Captain D's eaters. Too greasy, too processed, faux seafood- why bother when you can usually do sooooo much better, right? However, to our surprise, the Captain D’s in Dega is actually dang good!! We love the Manger’s Special of fish, chicken and shrimp with two sides and hush puppies. What makes this D’s special is the lack of stale grease smell and taste; not only in store, but in the prepared food too. We’ve yet to order any item that wasn’t top notch. In our region, there are several places that others and legend will tell you, “Oh you must go eat at (Fincher’s Renfroe, The Ark Riverside…). We find the seafood/fish at Capt D’s in Talladega to be a way better in quality, preparation and taste. When in town, give ‘em a go!

Needed a quick lunch on the way to Atlanta. Service was very prompt and the food good. I ordered the pecan chicken salad sandwich on multi-grain bread. It was huge. I had to eat what fell out of the sandwich with a fork. It had lettuce, celery, diced grapes, pecans and chicken on it. It was not cheap at around $6, but it was very filling. The restaurant restrooms needed some attention. The tables around us were not wiped down. When you need a quickly satisfying meal, Arby's is a good choice.

Traveling as a group, we stopped for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. The food was good with one exception; the microwaved pancakes. I do not know why most fast food places insist on microwaving pancakes when it takes only a minute to cook them on grill. Grits, biscuits and gravy were good.

Stampede Steakhouse & Catfish Corral

I enjoyed lunch here today. I saw customers for pick up or dine in coming and going continuously. The menu offers a choice of two meats and a variety of veggies to select by the day of the week. The desserts are not to be passed. Fried pies and other sweets are offered. The price is comparable to other restaurants. Great meal for $10. Tables and chairs are available for individuals or large groups (We saw as many as 8 dining together.). Every waitress that passed our table asked if we needed anything. The catfish nuggets and 2 veggies were very satisfying. Oh, to our surprise our meal cane with a small cup of cobbler that wasn't too sweet but just right. I definitely plan to return to eat here.

Finchers is known for there fish and I was not disappointed. The fish was fried to perfection and the portion was a nice size. The sides were good as well. Finchers is a dine in restaurant. It's an old diner but everyone seem to enjoy the atmosphere as it is. The service is excellent and the restaurant is clean. The staff is very friendly.
