Just enjoyed a great Saturday afternoon lunch on the canal. We were greeted and made to feel very welcome from the moment we stepped in the door. We found a table outside on the back overlooking the canal. Our waitress was so pleasant and personable. Actually all of the staff were courteous and made a point of making sure everything was great. The turkey club was fresh soft and the real bacon on the sandwich was crispy and very flavorful. The Julienne salad was very good and portions were generous. I really enjoyed my visit and will most definitely return. Also if your biking the canal itâs a great stop for a bite to eat and I even heard one of the staff offer to refill water bottles for two bikers who had stopped for lunch, nice little send off for them. Well done.

We was here for numerous time now with our neighbors. My neighbors recommended us this restaurant to us last year and since then we were coming back quit often. They have great food and friendly staff. You wonât feel like a stranger if you are first timer there. My favorite dish is Haddock/Chicken French. You should try this if you havenât had it before.

Server Shawna was horrible, and must have another agenda for peoples perception of this restaurant. We were with family as we were visiting from out of town. Shawna rolled her eyes when we asked questions, scalded my 6 year old daughter when she stated she didn't have a straw, and didn't even care that we were leaving. Slayton won't be in business much longer if they let $100 checks leave the door with a nonchalant, "Okay." from rude and unfriendly staff. BTW others were correct when they stated the seats are in terrible condition or is that tear'able!

The LARGE menu (2' x 3'?) offers many wonderful choices such that you will definitely have a hard time deciding. Whatever it is, though, rest assured it will be delicious - when it finally gets to you! We (group of 6) waited over an hour after ordering for food to arrive. Twice, our waitress said it will be coming "shortly" before telling us it would be another 5 minutes while she apologized and offered excuses that did not make sense. When we arrived, there were many empty booths. Yes, it filled up, but not until well after we were there. Many patrons came AND left before we were finished eating. Not sure what was the real reason for the long delay. Two of our dishes had to be returned also, because they were incomplete! Will give it a try again for the great food, but...

This little bistro calls itself a "refined American Eatery." You can dine in or order take out. Their menu has lunch and dinner options... a down home quaint spot, with great food and hospitality. Wine and beer available. French onion soup is yummy.... specials are offered daily. This is a must try!

I always have great service at this location. The front counter people are generally very friendly. The food is delicious at a fair price. A monster outlaw potato is big enough for two people to share. My only issue is how they package food to go. Many times my cornbread has been placed alongside my pulled pork which means I have soggy cornbread when I get home :-(
