Went for dinner on a Friday night. Not from the immediate area, so we were going in blindly...PROS: Staff was friendly. French fries and chocolate chip pancakes were the best I've ever had. Carrot cake and chocolate layer cake were thickly sliced and also delicious. Server (and a manager) checked on us various times to make sure everything was ok.CONS: Restaurant is outdated and in need of a major interior facelift. Should at least get some new highchairs (one we used must have been 30 years old and was rusting). Server has difficulty understanding what we wanted (we had to point to the items on the menu). Tuna melt was subpar (tomatoes were flavorless and looked wilted, tuna salad wasn't the best, cheese looked like Kraft singles). Restaurant was dead on a Friday night minus a group of about 20 who came in for a repass.Overall, it wasn't a bad experience. I'd go back if just for the menu items that I really liked...but the outdated decor is kind of off-putting. Better diner experiences out there.

If you like friendly, prompt, well prepared seafood, go somewhere else. Red Lobster has a pretty good menu. This one Stinks, literally. The stench from the men's room ran me out of it when washing my hands. Smelled like it had not been cleaned in a month. We went out for dinner Thursday night and arrived at 7:45pm. The place was half empty and we were seated 20 minutes later. Are you kidding? 15 minutes later the waitress finally arrived to take our drink and dinner orders. The order was complicated - Water, but it arrived about 10 minutes later. We waited on the salads for about 30 minutes after that. Again, very complicated - House salads. Entrees - one of the specials, yeah right. Popcorn shrimp. Mac & Cheese for my daughter. They all arrived 20 minutes after the salads. My special, spicy shrimp with lettuce arrived with the shrimp being barely warm and colder than the lettuce head. The popcorn shrimp were ok, and the Mac & Cheese edible. We asked to have biscuits without garlic, so what arrives with dinner, garlic laden biscuits. Excuse me. May I have some more water please? 15 minutes later, and just in time to finish choking down my cold shrimp. After requesting the check to free my family from this ordeal, it arrived 15 minutes later. Almost a two hour dining experience I would not want to repeat, No apologies from the management, no excuses for all the mistakes in the orders, no can we do anything to make your meal right. This management SUCKS! The waitress could barely remember her own name, let alone where our table was. Poor food, poor service, filthy restaurant. Try somewhere else.

You know a diner is going to be good when you see police cars in the parking lot. Took my son there for very early breakfast after picking him up at metropark. Itâs a family diner and it shows. Very homey, not all slick with mirrors. My son had his first Benedict and the glory of hollandaise sauce was noted. I had SOS aka chipped beef on toast. Both were very good as was the coffee. Will definitely be back.

Been eating here well over 50 years and honestly other than price increases over and over the subs taste exactly as they did from when I was 15 or younger. Always a good sub Bread fresh and deli meat average at best but still good and lettuce and tomato always fresh Every so often you need one of these sometimes a couple times a week

We parked in the lot right in front of the restaurant, and a valet promptly and warmly welcomed us. Even though we were the first couple of a foursome to arrive, we were offered our seats at the table and promptly served a bread basket and water while we waited for our friends. How nice! We were given one of the coveted tables right by the window with the best view. When our friends arrived, we ordered a variety of appetizers and main dishes which were all excellent. Service by our waitress, Ronnie, was extremely professional and courteous. The ice cream sandwich desert was delicious, and the coffee was hot and rich in coffee flavor, a rarie to find in most restaurants today. Of great importance to us is that the dining room is very quiet and very conducive to conversation. No loud music like you find in too many restaurants these days. The bill was reasonable for the terrific experience. Based on this one experience,I would definitely return even though I donât live nearby.

Came here for business lunch. I can say that this is the first time I actually liked my meal. I had the salmon and asparagus which was pretty good. The service was typically slow but server was more attentive than others.

For me a diner is all about 24-hour breakfast, fast, personable service, fresh ingredients done to order, ample portions and comfortable, clean surroundings. The Park Avenue Diner delivers. Been there a dozen times over the years. Always return when visiting Plainfield/Edison.

The menu had so many tempting items. I went with the Chicken Parmesan dinner. My wife had a Mushroom and Swiss burger. Both were wonderful. The burger was very large and my wife enjoyed it and took home half. My Chicken Parmesan on linguine with homemade marinara was amazing. The chicken so tender and plentiful. Service was great and personable, despite the restaurant being very busy. A very enjoyable dinner. Weâll be back for sure.

Our favorite diner. Breakfast is best - they have all day breakfast and specials. The corned beef hash is a favorite side. Dinner is also very good - soup, salad, entree and dessert. Very friendly and helpful staff. Will keep on returning.

This restaurant was just a short walk from the Hampton Inn in S. Plainfield. We had a group of 8 that squeezed into a single bench table. It was tight, but adequate. The service was a little slow but the food was good and priced OK for what you got. I recommend the Chili Chili Burger. I had them hold the mayo and add mustard. The combination with the red onions..... well, it my favorite burger now. Give it a try.
