Let's start with positives. Pulled Pork is great. Most meals come with unlimited hot/cold sides. Now, no more vegetable soup. Always a great thing to have while you wait for the meats, But today, it was chicken sausage gumbo. A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. Second, potato salad no longer has dill. The unique seasoning was a signature dish for Bubs.Lastly, sides were limited and about half of the choice in my past visits. (Was it because it was a weekday?)Sorry.

As a repeat temp worker at a local company, I was really surprised with the lower standards of this diner compared to last fall. I was looking forward to going back and have dined there four times since early September at different times of the day. Twice for lunch, once for breakfast and once late afternoon. Each time, the order took too long (30+ min) although late afternoon was the best in terms of getting our food. The breakfast was a disaster with burnt bacon, cold toast covered with margarine although I requested it dry so I could just add jelly. The eggs were not cooked enough although I asked for well done. It took almost 10 minutes to resolve that issue. The waitress didn't offer an explanation besides that the cooks were 'very busy' and still kind of new. Okay, but this is a diner and quick service should be the rule and not the exception. Lunch plate had cold undercooked fries but I had no time to return them so pretty bad. And so on each time. It felt like very little effort was put into the presentation besides quantity not quality. My focus is on the food prep since I know I'm at a diner and not expecting a 5 star restaurant. But I did expect some consistency and skill and not just a sloppy looking plate. It would be hard for me to justify not driving a couple miles up the road for the next couple months as my coworkers agreed that it's just not good lately.

Went there twice with family and never disappointed! Between the bread, marinated cucumbers, salad, entree and dessert, you'll never leave hungry. You have to try the Lobster Crusted fresh Boston Haddock with asparagus spears and lobster hollandaise on top....can't begin to tell you how delicious it was! Also, the Broiled Sea Scallops en Casserole is amazing too! And don't forget their au gratin potatoes...so good! Definitely one of my top restaurants ever!
We made two visits to The Dove's Nest over the previous weekend while on vacation in the Pioneer Valley. We have a long history with the restaurant as it was our "go to" place for Saturday breakfast/lunch back in the 1990s when we lived in the region.Everything was fantastic and also extremely familiar. The menu hasn't changed a great deal. Possibly not at all. It's primarily a breakfast place with "diner style" food, and also serves lunch every day except Sunday. The food is great and a good value. The service was friendly and they immediately brought our daughter crayons and a child's placemat to color on. Coffee is good, strong but not bitter or burned. Portions are large. In particular, the pancakes and French toast are priced by the individual piece and the pancakes are huge (7"+ wide) and the French toast is double thick. If we still lived out there, we'd probably be hitting it up every Saturday just like we used to!
They serve pierogi's and ice cream and all sorts of fresh from the garden items. An enjoyable place for lunch, ice cream, take home for dinner. Great family place

Although I got fries when I ordered onion rings, I kept them because they looked so good. The scallop roll was tasty and my wife and daughters chicken sandwiches were devoured with no leftovers. The waiter was prompt, friendly, and the owner. Visited 10/15/15

Family restaurant, located in the belly of the Pioneer Valley, serving lunch and dinner daily, with the addition of breakfast on weekends. Our food is sourced locally, cooked simply, and reasonably priced. Come on down and enjoy good food, good drink and
Using a giftcard my wife and I stopped for Friday night dinner on 5/17/19, and I was famished. I ordered the scallops on rice with balsamic vinegar and asparagas. It was terrific. I could have eaten 4 of them. There were 4 scallops, 4 spears of asparagas, and 4,000 grains of rice. Dinner rolls and a salad would have made the meal. I couldn't wait to get home to my homemade brownie alamode. Next time I will get an appetizer....The parking lot was full, and we literally waited for someone to leave to take their space, but inside was only half full. Most tables had diners who drove there alone and met friends at their table. Don't get intimidated and leave thinking there may be a wait! They have a super friendly staff. Sara was our server and was great.

We have visited 3 times and after all of the rave reviews on Facebook, we expected to be blown away. Not yet. The breakfast portions are VERY small for the amount of money you spend, and the presentation is really lacking. The muffin tops are good but nothing outstanding. The last time we were in, we got some cookies to go and asked whether or not they had nuts (due to severe nut allergies in our family). The person at the register had no idea and just said, "I don't think so." Yikes! Food allergy training and awareness of ingredients is definitely needed. After getting home and eating the cookies, we threw both of them away (two different kinds). They tasted really stale and unappealing. I really hope this place succeeds but I think all of the hype is based on people being excited that a cafe was finally coming to South Deerfield, any cafe! We will continue to head to Sunderland to our favorite breakfast spot by the bridge.Hi, first thank you for your feedback. It helps bring awareness to the growing pains that need addressing. Would you mind sharing what day you visited so that I may look into the cookie incident? I take allergen handling extremely seriously, knowing when you visited will help address the problem quickly.

Eleven of us dined here for lunch after my Mom's funeral service. I called in advance and made reservations. Tables were set up in the middle of the dining room. The menu had a good variety of salads, sandwiches, etc. Typical bar food. I ordered the Wiggley Piggley, thin-sliced hot pastrami with Swiss cheese and Dijon mustard on grilled rye bread. It was very good. The Dijon mustard had a nice kick. One person ordered the French onion soup and I'm sorry to say she didn't like it at all stating there were hardly any onions, too much bread, and very, very salty. Had I known, I would have pushed her to order something else.Service was fine and prompt.I would definitely come back.

We recently had a celebration dinner at the Blue Heron. The food was fantastic. We were a group of 10 and every single dish ordered was beautiful and delicious. My only complaint would be that our server could have been more attentive. She never refilled our water glasses, I spent some time trying to get her attention near the end of the meal and could never do it. So no water refill even with the effort on my part. Even with that frustration, I would highly recommend Blue Heron.
