Reviews on American food in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, United States. Sault Ste. Marie /ˌsuː seɪnt məˈriː/ is a city in, and the county seat of, Chippewa County in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is situated on the northeastern end of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, on the Canada–US border, and separated from its twin city of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, by the St. Marys River. The city is relatively isolated from other communities in Michigan and is 346 miles from Detroit. We found the restaurant to be clean and friendly. We always saw a crowd there so we knew it would be good. We had breakfast and had we known the portions we could have easily split a breakfast. We did ask and a plate to share was $2 which is common now.

We had lunch here and it was very good. I enjoyed the queso dip with the flour chips. We both had burgers that were very good. It has a nice atmosphere and the service was good.

Historic site across from the Sault Locks. Fun atmosphere with numerous stuffed animals, antlers and memorabilia. Northern cuisine, and great Friday night fish fry and fun activities in the evenings during the week. Banquet room available, can take groups
No trip to Sault St. Marie is complete without a trip to The Antlers Restaurant. The cover of the menu gives the history of the place, which was started as an ice cream parlor front for bootleg drinking during Prohibition. During the UP's severe winters, the Antlers will trade drinks for just about anything-- and it's all on display. Excellent food, although they have dropped the Prime Rib from the menu, which was my favorite. Not enough choices in steaks, but make sure you try the specialty beer available only in the UP.

Across from the entrance to the Soo Locks the Lock View isn't just for tourists. Local people regard our whitefish as the best with our saying "the fish you eat today slept last night in whitefish bay". We prepare our whitefish and walleye many different
This restaurant is directly across from the Soo Locks viewing platform and park and I decided to go in and have the specialty - a Whitefish dinner. I am not a fish eater, but have heard a lot about the mildness of Whitefish, so decided "when in Rome......." I was seated next to the front window that overlooked the Soo Locks and was able to see ships pass by while I ate my dinner - until it got too dark to see them. This is a two story restaurant and I was on the top floor. The wait staff was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the offerings from the restaurant. The dinner was extremely good, well cooked, and presenting in a pleasing fashion.

Frank's Place is a locally owned and locally supported hometown restaurant that has developed a good catering reputation
My deep fried whitefish dinner included the soup and salad bar. Dinner arrived at our table on a platter. The serving of fish dominated the platter. It was delicious. It was about three times the quantity of fish I had been served the day before at a different restaurant. The salad bar was fresh and well stocked.

The Palace Saloon is truly a Soo establishment, opening for the first time over a century ago. The restaurant has seen some changes over the decades, switching hands and even looks, but what has always remained the same is the Palace Saloonâs amazing food
Ate at the restaurant Sep 1, 2019. Friendly waitress, nice atmosphere, great margaritas....but the meal was less than desirable. While eating my quesadilla I bit into something very hard. Turns out there was a skewer in my quesadilla. I swallowed a piece of it :( Lost my appetite. My sisterâs meal had a glob of cheese on it that was inedible, it appeared that it may have sat for awhile before being delivered to the table. We may have just been there on a bad night.

Always a treat! Clyde's has the best burgers in the eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We had burgers today and were rewarded as always. I had my usual, the Olive Burger with mayo in a basket. (That comes with fries and Cole slaw) My wife had her usual mushroom/Swiss burger. Both were enjoyed at the nearby park watching the river flow past. How great. Can't be beat. Service is great too.

We picked this spot based on TripAdvisor reviews and hope there might be a better option for our meals tomorrow. Yes, this is a bar not a gastropub and we were fine with that. We ordered two different burgers and they were just ok. Not sure what the raves were about. Service was just ok as well. Staff seemed friendlier to younger patrons. Weâve been traveling through the up for 4 days and following TripAdvisor reviews and this was the most disappointing.

Karl's Cuisine is a full-service restaurant, winery, brewery and catering company, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan with a spectacular view of the Sault Locks. Whether seated inside or outside on the upper deck at Karl's Cuisine Café, enjoy delicious, fresh,
Usually a restaurant that is in a touristy town has often less than average food. This one is the exception. This is my second visit and the reason I returned is the food was exceptional the first time. Very different sandwich selection that many might call "gourmet". Service was wonderful and the pricing was fair. Good beer selection from their own brewery. Sound level was a bit high from a group of ladies sitting close. Location is great as well with the Locks directly across the street. You can sit and enjoy the food and watch the ships glide through the Locks.

We read the reviews and so went to the West Pier Drive In. It is a small building under the bridge to Canada, next to the Sault Ste Marie Locks...a bit hard to find, but keep looking because it is worth it. Not really for someone on a diet- I ordered a side salad, and a half of a turkey sub. My husband had the fried fish, and my daughter the hamburger. We ordered the fried pickles instead of the french fries. The pickles were great, lighly battered, deep fried spears- served with ranch dressing. My husbands fish was very fresh, moist and served with Lettuce tomato and tartar sauce on a bun. My turkey also had lettuce tomato and chopped olives and mushrooms and was on a 8" long half of a hero roll. My salad was generously topped with croutons, chopped tomato, onions, peppers, and of course lettuce. My daughter's burger was super thick and juicy (we both tasted it and agreed one of the best we have had) We also had drinks and the total cost was about $25..
