Historic Beaufort's Urban Seafood Grill. The Saltus Kitchen is home to a cast of talented characters committed to the culinary art form, experience and presentation. From it comes our area's freshest sushi, mind-blowing steaks and seafood and an unsurpass
We both had fish. It was well cooked and presented. Nice restaurant. The only downside was the sudden arrival of an overly noisy bunch of loud mouthed, boorish, obnoxious middle aged American men. Probably on some kind of golf trip but what a rabble. May as well have been in a Taco Bell at that point.

Chef Lang and Chef Shaw's version of 'New Southern Cuisine' contains the past, present, and future all at once. Younger, lighter, and fresher than traditional Southern 'Old School' deep-fried fare while acknowledging culinary influences from the world bey
Our friends and us tried this restaurant for dinner. It was very good and evidently we were lucky to get in there. The drinks were very good. The calamari appetizer was tender and crisp. My wife had the scallop entree and I had the Catch of the Day which was Trigger Fish. It was excellent. I will say this though if you are hungry do not get the scallops (you get 2 or 4), there is not enough.

Wren Bistro and Bar is a locally owned and operated restaurant and bar that features an ever evolving menu for both lunch and dinner. The kitchen uses delicious locally caught seafood, great cuts of steak, juicy chicken, and tasty pasta dishes. The portio
We live in Beaufort and give Wren a try every couple of years hoping they will get it together, but I just don't think it will ever happen. It's like a restaurant in the Atlanta airport - it stays in business because of people passing through (tourists). It they had to depend on locals, it would have closed years ago. Today's twisted caesar salad had cabbage in it - now that's quite a twist, and I have a hard time understanding how anyone could think cabbage belongs in a caesar. I doubt it was "artistic license" on the part of the chef; more likely, just some slacker tossing whatever green stuff they could find in the bowl. The only thing caesar about that salad was the dressing. My dining companion's fish and chips would be more appropriately named breading and chips. Another's chicken sandwich was just OK. I think we are truly done there. Beaufort has too many other choices now. Chik Fil A beats Wren by a mile in terms of food, service, absolutely everything! Next time, we will go there and save a ton of money and have a really good lunch.

City Java & News, the newest espresso bar to come to Beaufort's Historic District, offers the best in espresso drinks, breakfast, lunch wine & beer, print materials and free wireless internet access. Located within City Loft Hotel, City Java boasts the pe
This is a great little "convenience" store attached to the City Loft Hotel. You can get a very good cuppa Joe made by a Barista and a fresh Scone, or a hand tapped beer and a bag of chips. You can also catch up on the latest news (and gossip) from the locals who frequent this shop and keep the barista busy each morning. This is a very good sign.
We visited this small place with our two children and were amazed by the superb smoked barbecue pulled pork and juicy pork ribs. The best and tastiest slowly smoked meat we ate for the past 9 years! Hands down!Donât miss this little joint when youâre island hopping in St. Helena island in SC! John- the BBQ master and owner was the most gracious and sweet guy you could ever expect.

We had hoped this would be a genuine Gallah culinary experience. Sadly, it's not. The chicken gumbo was dry and didn't even have okra. The salad was from a supermarket. The fish chowder tasted like salty tomato soup and had very little fish. The corn bread was okay. On the positive side, the server was nice. All overpriced. Not worth a visit.

This is such a delicious restaurant, with great atmosphere, and even greater service. We had the crab cakes, fried shrimp, pasta, and fried oysters, and of course hush puppies. We eat seafood all the time since we are from Charleston SC, and everyone in our group agreed that this restaurant has some of the best seafood we have ever had. Our server was excellent. Prices are very reasonable. Can't wait to go back!!

We are a locally owned family restaurant specializing in seafood, steak, ribs, and a variety of great desserts. The restaurant is under new ownership and management as of April 2017. Please stop back in if you've been gone for a while, or if you've never
Though this wasn't near as bad as some of the other restaurants I've been to here it was not good either. Every place I have been to here that serves Seafood (besides Dockside) overcooks their entrees. The food here was just overall bland, not seasoned well and my family got the fried shrimp and it was overbreaded tiny pieces of shrimp. It wasn't as poor as Foolish Frog but close. Family style atmosphere though so decently nice on the inside.

Beautiful rustic restaurant nestled on the Lowcountry barrier island, with stunning marsh views, serving local shrimp from the shrimp boats just up the road, beautiful fresh seafood and local produce from Demsey Farm. We pride ourselves in fresh prepared
This is one of our two favorite restaurants in the area. We saved it for our last night at Hunting Island. We had shrimp and crab cakes. Both were excellent. The crab cakes were served with what husband said was fantastic risotto and a corn-bean-pepper medley. My shrimp was served with good fries but I spent my time on the excellent shrimp and slaw. Service was good and the atmosphere pleasant. Only ding was they did not have baked potatoes.

My husband and I often drop in for lunch at this local cafe. We both enjoy the food very much...home cooked and the onion rings are fantastic! I've had the fried shrimp, steak sandwich and several other items on the lunch menu. All were good. Friends have gone for dinner and had good things to say! Service was very good
