Okay, Iâve got to tell this story. On 6/2/18 two of my sons and I were traveling home to Huntsville, AL from New Albany, MS. We decided to stop at this Waffle House near Russellville, AL. We were starving, it was late, and thought we would make a quick pit stop. When we arrived, there was only one other table seated with an older gentleman, two younger gentlemen, and a young boy, which I assumed was the son of one of the younger gentlemen. We sat two tables away from these gentlemen and young boy. The young boy was very rambunctious and load, screaming loud. The dad of the child, one of the younger gentlemen, tried his best to control him but was having limited success. The child jumped around in their booth and made wild animal like noises pretty much the entire time we were there, which was about 45 minutes. He knocked over his dadâs drink at one point. This made his dad very unhappy. At one point the dad took the child to the restroom to administer some form of discipline. I can attest that it did not help. I have raised 5 children, so I was sympathetic towards the situations. I felt bad for the dad. He was trying hard to control the wild beast, but his efforts were of no use. The reason I describe this is not to be critical of the boy or dad, but rather to give you some context to the environment. From the beginning there was a tenseness that created a mist like anxiety that would prevail throughout our visit. The environment was accentuated by the behavior of the Waffle house staff from this point on. Our server, who did a good job, had just finished taking the orders from the other table. As we settled in, the server asked the cook if she should call out the orders she had in hand, from the other table, or take our orders and call them all out at the same time. The server must have been new. The cook seemed agitated and flustered by the question. He told our server to take our drink orders, call out the order in hand from the other table, and then take our food order. But, abruptly changed his mind and told her to take our orders and call all orders out at one time. Again, he seemed agitated by all this. She did what he said. She took our orders and then began to call them all out. Before she started, she specifically asked the cook if he was ready to receive. He said yes. Evidently, based on the cookâs response, she called the orders out improperly. The cook became more frustrated and made her do it again, this time more slowly. As she repeated the orders the cook took each food item, such as a T-bone steak, frozen hamburger meat, sausage, etc., and slammed each item down onto the prep counter. At this point the anxiety level in the restraint was maxing out. We had a screaming child and some form of work place schizophrenia going on here. The server handled all this in style. She seemingly was unaffected by the cooks agitated disposition. Meanwhile the young boy, two booths away, was losing his mind. It is difficult to describe the type of sounds this child was making. In retrospect, I bet it was because, like us, he was about to starve to death. The service was a bit slow. Or maybe he was growing more fearful of the cook as we were. The cook settled down a bit and set his hand to preparing all our foods. I think at this time the server remembered that she never brought us anything to drink. The funny thing is, because of all that was going on, we did not realize that we were all suffering from dehydration. Both my boys ordered hash browns. My older son, as a college student who frequently dines at Waffle House, noticed that the cook was not flipping the hash browns in a timely manner and mentioned that he was going to burn them. Iâm not real picky about things like this, but the cook burned them to a crisp. The boys couldnât eat them. We were afraid to say anything about it in fear that the cook would not take criticism very well, especially regarding his cooking skills. At this point we didnât want to say or do anything that might set him off. We felt that our wisest move would be to set in silence, and so we did. It was sort of scary, in a psychological way. Once our food arrived, we ate it as quickly as possible. I caught the cook, as we were finishing up, in my peripheral vision approaching our table. I was fearful that that we were about to have some type of confrontation with him, but he was simply checking to see if we were good with the food. We told him that it was delicious. He responded with, âpre-shade-itâ. He then went outside and had a smoke. Maybe he was coming off a double shift. When we returned to our car to leave, we had a difficult time processing what we had just experienced. Our nerves were frayed, and our emotions gravitated from disorientation, to fear, to just a sense of emptiness. We felt as if some part of our lives had been sucked from us, much like the death machine did to Westley from the movie âPrincess Brideâ. In summary Iâm not going to say not to visit this Waffle House. Except for the charbroiled hash browns the food was okay. I Just felt that I had to share one of the more interesting Waffle House experiences that I have ever had. My only advice is to not do anything that may aggravate the cook. I only wish that TripAdvisor had the option, âScaryâ, as a review selection.

I was looking for a place for lunch on my first ever visit to Russellville and saw that this KFC has a lunch buffet. I wheeled in immediately and commenced to consuming ample quantities of original recipe thighs as well as biscuits and gravy. Very pleased with my experience as the buffet was well stocked and the food was excellent. I give this location a hearty recommendation. Two thumbs up.
I was in Russellville, Alabama for six days. I was introduced to Jack's by some friends the first morning I was there. I ate there every morning thereafter. The service was fast. The food was good. The price was fair. And the employees seemed genuinely glad that I was there. Their service was over the top.

They have the best chicken salad plate around. The white BBQ sauce is to die for. Love their smoked chicken & BBQ. Everything I have ever had here is great. They also cater.

When we look for lunch on the road we look for local flavor and if we see a restaurant that looks like it's been around for years, that's our pick. The Frosty Inn is in its original 1960 building, and the food is basic, but good. We felt the pulled pork sandwiches were especially good - piled with tasty meat, and not drowning in sauce. Wonderful ice cream treats also.

Got in just in time, when finished there was a very long line of people waiting for a table. The grilled chicken kabob had a good flavor but the chicken was slightly dry. The Cole slaw was very good. The service was excellent, I wish other restaurants are like this.
