We always enjoy going to diners so when we spotted Table Talk for dinner and decided to give it try. extensive menu; sandwiches, platters three courses meals. Our waiter was polite and helpful. I enjoyed the turkey dinner - stuffing was very good as were the mashed potatoes. The lemon meringue pie was huge and excellent. Service was prompt and we did not have to ask for beverage refills. Ample parking right by the restaurant. We come up to the Hyde Park area for the historical sites and we will put Table Top as a spot to revisit.

Essieâs is an elegant yet casual dining American restaurant located in the heart of the Little Italy section of Poughkeepsie, NY under the direction of Executive Chef Brandon Walker a CIA graduate from Brooklyn, NY. Chef Walker's Modern American menu is i
I've been to Essie's on four separate occasions over the past three months and have always had terrific meals. What's most impressive is the food. The chef has a solid understanding of the ingredients available and knows how to assemble them into the perfect blend of comfort food with the right edge of innovation. The cavatelli with fall squashes is excellent. Most recently I had a gnocchi with branzino and shrimp that was out of this world. Both times the pasta was perfectly cooked. Other times I've had the fish specials which have been great. I haven't tried the small plates but the desserts have been excellent: the cheese cake is great but on other occasions I've just gone with the special and never been disappointed. Most recently I had a milk chocolate semifreddo (maybe it was their cremeaux repurposed) served on a spread of nutella with a side of lime ice cream and a cinnamon crumble. It was really memorable. One common thing I've noticed is that the flavors are layered and, although from the descriptions you'd think there are too many ingredients in a dish, the way they all come together actually works and works very well. The kitchen really knows what they're doing. There's a great wine list although I've always gotten wines by the glass. Bonus points for never serving from a bottle that's been open too long. The bread served is just simple slices of a really good baguette paired with European butter--if only other restaurants would keep it this simple and good.Although the food is great, the reason I keep going back is the atmosphere. First and foremost, if I'm going to a restaurant with friends I want to be able to hear them and enjoy the conversation. I don't want to be shouting over a soundtrack or the din of the dining room. What I like about Essie's is they understand that dining is about sharing an experience: the restaurant has been set up to work for a romantic date night but also an evening out with friends. It's not the least bit pretentious nor does it fall into the trap of being a stage set (fake French bistro, distressed wood barn, etc.). The owner/chef has done an outstanding job of creating a place that, in one sense is simple and unassuming, but where the food and the quality of an evening out with friends can take center stage and shine. I found the cost to be comparable to other fine dining restaurants in town but frankly, much less expensive than I would have expected to pay for meals of that caliber.

Stopped in for a relaxed lunch and we were not disappointed. Bartender has a good hand and the menu has enough choices for a variety of tastes. Started with the steamed clams - choice of ale or wine preparation. We had the wings, (about 8 preparation choices), and the chicken salad. Our server, Therese, was very attentive and the food preparation and presentation was excellent. Also, good Tuesday afternoon crowd for the outdoor patio. Worth a try.

A pleasant atmosphere. We enjoyed our corn chowder immensely. Not so impressed by the garlic bread "tower" - just pieces of bread...Pasta needed to be more al dente and dessert selection was disappointing. We took a miss. Still, scallops were great as was salad.Thank you so much for taking the time to review your recent visit to Shadows on the Hudson. We appreciate your feedback on the atmosphere and review of the dishes. We hope to see you again in the near future. Warmly,Deanna KnappRestaurant Manager

When I see a brew pub, I typically assume that the food will be passable pub fare. Burgers, fries, a token salad or two. This place shattered my expectations! The menu was ecclectic, yet balanced. Truffle arancini. Charcuterie. Burgers and salads that sounded creative and appetizing. Unlike many restaurants that try to be original, but instead cram too much into a dish, the creativity here was perfect. If you want a chicken sandwich, you don't have to say "hold the avocado, radishes, and kiwi/porcinini mushroom aeoli please." Instead, everything sounded harmonious, yet, fresh and original. The pork schnitzel deserves its own paragraph. Crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. Amazing mustard-crea-au jus sauce, but not smothered in it. Mustard spaetzel that has ruined me for all other spaetzel. And red cabbage that was so delicious it could have been a dish all its own!I live about an hour and 20 min from this place, and I'm already thinking of when I can return!Oh, and the beer was excellent, too!

The Artist's Palate is a refreshing dining experience in the heart of downtown Poughkeepsie. The menu is very creative with interesting flavor combinations incorporating more vegetables and elevating them them to equal status of the protein so they're not just an after thought. (I so dislike restaurants that focus on the protein with sides of julienned veggies!) I would have rated it with 4-5 stars but....I have food allergies and I specifically stated no butter...no dairy at all but in the course of eating it I realized there had to be butter in the brussels sprouts because I had the usual allergic reactions and felt sick all afternoon and I'm still feeling the consequences this morning! So annoying! If you have food allergies I would highly suggest speaking directly with the chef....not to say our server didn't follow through....but just to be sure!

Reopened recently after being closed for a while.
After a long absence & hearing positive things, decided to visit again. We arrived early for lunch & were quickly seated. Our pleasant server took beverage orders & told us about daily specials. Known for their soups, neither one enticed me. I had the Reuben sandwich w/side of cole slaw. Made w/pastrami & the usual kraut, swiss & russian dressing, it was flavorful, but didn't have much meat. Conversely, the Club Salad w/pulled chicken, cheddar, tomato & egg was enough for two people! No fault of the waitress...service was slow; as they only had one chef on duty. Only the salad was a good value & it cost $1 less than the sandwich...Why? A cafe in Pkpse Plaza has better food for less!

Restaurant and wine bar serving house made pasta and other Hudson Valley foods. Featuring scenic views of the Hudson and the Walkway and self serve wine machines as well as eight craft beers on tap, a full bar and thirteen wines by the glass.
I've been here a number of times and always enjoyed the food. They change the menu seasonally and specials nightly. The bartender/mixologist, Deb, creates some amazing, original special cocktails too. It is worth talking to her about it, it's really interesting.Itâs great to hear that youâre one of our regulars here at the Nic L inn! That is the best compliment in it self, and then to share this 5 star review is another.......thank you so much!! Weâre glad to hear that you always enjoy the food and like the idea that we change our menu seasonally. It allows us to take advantage of locally sourced ingredients. Deb is great at what she does, creating cocktails to go along with the season as well. Thanks again, and CHEERS till next time .
