We had a great experience; good food and service. We wouldn't hesitate to go back when we're in town again.

Stopped by this place for a good burger and fries ... which was as expected. Nothing fancy ... nothing significant ... just good food for those that like quantity over quality. However, the bartender and fellow staff were talking about "not" having sexual relations with their wives. The waitress even got involved in the conversation and started to share somewhat graphic details about her "preferences." Although I am a mature adult, the conversations were inappropriate in a public space. Not only did I feel uncomfortable, but I was tempted to move to a booth or a distant table ... yet, I should not have to move. So, consequently, I stayed at the bar and tried my best to watch the game. NOTE: The bartender did check on me multiple times and made sure that my drink was topped off and that I was satisfied with the meal.Over time, the conversation turned to movies, which was nice. Then again, the bartender and fellow staff (not the waitress) used the F word multiple times. Once again, very inappropriate. Would I come back to this site when visiting Pierre in the future? Probably not ... definitely not with my wife and kids. There are several other places in South Dakota's state capitol for consideration ... no need to help this business succeed with such non-control by its employees.
We offer several variations of smoked pork, brisket, and chicken, as well as burgers and steaks! We slow smoke everything in house, and offer several types of bbq for you to choose from.
Came here with a group of friends I was traveling with and our friends we were visiting in Pierre. We had a party of 8 and were still seated pretty quickly. The hostess was very nice. We had loaded nachos as an appetizer and they were very good. Everyone ordered different entrees and we sampled a lot of stuff from each other. The menu offered baked sweet potatoes as a side but for some reason they are only offering mashed sweet potatoes at this time, which we all thought was kind of odd. Three of our friends split on the the barbecue meals that feed 3-4 people. The brisket and chicken was really good. We enjoyed their barbecue sauce a lot. The cornbread was different than any I'd had before, in a good way. I ordered the prime rib and it was the absolute highlight of my meal. Very flavorful and cooked well. They make a good Moscow mule and their margaritas are good. The restaraunt has some interesting decor and was very clean. The biggest negative had to be our waiter. He was very nice, but seemed kind of clueless about the menu and seemed to be a little disorganized about getting things done. We had a lot of trouble keeping our water glasses from sitting empty. He disappeared at one point for quite some time and every one needed water badly by the time he returned. Not good on such a hot day. Hopefully it was just an off night for him and not the typical type of service given. Again, food was really good and we would certainly return.

Be aware this place looks like it's just a gas station and convenience store when you arrive, but go through the store and you'll see the restaurant/bar entrance. The prime rib sandwich was excellent! They call it "steak sandwich," I think. Husband had the pulled pork and said it was "just OK." Fries were very good, but potato wedges not so good. Stick with the fries! (Also heard from some locals that this place always has great prime rib, but I wasn't hungry enough to order the regular dinner plate of it.)

hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, BBQ
Counter gal was friendly but this place is a sanitation nightmare. We observed the gal provisioning the salad bar handling everything with her bare hands -- right after handling cash and working the cash register. Full contact with lettuce and other raw ingredients. The apparent owner was dressed in street clothes working behind the counter wearing a hat and coat that appeared to be pulled from a wardrobe of a disorderly mechanics grease garage. The employee that was being trained looked as if he had not showered this month and his hat must have been plucked from a dumpster. The "meal" I had was an Indian Bread taco, a greasy conglomeration of what one assumes was some type of chop meat that escaped the cannery. Run away as fast as you can from this place ... you can't do worse in Pierre.

The Coffee is great (they serve Seattle's Best). Even the drip coffee in the airpot was good. The breakfast was very good. They have a make-your-own-yogurt bar, a hot grab&go of breakfast sandwiches, various baked goods and a good regular breakfast menu.We got the special (eggs, cheese & sausage cooked in a red pepper) and a you-pick-three of fantastic sausage, french toast and biscuit + gravy. The staff was great, cheerful, and clearly liked their jobs.

Traveling on motorcycles to Sturgis we stayed overnight in Pierre and ate dinner at Mad Maryâs Steak house. A western themed restaurant with country music playing in the background. All four of us ordered the Top Sirloin and all four came cooked to order. We all agreed it was the best steak weâve had in a long long time. To top it all off the sides were excellent including garlic mashed potatoes, baked potato and sweet potatoe fries called Sun Spots. We all agree to eat here whenever traveling through Pierre SD.

We are located 5 miles east of Pierre on Highway 34 overlooking beautiful Lake Sharpe. Great food in a casual atmosphere (we have sawdust on the floor). You might have to wait, but it's worth it!!
Great appetizer-Chislic which is deep fried steak pieces with wasabi dipping sauce that is yummy. Entree comes with a dinner salad. Steaks tender, seasoned and prepared as ordered. Small outdoor seating. Busy place so arrive early to enjoy a table by the window....it's a beautiful view. We would return if passing through the area again.
