I have been to this restaurant over the years and this was particularly a good day. I ordered chicken tenders and fries and they were delicious. Service is normally friendly and this time the restaurant was extra busy, what puts service to the test (but they continued being friendly and polite). It is fairly priced.

A friend and I had lunch here while traveling on our trip through the upper Midwest. Chain restaurants are good because you pretty much know what to expect. What often sets them apart is the service. The service here was excellent. The food tasted great. The restrooms and the dining area were both clean. A very pleasant surprise almost out in the middle of nowhere.
The Woodland Grill is a nice place to relax, enjoy a nice dinner with friends and family in a quiet atmosphere. You can also watch a game or sporting event on one of our six big screen TV's. A great place to have a burger, steak, pasta, fish, or one of ou
We were here for a luncheon after a funeral. Service was really slow but we had our choice of five different entrees and there were over fifty people waiting to be served. The food was great and they did a fine job trying to serve everyone. The room was nice and the food was all made to order.

Although Zellar's does have "fancy" items- steak and seafood, etc.- on the menu, this is the place we locals go when we just want a good home-cooked meal, whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Very nice prices, portions are good, and you never leave hungry. It's very convenient for "out-of-towners," as it's the only place for miles around that has both a motel/hotel and bar/nightclub attached.

Family style restaurant featuring breakfast anytime, wraps and specialty sandwiches, smaller portions for Seniors, pasties, lower level Pub Sports Bar, busses welcome, daily specials, pizza, Mexican, variety of desserts and so much more!
We stayed in a hotel near here so ate several meals here. Service was good and was friendly and they worked at making sure it was clean. Breakfasts were good. Portions are very large. Adequate salad bar. Their chicken/rice soup was delicious! A lot of heavy country type things on menu...for people looking for large portions and comfort food type menu this is your place.

Pizza, Cheesy bread, burgers, fries and soup are all terrific! There are usually locals at the bar that can give you information about the area if you ask. Friendly, helpful people and great food and drink in the beautiful UP of Michigan. It's usually busier at dinner time so if you prefer a quieter atmosphere you may want to go mid afternoon.

Similar to other reviewers we got there 35 minutes before closing and were told everything on the menu was available. The 3 ladies we talked to were very friendly & helpful. We got the cheese breadsticks (not stinkies). The serving is 12, which is about the size of a 12 inch pizza. They were delicious. The seating is 3 clean attractive tables--one big enough for maybe 6 people--and a counter with perhaps 10 stools. The menu is limited--pizzas, breadsticks, subs, and something else I don't recall.

We were tourists staying in Newberry and found Timber Charlies on Trip Advisor. I had bbq pork sandwich with steak fries and slaw. All were delightful & delicious, including the bun. My ladyfriend had the chicken salad and thought it was one of the best she has had. Normally she does not eat croutons but loved the ones on this salad. She asked the waitress how they are made. They are from the dough for the bread they make regularly, which I think the waitress said is a mix of rye, wheat, and white flours. We were seated and our drink and food orders taken promptly but the food took quite a while. We were in no hurry and the food was well worth the wait. But the next evening we were running late and decided to go to Seder's because of the time factor. The place was full when we arrived and noisy. The acoustics are loud--hard floors, smooth wood walls--which I think are attractive, and I think wood ceiling. I don't have a solution as carpet in a busy restaurant such as this would have cleaning and sanitation problems and fabric walls would detract from the decor. Maybe acoustic tiles on the ceiling would help, I don't know. There was no music, just a house full of happy customers having a good time.We would look forward to going back for the tasty food and friendly service. That sounds like you all had a great time! Thank you for choosing Timber Charlie's of Newberry.

My husband likes to find the breweries in the area we visit. I had booked a hotel in Paradise, and we knew it was near the brewery... near meaning about a 20-30 minute drive away. Our 'only' problem- finding the brewery. It IS inside the state park- we knew it was near- we just didn't realize that it was just inside the park entrance. It was a a nice and very busy pub- and for good reason- EXCELLENT food! We really enjoyed our meal. I had a pasty- very good- I do like pasties- if you've never tried one you should, and these were good. Beer was good. Lots of choices. Staff was excellent, always willing to give directions and give advice for beer or food selections. GREAT stop.
