This place is hard to find. You definitely have to want to dine here to come here. There will not be many serendipitous trips leading you here. Located fifteen minutes north of Monticello amongst the home lined lake and river banks is the Sandbar restaurant. The building which it is located in is surprisingly spacious. Inside of the restaurant is a play area with fish and sand (hence the sandbar). We have dined outside and inside of this establishment. When you dine outside you can opt to belly up to a seating area right over the Tippecanoe River and watch the river traffic. It is a busy stretch of river leading into Lake Shaffer. We found that option to be quite enjoyable waving at the watercraft as they go bye.The food is inexpensive. The quality of the food is fair. We have found nothing to rave about here nor have we found anything to complain about. They tout there burger as the best in Monticello and are supposed to have great pizzas. WE cannot affirm their claim on the burger (think there are better elsewhere). We have not tried their pizza (perhaps next time). Drinks from the bar are served in plastic cups but we did not mind. This is a cheap place to eat on the water! That in itself makes it unique. The food is unimpressive, yet for the setting its worthy of a trip. We will be back.

Today our family visited Anglerâs for Easter. Although the waitstaff was friendly, the food for many in our party tasted bad. We were also asked to leave after a period of time to make room for the next group of people. None in our party had ever been asked to leave a restaurant to make room for another group. Several in our group traveled over 100 miles to get together and the experience was disappointing, to say the very least. We will not be visiting again.

great tasty little lunch! i found the prices to be reasonable and the root beer to be delicious! despite being busy at the time, everything came out hot. in the future, would love to see the owners transition into more items being 100% homemade.i definitely recommend the onion rings - and will just say 1 order is needed per person! delicious! :)Thanks for your business! We are working on expanding our menu to include more made from scratch items, check back again.

Monticello is a summertime tourist town; we went out for breakfast on July 5th. The restaurant was filled to near capacity with a new party arriving about the time someone left. The restaurant needed another server for such a crowd so we waited to place our order. But the servers kept coming out of the kitchen with huge trays of breakfast plates and were hustling to keep up with all the customers. We still had service with a smile and overall a good experience.

Although known for their bountiful breakfast buffet, I always order their Western omelette, which is absolutely delicious. They use 5 eggs for a large, beautiful omelette and then add hash browns and pancakes or toast! Bring a good appetite or plan on taking home a doggy bag!

My wife & I pulled âoff the roadâ for a meal during our travels through this part of Indiana, following an entry showing on our GPS unit. While the place looked âsimpleâ from the road, we found that the menu choices were quite varied. My âSenior spaghettiâ meal and my wifeâs Reuben sandwich were quite satisfying. The wait person was very tuned-in to our needs, and the food sure did come to our tables quite quickly.I sort of wished that my meal hadnât been so filling... as they have one of those glass display cases showing their many delightful looking pies and cakes for those who leave room for dessert!

When you walk in you realize that you have stumbled across a well-worn and beloved establishment. The beer selection is much larger than you would expect, and the burgers...Whew! Best around... They have a fairly wide menu choice, and the service is always with a smile. Try it out! If you don't like it, well, that's more for me!Thank You !!!
