This is a great place for Friday fish. They have several specials, each of them good. Reservations are pretty much required unless you want to wait an hour for a table.

The service seemed slow - maybe it was what we ordered - but the portions were huge. The Irish stew was great, but the shepherd's pie seemed to be made with instant mashed potatoes.

Nestled amidst the pines in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, Smokey's offers a relaxed, comfortable setting to enjoy fine dining and our premier selection of spirits and wines. Managers Kellie and Jim Zett have used all of their warmth and know-how to create
I had a delicious dinner with coworkers at Smokey's. The cheese platter was a great starter that was at our table when we arrived. Extensive wine list with great selections. I would recommend the filet mignon & Apple Crisp dessert it was exquisite. Thanks for the excellent review and for your kind compliments. We hope to see you here again very soon!

We have stopped by Gateway on our snowmobile trips for many years now. The only reason that we do stop here anymore is for the bloody mary's. They are great, but service is not good. The bartender/owner is always so unfriendly. She seems to be very annoyed to have to wait on people, which we have come to expect. We did not order any food this time, as last time it was burnt and dry (burgers). Bloody mary's were still good, but there are alot of good bloody marys in the northwoods if you know where to go.
Kyle is a great bartender and pours a mean brandy old fashion (yes it is a Wisconsin thing). Good food selection with large, tasty sandwiches. Nice up north atmosphere and one of the few places with a good selection of beers on tap.

Careful, vegetarians! I thought I was ordering a portobello mushroom sandwich, but when it arrived, it was a chicken sandwich with a few mushrooms on the top. I spoke with the manager (think she was also the owner), who said the section of the menu was labeled "Chicken sandwiches". I didn't check to see if that was correct (it may be), but just be careful.Other than that, the food was good and the manager/owner was pretty amazing as she worked the entire room and the bar all by herself. Scenery inside was a typical bar scene, though it was clean and had a Northwoods feel to it.

Food/Service/Wait Time/ AwfulWent to Cranberry Inn in Mercer for my brother in laws bday, so we weren't looking for the traditional fish fry and were pleased to see steak on the menu...boy were we wrong. First off we waited 45 min to get soup, and finally were served our meal 1.5 hrs. Later. Steaks were not cooked correctly and were not your typical cut of ribeye, ordered a crock of French onion soup got a cup of regular, potato pancakes were a joke, fried and blackened, not very appealing, French fries were cold and wimpy. Hubby ordered fish fry but got something different, had to even wait for to go containers and the bill....owner was trying to blame us for ordering steak, if your kitchen can't handle it don't have it in the menu. Place was not even busy....was here a year ago and had raw chicken, thought we would give then a second chance ..zero out of 5 stars will not be returning.

We stopped here while passing thru Mercer. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was way better than we expected for pub food. We had the reuben, chicken wings, burger and buffalo chicken sandwich. Everything was delicious!

Since there is little choice during the winter, I have been here twice. The first time I ordered the kielbasa, it was expensive for such a small portion. My second time I ordered French toast and that was much better. The coffee...typical diner weak coffee so you will need to drink a lot to get a caffeine buzz. The service is pretty entertaining at times and if you sass them, they will sass you back. I like that part the best since my Husband tends to be a smarty pants. So much Iâm afraid someone will taint our food. Theses ladies donât blink an eye and I love that.

My husband, 2 kids and I stopped for lunch and were very happy we did! They smoke their own meats and make fantastic homemade bbq sauce (bought a pint to go) Great lightly smoked chicken wings are a must try. Friendly service too :)
