Mendota is located approximately 70 miles east of Moline and 55 miles south of Rockford. The current mayor is David W. Boelk, an independent elected to a four-year term.

On way home, we saw an ad for Cindy's and hoped for a meal vs fast food. Attached to a gas station, it's rather large dining room. We saw home cooked meals and decided to give it a try. Good decision! They had specials listed, pot roast, pork loin, stir fry, but we saw they offered liver & onions and had to try it. The meal came with homemade soup or salad bar, choice of potato and veggie. A scoop of ice cream or tapioca was included. My husband had thick, rich beef barley soup and I had the salad bar. The meals came with tender liver and crispy fried onions. The mashed potatoes were real mashed, not instant and very good, green beans rounded out the meal. A really good peppermint scoop of ice cream completed the delicious meal,

Poor service poor quality of food. The parking lot needs repairs, cigarette pack and beer bottle sitting by door, entrance carpert filthy, worn out dirty cob webs not appealing. Inside is much nicer.I had meatloaf, looked and tasted like a cheap TV dinner. It came with soup, they only had chicken dumpling, I asked if I could get peas, as that was the veggie of the day, she said no, they donât allow an substitutes. Two other friends got baked potatoes, that were not close to being baked.Very disappointed from previous years.

We enjoy the turtle, that is a special that is offered a few times a year, we always watch for it. There is always the "GREAT CORN BEEF AND CABBAGE" served on St. Patrick Day which is untouchable anywhere around here. This two of food items that started us eating here, Steaks are always prepared to one's taste, tacos are super and our guests are delighted with anything they order. AND BY THE SERVICE IS EXCELLENT

I stop in the Subway about once a week and order a fresh salad or sub sandwich. The quality of the food is very consistent. The staff is very friendly and courteous.

The Mendota KFC is a nice place to have a meal at a great price. When we entered we were warmly greeted by both the cashier (Nicole) and the manager (Manny). The food was fresh and tasty and the restaurant was very clean and comfortable.How nice to see a "fast food" restaurant that has all these qualities. If you are in the area you will have a great visit with the wonderful staff and management.
