Well, if you count pudding and canned fruit slices then there was more than just M&M's chocolate cookies. Think 1/3 or less of Golden Corral choices but this is a resort area and the price is very reasonable with that in mind. We were warned that it was 20 minutes to closing and someone did come and warn us just before the food was taken off the line. That was thoughtful. The rice with nuts and fruits was one of the best side dishes. It was flavorful and spicy. Others raved about the baked beans. With 5 in our party and 1 a vegetarian, I would say that this was a good choice.

TR's Tavern, located at the back of Theodore's Dining Room in the Rough Riders Hotel, is a great option in town. It's open (in the off season) when the restaurant might not be, but it's only got about five or six tables, plus maybe a dozen seats at the bar. When we were there, we had no trouble getting a table at dinner time, but one night the bar was full of the performers from the Medora Musical, so it was a bit rowdy. Other guests at the hotel mentioned some difficulty in getting a table when the restaurant wasn't open, so it's worth it to check.The Tavern has two local beers on tap (both of which you can taste for free), and a decent sized wine menu in addition to the bar menu (with good options from sandwiches to salads). You can also order from the full restaurant menu (which I did one night, and the fettuccine alfredo was delicious and not to overly sauced).Tess, the server, was very helpful with hints about where to go in Theodore Roosevelt National park, in terms of getting the best views and the most animals. She also served us quickly when we needed it and let us just sit and hang out when we wanted to.Definitely worth a stop! The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that the menu wasn't quite as varied as I would have liked.

We enjoyed our food. I don't recommend eating there if you are gluten intolerant. My friend didn't think about them putting croutons on the salad and when she sent it back we think they just took the croutons off but the salad was then contaminated. She ate it anyway, which was a mistake. Also, we asked to have the bill split after it had been rung up together and we think that somehow we ended up paying about $10 per draft beer - mine a local craft and hers a domestic - during happy hour. The guy waiting on us had already gotten on my friend's case for not saying she was gluten intolerant clearly enough so we just wanted to get out of there. He recalculated our checks while we were standing at the bar. While driving away we realized we had paid too much. My $16 entree with beer came to $25. Great food and ambiance after being in the park all day, but don't expect gluten-free and pay attention to your bill.Hi CatharusForemost thank you for dining with us. Tall beers city-wide are $8 per draft. After adding local, state and city alcohol taxation you would be at nearly $10 per beer so there would be no mistake at the rate your mention. We are full-time RVâers and met up with friends at an RV park a short distance away. Decided to grab dinner and this place looked good. It was a typical cowboy bar/restaurant - wood floors, comfy, with a country/western flair etc...The meet, greet, and seat was quick and orderly, and the server quickly brought menus and took drink orders, which were promptly delivered.My wife and I each ordered a Mick Ultra ($5) and the Boots Burger, which came with fries or onion rings ($9), but had to pay an extra dollar for lettuce, tomato and onion... really? Now a buck didnât break the bank, but come on... a nine dollar burger should be more than a bun and a patty, and at least have some fixings. The food arrived quickly. The burger was good. But not great. Fries were okay, onion rings greasy. And the waitstaff service was good enough. What really turned me off here was when we were given the bill, our server summarily informed us that she had already added in her tip (18%)... Tips are gratuities given based on our perception of the service we received, and to an extent, the quality of the food. Not what she determined it should be... to be fair, I would have given her the going rate of 18% anyway. I just object to having waitstaff take that decision away from me, hence the poor review. All in all, it was just okay. Not real good, not bad... just an average watering hole.

Of all the meals that we had during our 3 days/nights in Medora, this was the absolute best place that we ate at. Great and friendly service with very good pizzas and wings. Simple but done extremely well. It is a huge restaurant and in the middle of August, there was good table availability.

Excellent selections with a lot of homemade items to choose from. The Turkey BLT with Avocado on homemade Cranberry Bread was to die for. The homemade Beef Barley soup was excellent. The regular BLT was filled with excellent tasting ingredients that would satisfy the pickiest of BLT connoisseurs. Best of all REAL FRESH BREWED ICE TEA! All I can say is homemade and YUMMY!

Designed in a kind of chic industrial look with room for seating for about 40 patrons inside, Farmhouse Café produces one of the best breakfasts that we have ever had. The staff was friendly and offered some menu selections. We ended up splitting the fresh doughnuts that were made to order and were amazed at the taste. The maple glazed bacon doughnut was outstanding. We each ordered a different breakfast and shared and were not disappointed. My wife ordered the farmers breakfast and I got the deep fried croissant French toast. The chocolate maple syrup was an added sweetness that was great. We were told that most ingredients were locally sourced. The restaurant filled up quickly after we arrived so anyone that does not want to have to wait for a table should plan on arriving early.

The Restaurant is connected to the hotel and there are two entrances, one through the hotel lobby and one through the bar at the front of the restaurant. The bar itself seemed nice but if forced to use one word it would be âstandard.â Nothing that really stood out as being that exceptional. The staff in the restaurant was very nice, helpful and offered some great thoughts on dinner. The ambiance lead one to believe that they were in a larger town then Medora, the menu options were more upscale then one would have expected, and presentation was good. The wine list was not that great nor was the meal itself. I kind of was left with the feeling that the chef was trying just a little too hard. We saw some locals eat in the restaurant, which is always a good sign. The restaurant was open later than other places in town, so if one has time, be sure to look around before picking an establishment.
